  • we miss you kath... im 38 years old and to thsi day i remember being 5-6 years old with my dad in his checvy truck listening to chicago. RIP my Brother. We'll see you in heaven soon enough. I'd like to shake your hand Sir.

  • "Freefall" ended 5 years of "Miami Vice" :(

This was the best send off to have with the montage of scenes from "Miami Vice" :)

Hey Tubbs. You ever considered a career in Southern Law Enforcement?

    maybe. Maybe. (both laugh)

  • @ everyone He is DEFINITELY sorely missed!!! One of the most under-rated guitarists N vocalists ever, N his death left a huge void no one can fill!!!

  • MIAMI VICE!

  • @batavusfietsbel Sonny, Rico, Stan, Larry, Gina, Trudy, Castillo ... GREAT!

  • Terry your soul was so visible in your guitar playing and never more vocal than in this beautiful song. You are so very missed. One day...we will all be together again! RIP

  • 17 idiots would not know what good music was if it bit them on the ass.

  • All I think about is the last episode of MIAMI VICE. Lovely song. Brings tears to my eyes.

  • I remember the first time I heard this track, my best friend and I crying like babies as we stared with disbelief at Robert Blake's character, sitting dead in the middle of a majestic desert landscape. That impression will never leave me until the day I die. What a hell of a vocalist Terry Kath was...

  • God bless America .

  • we miss you TK

  • Miami Vice,last episode....nostalgic ending!

  • God Bless you Terry Alan Kath. You are loved

  • Nice one Mr Wells. Searched for this as a memory of watching Electra Glide in Blue had suddenly flashed through my mind. First watched in 1980 its this end credits song that endured for me. Incredible. So much 'of its time' but more moving today. Brings a tear to my eye and I'm from across the pond. Its THAT good. This will stand tall long after all your Eminems, 50 pences and the like have faded away.

  • VERY VERY NICELY DONE. What Else can I say? Captured the spirit of the Song AND the Movie BRILLIANTLY! BRAVO!

  • es una hermosa cancion nunca la e escuchado en chicago acaso es un bonus

track nuevos albunes chicago marca Rhino, alguien me diga cual albun viene esta

    cancion,

  • Having loved the movie EGIB and the brilliant song "Tell Me", in 2006 I visited the road that I think the closing shot was filmed on which runs from Monument Valley to Mexican Hat.....quite an experience. It was easy to imagine Wintergreen sitting on the yellow centre line of the road. A very special moment.

  • beautiful soulfull voice terry u will be missed!

  • The band was never the same without Terry. He was the heart and soul of Chicago.

  • A true classic in it's own right.

I remember it both from Electra and Vice.

I'll admit, it was better in Electra.

But in Vice, what a hell of a way to go out!

  • Genius, guitarist,vocalist,songwriter.

  • How many years are you gone Terry? This sounds like you sung this yesterday.

Miss you...thanks for the music you left. That never dies.

  • rip big john :(

that was some fucking sad shit

  • He was the soul of Chicago...Amazing man indeed.

  • A haunting soulfull song and great movie

Terry,s voice reminds me of Joe Cocker

  • anybody can download the lyrics? thanks

  • It might not have been so original to use it for the long flashback sequence in Freefall but without it i might not have heard of ECB since it's a cult classic, but it looks good.

  • Awesome song!

  • i saw this movie when it first came out. I loved the end and this song so much , since then i have bought 6 or 7 copies of the soundtrack just so i would always have a copy

  • Jimmy Hendrix commenting on Terry Kath--"Man, I can't touch that cat"

  • @panhead58ful No one can touch that Cat! RIP TERRY baby I love you

  • god bless America today

  • I remember, I sat in the movie theatre and listened to the last note of this great song Not only a very special film, but a fantastic end. Thank you for sharing.

  • I remeber, I sat in the movie theatre and listened to the last note of this graet. Not only a very special film, but a fantastic end. Thank you for sharing.

  • My favorite part is where they get to GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  • For those of you who own a copy of Electra Glide in Blue on DVD, listen to the commentary by James William Guercio at the end of the movie. He talks about this song and Terry.

  • When I hear Terry sing this I can't help but think he had a little Ray Charles in his voice that day when he recorded it.

  • for some of us - this means a great deal inside our souls & spirits, 1973 when the world was inside out, and a few visions became real enough to share with the rest of the human race, live on Terry, we will be together again in a great day-to come-

  • where do i find this song? i want a copy of it :(

  • @Xlembros

Well, you could take your chances on Amazon.

They are selling the soundtrack (new and used [vinyl records]) from the movie. As of this posting, the cheapest price I saw was $22.98.

  • @mwhite36 i have found several copies of the soundtrack on e-bay. the last one i bought was about 12 bucks

  • This is lovely. Beautiful tune. I've been a Chicago fan since 1970 and this is the first time I've heard this song. It's just a gorgeous tune. It just is, and I'm really impressed.

  • no comment - just listen !!

  • MIAMI VICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • saw this in the last miami vice , it was very emotional. beautiful song

  • THANKS

He is surely missed and and will never forgotten !!!

  • Somebody should really release this on a greatest hits compilation. I've searched everywhere for it but find nothing, not even on Japanese import. If anybody knows where to buy this commercially, I'd really appreciate the advice.

  • @sleinad

    As previously posted:

  • @mwhite36

Wow, that's great news. Thanks for the heads-up!

  • This song is absolutely beautiful. I only wish there was more to be heard of Terry Kath on his own. He was such a fantastic muician.

  • @CircleCityEric I agree with you so much. Terry was a wonderful talent. I miss him so much.

  • @MiGrm9 I wish I could say the same. But, he was dead two years before I was born. You can't miss what you didn't experience for yourself.

Though, I must admit. I've been wishing I could channel his "great spirit" since I first heard "25 Or 6 To 4."

  • It's a great song with great pictures and yes it was the last song with a montage of best from Miami Vice. I love this song every time I hear it. Thankfully, someone posted the full version of the song on YouTube.

  • Terry...WE MISS YOU!!!!

  • awesome...

  • I was wondering who produced this album, and who played on it....Drums sound like Danny, but I could be mistaking. But thank you for posting it.

It is an amazing track, with so much soul into it.....Yeah Terry was a great singer, guitar player, entertainer, and a great soul. He must be up there Jamming with Hendrix, Harrison, Janis, and all the great rockers and they're having a ball.....

  • Where can I download this? It doesnt seem to be on Limewire for some reason.

  • No one has mentioned the great pictures you took. Thanks for the collection.

  • I have the audio in Stereo.

    Music is an art-form.

As with a beautiful painting in 'Fancy colours' that gets replicated in black-and-white, so is beautiful music that gets replicated in Mono: really diminished and 'choked'. - Give me a break: you can't be serious that 'stereo does not matter' .. :-/

All aspects of audio quality matter, Big time !

Every good song and great performance DESERVES "Glorious Stereo Sound" in HQ audio !

  • Actually this was in the original series at the end of Miami vice! Excellent song to end it!

  • Stereo does not matter when it comes to good music. And, imho, it might have been not possible at that time. Nevertheless. This is a good way of keeping old times in memories.

There is a joy greater than sadness, the joy of memories.

  • Brilliant song - will always be associated with Electra Glide in Blue, not Miami Vice - which only copied the original film.

  • But the show was good also.

  • Why, oh why wasn't this posted in STEREO????....Oh, well....

  • Try playing "electra glide in blue the end (spoiler!!!) " over terry kath's tell me. Not STEREO, but sounds great to me - I do it all the time . Sorry didn't mean to diss Miami Vice - I like it; but I LOVE Electra Glide In Blue. RIP Terry - you are dearly missed.

  • I have to teach some very serious subject matter, I use this at the end of the presentation because it is what it is. This song often comes to mind after I'm in situations where there is the smoke is still clearing from the fight and i'm surrounded by heros, god bless america and her brave sons and daughters, long live our republic

  • Terry sounded the best on this song. So beautiful... He also sounded great as a bass player on here too....RIP TK.

  • I love his voice.

  • Deep, deep, down in your soul blues

  • same here, did you see the miami vice ending on here? Awesome. was a chicago fan and DIDNT EVEN KNOW HE WAS IN CHICAGO. Sigh. Im an idiot.

  • Magnificent! I heard this on Miami Vice and it took 20 years to track this down. Thank God for Mr. Kath and for Miami Vice!!

  • Where can I buy this? ITunes doesn't seem to have it. Thanks, Gary

  • To Gary1911A1,

"Tell Me" was only available on the soundtrack to Electroglide In Blue. Maybe Japan has this available on CD? It should have been added to Chicago's box set.

    Good Luck.....

  • Terry left to his own devices definately wasn't a "pop" musician.

He was the contrast that Chicago needed.

  • This song goes out especially to not only to miami vice, but also a show that is acclaimed for 15 years and that is ER.

  • Great visuals with a great song. Good job!

  • Thanks God, thanks Terry Kath ..What a wonderful song.

  • One of those songs that if you've never heard it before it reaches out and grabs you. Yeah, I know it was with the ending of Miami Vice but I liked that program so much I refused to watch the ending so on Youtube is the first place I've ever heard it.

  • how did you get this amazing song?

  • By the way, as fans know, this song played at the final frames of the best tv show ever, Miami Vice. It was, amazingly enough after 111 episodes of some of the best (and unknown!) music of the 80's also the best soundtrack of the whol series!

Such a great song should have been world famous but it is not. It would help to issue it on cd!

  • I wonder if someone have a video in which Terry plays Liberation... Am I crazy?

  • Absolutely great video, could not have done a better job !!

  • to me is one of the best songs ever created thank you Terry...

  • I agree, only got into it from watchin the last miami vice ep, was like, who is this? i thought it was randy newman!!!

  • brill thanks heard at the end of movie love it cant find it anywhere thanks again

  • He buscado estan cancion en varios programas de descarga pero nada , no la encuentran alguien la tiene que me la pudiera mandar?

  • En el ares esta pero se oye algo baja de volumen.

  • Thanks from Belgium... Great !!!

  • this is so beateful, holy sheet, modern music suck!!

  • I too, heard this on the last episode of Miami Vice. Its stuck with me ever since. Its a wonderful piece of music, and if you watched the seies you would realise how apt it was a a final musical score. Is it on CD anywhere?

  • Look for "The Innovative Guitar Of Terry Kath" available on CD. Then just sit back and enjoy!

  • I have that Terry CD ("The Innovative Guitar Of Terry Kath"). "Tell Me" is not on it.

    How can I get it?

He is Top 10 for me.

    ALWAYS WAS!

  • As far I know after a lot of 'research' this song is - believe it or not! - only on the LP Electra Glide In Blue, which you could buy second hand to rip on mp3. It is nowhere else.

Only thing you can do is record this clip with realplayer recording manager.

Unless of course someone here who has the song wants to share it?

  • I feel he's asking us to look inside and appreciate the simple things in life.

In other words, all the beauty that the world has in front of our eyes, we need to open our eyes and appreciate every thing in our vision.

Suck on that .... Truth ....

  • Hey TK, you did it ...and we all love it ..

    Thank you

  • What do you guys think is the meaning of this song, eh?

  • check out the one on yt with the icon of the chick in the sun/it might be on the list to the right/they broke it down. it came out of the viet nam era, these dudes were anti war.

  • Love love love this song. RIP Terry

  • this song is nowhere to be found, ITUNES, LIMEWIRE....does anyone have it I need this on my IPOD

  • Great song...... anybody got the mp3 to this song?

  • Hey, why all the negativity? :(

  • I first heard this at the end of Miami Vice and loved it ever since. To me, as a nullifidian, the song is about remembering that we should try to mend the wrongs in the US but we should remember that the US is a power for good in the world, and that there is a genuine beauty in the people and country.

  • Hearing this again sent me back in time to a theater in Las Vegas when I was a 18 year old kid. Standing at the exit curtain listening to this moving, soul stirring song as my friends screamed at me to "come on" They all laughed at me when they saw tears in my eyes. I guess they would be laughing now because the tears are flowing again. R.I.P T.K.

    Oh yeah....amazing photo journal scwells64

  • Look on the sites that list Japanese Import DVDs.....this was a CD that come with the DVD in a double box set.....I got mine on ebay, but there are sites that do them.....good luck!

  • This is such a beautiful song, loved it in 'Electra Glide In Blue' and adored it in 'Miami Vice'...but does anybody know where i can get a copy of the song, as iTunes don't seem to have any record of it ANYWHERE!!! And i can't seem to find it anywhere else! Please!!??

  • where'd it go...waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

  • Yeah all who love Kath dont forget Electra Glide!!

  • love this song, when life's experiences wiegh me down this song floats to mind and gives me faith for one more day, one more fight and one more chance to serve

  • This is stunning. What a wonderful way to hear Terry sing this beautiful song. I have missed him every day he has been gone. He was a very special friend my heart aches when I think what he would have become what he would have given all of us. Thank you.

  • Thank you TK, happy 4th everyone!

  • I love the ending theme song here! I remember catching the movie "Electra Glide in Blue" on WNEW TV, here in New York late one night. Nice!

It's messed up though that when Miami Vice (the TV series) was going off the air; they also used this song - sacrilege!!

  • Beautiful photos, too!

  • No hate against the show "Miami Vice".

But if you've ever seen "Electra Glide in Blue", which came out in 1973, you associate "Tell Me" with THAT movie. Especially regarding how the movie "Electra Glide..." ended.

To me, it was cheap and a RIP-OFF to use "Tell Me" for the last episode of "Vice". I was actually stunned and then disgusted when I changed the channel to "Vice" and heard that song on the last episode. I changed the channel again!

I was just giving an opinion, though.

  • @mwhite36 It is sad that they took the ending from the movie that Terry Kath played, sang and stared in to attach to another TV show. Even more sad that Terry was dead when they did it.. erasing for a whole generation that will never know from where and whom the song originates.

  • @mwhite36 I saw

"Electra Glide In Blue" and I right away associate this song with that movie. I saw Chicago in '75, and they just blew me away. I'd been a fan since '70, and Terry was amazing on his Telecaster guitar. At one time I had the album that this song was on. But over the years, I've lost some records from moving...

  • @mwhite36:

That may be. But OTOH, because of *Miami Vice* millions of people heard this song who simply wouldn't have otherwise. Heck, maybe some of them will find out about *EGB* eventually!

  • @mwhite36 - Hi Mike, don't be stunned, be thankful. Michael Mann, a Chicago native is a Chicago (the band) fan. This was such a great tribute to place in a very popular show. Terry Kath was the bomb. Chicago horns are the bomb. Okay, the original line up of Chicago was the bomb when Terry, Robert and Peter shared lead vocals. The new guys are all good too; but THIS was great. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I'm talking to you too. :)

  • @mwhite36 i think it was great to have this very emotional song over images from the show

  • @mwhite36 No offense, but you and the rest of TK fans should be honored that the producers chose to use this as Vice's "swan song" It was, perhaps, the most influential show of the decade.

  • PS LONG LIVE Terry !!!!!!!

  • Oh I LOVE this song, I never heard it before . . . I think Terry had a GREAT baritone voice . . . Thank you SO MUCH for posting . . . Also, the photography you took is SO breathtaking as well . . . I ENJOY nature, thanks again !!!

  • this song is so beautiful

  • Not only a great choice in music, but a damn great video to match!!!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS!!!!

  • Glad you enjoyed it....great song, and just reminds me of my time in the States!

  • My father got the electric glide in blue album when it came out and I still have the album today, wish they would release it on cd.

    PEACE, TKATH FOREVER!

  • Wow! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I been looking for so long for this song. I wish people can hear this song everyday and think about our world today. God Bless you and thank God for letting us hear the voice of Terry Kath

  • Goddammit Terry, wait a minute! You changed the world with the lead to 25 to 64...and make me smile. But now hearing you sing "God Bless America" on the Tell Me...Honestly, this Combat Pilot cried like a baby...God Bless your memory...T6 "American" Pilot

  • I never forget this song since I was a kid. I have been looking for it too! Thanks for posting it. It is a song that people need to hear right now!!!!

  • The greatest voice and guitarist ever. God bless you for the music. Terry and Robert forever, no one can ever replace them.

  • I have been listen to Terry's voice since I was 8 be about 37 year s--he speak to my soul

  • As others have said -- THANKS for this posting! I pity today's generation...MINE had the best rock music! That is why it is still listened to today! I wore out my LP's. I WOULD have wore out my 8-tracks if they didn't become obsolete so soon. I wore out my cassettes and now I'm wearing down those CD's.

  • That ending really said it all.

    Thank you Mr Kath.

  • Who is the old woman appearing in the window behind the choir?

  • Thanks sticks. This song just runs through my spirit. The Lord called me to preach His Word and my heart aches for our nation. We must pray a prayer of repentence. Check out 2 Chronicles 7:14. This is hope...never forget...hope is a good thing...yes Terry was right...it's not too late!

  • Judging by Terry's body of work, it seems maybe the Lord called on him to send some messages through song. Much of his music is deeply spiritual.

  • I agree with you fern. It is deeply spiritual, and "God Bless America" is in the song. To me, it is a summary of "Life" in a song.

  • I searched high and low for this one since seing a rerun of the final "Miami Vice" espisode some months ago. This somg was played to a montage of the shows best moments. Thank so much for this one.

  • Right thats where Croket and Tubbs walk away from the f.b.i..When they drove away the montage kick in,i knew it was Terry Kath.

  • that was from the episode "Freefall" (a.k.a. the series finale). i recorded the montage on my DVR.

Sonny: "have you ever considered a career in southern law enforcement?"

    Tubbs: "maybe... maybe."

  • That series was a classic...one of the best ever IMHO.

  • i've searched for this song for a long time. great listen. thanks for posting.

  • After seeing the film when I was about 18, it was 20 years before I got it on disk, and then that was from Japan!!!!!!!!!

    Glad to have helped!

  • wil never forget this from the last 15 minutes of "electraglide in blue"... the "god bless americas" never stopped coming as the poor cop lay dead or dying on the road... I wonder if Terry Kath intended the irony?

  • I heard of it some of the band members were in it.But what about the the half completed solo

album Kath was working on with Guerico ???

  • can someone please post the lyrics?

  • Here ya' go (part I):

    Tell me about the sun

    Tell me about the rain

    Tell me about the fields

    Tell me about the plains

Will they come again, I don't know

Will they ever come again, I don't know

God above, is there not anything that we might do

To try and make this world of ours a better place for me and you?

  • (part II): Tell me all about man Tell me so I can understand Tell me somebody all about wars Please try and tell me just how much more Oh pray it's not too late - oh no Please everybody, everybody, everybody pray it's not too late Oh come on, yeah come on Come on, say a prayer for us God Bless America today God Bless America today
  • he could sing just like he played/ with heart

    and soul

  • Never realized what a soulful singer Terry was. You tube has such a nice collection of some truly great american music history.

    Thanks for posting,great pics.
