titli! titli! i just watched this and i can't find the other video for the glaze! how did the wedding turn out (congratualtions) and did you make a one layer cake or more than...?
what do you mean by feeding the cake? I know you pour brandy over it but do you poke holes into the top and how much brandy and how often? Love the video and my cake's in the oven as I type!
@Audiofreund2 I didn't make an icing video. There are too many people who are better at icing cakes than I am :-) But you can see a picture of the final cake on my Facebook page.
i love fruit cake and i'd been dreaming to bake one! but the ingredients you used arent available here in my country... could you share something elegant but with simpler ingredients. btw, i did your baked cheesecake and cookies and my co-seminarians loved it! youre adorable titli! your humour is the best!
Titli, what can you use instead of liquor to feed the cake. I love "Christmas" cakes, but they're hard to find halal. P.S. I don't use alcohol free liquor either.
@naseerahvj What you are really doing is reintroducing some moisture back into the cake. You could use some diluted orange juice, or dilute black tea.
Oh Titli- The tip for cutting the top was handy. Nice finished cake, but the burnt part was discouraging. Could it have been saved by lower oven temperature from the start and longer baking time? You and Adelle could have enjoyed the top bit with your tea. Hope the wedding was great and the marriage is happy.
@ohdrdrdr OK. I'll confess. At one point when we were standing by the oven we think Adelle knocked the oven temperature knob. We think it cooked at a higher temperature for at least half an hour. That's why the top ended up a bit "crispy". Ordinarily I would eat the cut piece of cake, but this was a bit too carbonised.
soak in the orange juice,or mix with the flour. In my case, all the dried fruits sink to the bottom. Anyway, I've also tried to make your hot cross bun recipe. I'm happy with the result but the buns turn out to be a bit dry and hard. I'm looking forward for your response.
Hi Titli, I've been following your videos for quiet sometime now.FYI, I just tried to make this recipe a week ago,and it turned out just fine.I followed all the measurement required for this recipe, but one thing puzzled me.Did you just purposely leave out the baking soda or you forgot to include it in? I've tried so many variations of rich fruit cake recipe before but yours the only one who didn't include baking soda in the recipe.Meanwhile, the dried fruits were not
Can you give us all the measurements according to US cup or oz size? and how many cups of dry fruits total should be added? I loved your video and planning to make this cake for Christmas. Please reply ASAP. When you say 350 gms of butter, how many sticks do you mean? And should the eggs and butter be at room temperature?
@anwarkasi I thought about it but decided against it. I'm not a great expert at cake decoration and there are others on YouTube who are much better at it than I am! But maybe I should post a short video with pictures of the final cake.
