I had a mostly Greyhound and he would start to sing every night, the old Newfoundland would join in, and, after a while we all would, humans, dogs and all he was so special. I sing in a band and he would 'help' when I did my vocal excercises. :D

yeah..they tend to be very hypo-allergenic...little or no shedding or dander. Best thing to do is take your mom to meet some and see how she does.

She's gorgeous, I love her. My greyhound has such a manly bark... he pretty much yelps, thankfully it's only really when he wants out, but he tries to answer the phone when it rings too, we really need to phone ourselves and record him answering...

Mine is totally silent except for a whimpering sound he uses when he wants something (usually accompanied by a cold nose). Never barks when the doorbell rings or at other dogs. He does woof occasionally when he is sleeping. Good or bad, his dreams must be vivid!

Of course, people and other dogs can TEACH a Greyhound to bark! ;-) I sort of prefer the silent trait...

LOL. My greyhounds don't do that. I have one that babbles when he can't figure out why I'm not sharing my food or can't figure out a command I am trying to teach him. One of my females was very intrigued by the singing though and did a lot of head tilting.

I have three greys and can't get them to roo to save our lives. They've done it twice in two years and we never could figure out what set them off as it was in the middle of the night. Every time we try to get them to roo they almost attempt it but perhaps we're not doing it in the right tone or something. Very strange!

@mmglv ...yeah.. it took Holly about a year to open up and sing. Sometimes all it takes is for them to hear other dogs rooing. Play yours a bunch of YouTube videos and see if that triggers it!!!

Holly is a female, and she's about average size (70 lbs or so). We also have Emma, who is REALLY small (55-60 lbs)...She looks like a big whippet!. One of our other girls, Duchess, was a BIG girl... You tend to find the males being much larger, but, it's really pretty variable. The females do tend to be a bit smaller...But they're ALL wonderful :)))
