I think this recording explains why so many people came to hate her: she refuses to make him into a saint. As she once referred to the myth of "St. Kurt the Unambitious." And at 1:12 she asks people to call him an "asshole." That probably upset some fans. But I think it's good that she didn't glorify his suicide and doesn't try to make him into a saint. Kurt's fans should realize that Courtney actually KNEW Kurt personally. She was his wife. Give him the dignity of the fact that he chose her.

He transformed his personal hell into pure art that so many people could relate to on some level... especially those who respected reality as much as he. I have no kind words for Courtney - she made her bed - she'll lie in it. But she's taken enough blows - no need to forever fuel that flame. Kurt wouldn't want you to. Its not a suicide note...its a retirement letter to his fans. He was gonna divorce her (she was having an affair w/ Billy Corgan) which would've ultimately left her with zip. She did have something to do with his murder.
