I guess you forgot why you posted these songs, huh? It's called the world wide web...people don't have to understand the music to appreciate it. Your response is immature...Most often, it is the music that moves people...not the lyrics...
This is the first time I have heard the song. I left Dominica in the 60's and although at the time of growing up we were not allowed to communicate in Creole to the elders, I am not fluent as would like to be but still remember my language. It’s nice to hear that song and I understand every word. I always remember my grandmother and elders telling me that if I was naughty Sucouyant (Witch) would come and take me. Yes, it use to scare me esp at night. Such beautiful music. RIP Mr JJ

This song came about after a true happening on the island Dominica. The details vary somewhat from the song, but if you were to ask anyone of a generation around the 70's who lives or had lived on the island at that time if they had ever heard of this story, they most defiantly would say that the story is 100% true.
...a woman with big breast she was taking fight on a broomstick. At the same time my sister awoke to come and see what it was, she almost broke down the door to come and see the soucouyant there. And I myself went outside to call some more people. yikes look it's here, look it's here, I've caught a soucouyant! ...he continues....
A SOUCOUYANT IS A WITCH! One of my all time fav songs in patios. I hope this translation has been helpful to you.
...if your well, listen come! I've caught a soucouyant! At the same time my sister awoke to come and see what it was, she almost broke down the door to come and see the soucouyant there. And I myself went outside to call some more people. yikes look it's here, look it's here, I've caught a soucouyant! ....he continues sing the chorus with names of places in Dominica and some of the french speaking islands of the Caribbean as well as others and Miami...
The direct translation is: I was sleeping one Friday night when woke up I saw something black, I went to see what it was and at the moment I took a lamp, I started shouting soo coo and jumping like a mad person, yikes look it's here, look it's here I've caught a soucouyant! yikes look it's here, look it's here, I've caught a soucouyant! Woh, Dominica, Dominica, I've caught a soucouyant! Guadeloupe, Guadeloupe, I've caught a soucouyant! Mother hear what I'm saying, I've caught a soucouyant! ...
