hello just thought you would like to know...the Castle hotel's real owner's name is Don Juan Villalobos Ledesma and the" iloilo city dev bank" is the residence of the heirs of Don Celso Villalobos Ledesma (brothers) and the Rosales residence was the Fanny Ledesma House
The University of the Philippines Visayas building has the work (the twin statues of Law and Order) of Italian sculptor Francesco Riccardo Monti who resided in the Philippines from 1930 to 1958.
Iloilo is a city mix with old and new facades, I just hoped that the architects would have designed new building resembling the old...with the sense of european structure visible in its designs.
Im glad that we have this website. But I hope that this will be updated. Create a new video for 2010. How about houses is molo like pison residence and neighbors. Buildings in Central Philippine University, buildings in Fajardo St. Jaro anf jaro plaza itself... Thanks
iloilo is the best tourist spot ever if only the government took time to renovate and preserve this buildings... kasubo kay ginahimo nlng commercial building ang iban nga mga ancestral house kag heritage building... daw spain ang iloilo hope you agree
It's been 9 years for me and I can't believe how much I miss the place. I admired all the old buildings that Europe has - something America doesn't since it's too young. I just now realized that I grew up surrounded with beautiful architecture. Can't wait to be back a year from now .... :) And of course .... ang tanan nga pagka-on nga nahidlawan ko!!! :)
My hometown might have a few familiar sights like that since it was colonized by the Spanish nearly as long as the Philippines. I'm originally from St. Augustine, Florida. A lot of things have changed in nine years, maybe you've heard that the new city proper will be in Mandurriao?
Bern, Angelicum is the new name of the place, historically, it was "Lizares Mansion". I passed through this place thousand times (via route Dingle --- Iloilo). Kahit gaano man kalayo ang narating nating mga Ilonggo, sa mang panig ng mundo, there's no place like Iloilo !!! hahanaphanapin at babalikbalikan mo pa rin. Malungkot dito sa Alberta, Canada ??? gusto kong bumalik sa aking pinakamamahal na birthplace --- Iloilo.
It's good to see these sites and have a flashback of the many stories told. My grandfather used to tell me that they always gathered in Casino Espanol. The downtown area was the shopping capital, these houses became the venue of top society parties and the Fort San Pedro was the date place as well as the center of trade.
It's overwhelming how much history has been implanted within these structures.I am hoping that this rich heritage and its stories will be preserved by the younger generations.
good job bern. nkita ko man mga piks mo sa flickr. i am an architect and i think you and your video together with the iloilo heritage society have 5 star. a good teamwork in presenting this heritage sites.
i have just a little questions:
would you please tell me where these buildings located?
Proud to be an Ilonggo...I think it's quite late already for some of our authorities to realize the importance of these heretage sites. I felt bad when I saw old houses being brought down in Jaro to be replaced or used for commercial purposes. Wow! I never realized how I missed JM Basa until seeing the vid!

Some of these beautiful buildings are in ruins or already gone. I'm hoping for their restoration and preservation.
