  • @nadiuxa Haha! Just watched that episode of CSI: NY about 2hrs ago here in the UK!

  • This reminds me of Hammock's song Wish

  • stewart copeland= master of the high hat

  • Are you shittingme?...I want to listen to GREAT music, andI get freaking political commercials?...Come on...The artists should have a problem wit this...Yes?...No matter who we vote for,a politician will be elected

  • @kimberly021466 FYI use Firefox browser with adblock plus and no more ads on youtube ever.

  • He writes such beautiful songs and his meanings of the songs are so different than what we hear.

  • i only like the end.

  • Once a man, like the sea I raged...

Once a woman, like the earth I gave...

But there is in fact more earth than sea.

  • For some reason, I thought of this song whilst reading in Battle Royale the part where (SPOILER ALERT) Kayoki Katohiki and Hiroki Sugimura's deaths.

  • PETER GABRIEL IS 1 OF MY ALL TIME HEROES :)

  • BIG BOI SENT ME

  • @Hypnuhtyzin what song did big boi sample this song on?

  • @cherubicnerd Oh he didn't sample it. He linked this video from Twitter.

  • greatest

  • the best album is this so

  • so cool song but very very bad execution! this song is very good! but singer is not

  • @PycbkaFinch Please tell me your joking.

  • He is a truly great musician and songwriter.

  • This is the best song ever :) easyyy

  • This has been my favourite song - of PG's and of all time - since I was 9 years old... I'm 32 and it's still just as fresh today as it's ever been. There's no one like Peter Gabriel.

  • amazing

  • The real best song on "So"...."Sledgehammer" and "Big Time" are still good though.

  • Who is that young guy in the video, and what have you done with Peter Gabriel??

  • I have always loved this song ever since I first heard it.

I also think this is a better mix (better placement of instruments; clearer vocals) than the Red rain [play Version].

  • classic!

  • @lautour---I love Prince as well, but got to be real......Red Rain > Purple Rain.

  • Ill nino introduced me to this song, and now i realized what i was saying. :D

  • how can anyone dislike gabriel? who are you? a serial killer?

  • secondo me questo e' il pezzo che rappresenta al meglio peter gabriel....immortale...

  • I saw him live on David Letterman last night. Hope he comes to New Zealand

  • @wellthatllbegoodthen Awesome wasn't it...? 46 piece orchestra.. so cool...

  • what a little masterpiece and gem of 80 years music....i really really like it....

  • 8 people drowned in the red rain and accidentally hit the dislike button. Who can dislike Peter Gabriel? No one. I saw him live and it was the best concert i've ever gone to. Truly amazing artist.

  • stewart copeland always wrecks the hi-hat!

  • Damn Peter was really hot when he was young.

  • steward copeland played the intro to this song.

  • Anyone else think Dave Matthews sounds almost exactly like Peter??

  • @berlinmitte10117 hmm. maybe it's just the 'way' he sings in some DMB songs that reminds me of pg.

  • any song i go to that's decades old has some little kids showing off their age looking to impress and surprise adults. i'm glad you're not beiber-zombies but please stfu.

  • @jimmyjoemonkey amen

  • @jimmyjoemonkey My sentiments entirely - that's the beauty of great music, it's meant to span generations!

  • You could march to this song, nice

  • A great song by Peter Gabriel

  • 8 Prince Fans.

  • @MrVoodoosid Shut up with that. Prince is my absolute favorite artist but Red Rain is da everloving bomb! Peter Gabriel is awesome, period. There is no dispute between Prince fans and Peter Gabriel fans. I just bought New Blood today!

  • I just heard an orchestral version of this song on Later Live with Jools Holland and honestly it was the first time i heard this sing, and it was the sexiest thing i have ever heard!

  • @SwaineMusic It took the song to another level didn't it!!!... I liked the veroin he did of Solsbury Hill aswell!

  • later edit...i wish i had my stereo speakers from home to frighten the whole dorm with this song..i'm listening to headphones :(

  • for one fuckin' second this song made me feel like i felt some years ago (between 16-17 years)...it gave me a feeling i had in one of the most beautiful and important moments/period of my life...met great people...had a good time...i wish i was 16-17 again...i'm 21 now...i wish i could feel the same way i felt back then but for more than one second...

  • @axlhm i know the feeling ;o)

  • @axlhm it just gets worse as time goes on. enjoy your early 20s, because when you're almost 30, you'll be missing them too.

  • slayer = raining blood

    peter gabriel = red rain

  • Ive been a longtime fan of dave matthews, and have recently started getting into Peter Gabriel, and to me its obvious that dave was inspired in some way by Peter Gabriel, i hear some similiarities in their music. Im not saying ones better than the other, thats all opinion, so dont bash me saying one sucks or whatever, i just hear a little peter gabriel in dave, which is great cause this man is awesome.

  • @steviestickyfingaz Tis true. Dave has openly admitted in interviews that he's a huge Gabriel/Genesis fan.

  • So much of my childhood is intertwined in this album... My mother used to listen to this and The Summoner's Tale by Sting, all the time. It's a shame that my family has pretty much fallen apart. This album to this day still has a special place in my heart and now that I'm older... I can appreciate the genius and beauty in Peter Gabriel's lyrics. Thank you very much for posting this song.

  • The SO album is one of the worlds greatest creative and musical achievements of all time. The co-op of Lanois and Gabriel is incredible.

  • It's been forever since I heard this song. I remember purchasing this album on cassette tape and playing it ceaselessly. The entire album is musical perfection.

  • The word should stop to listen that last minute of this gem.

  • PIĘKNIE ŚMIGA MI JESZCZE TEN KAWALEK NA WINYLU.... MISTRZ........

  • Being 14 did rule :')

  • I remember my mother playing the entire So album when she cleaned the house on the weekends; I grew up with the great influence that is Peter Gabriel. As I got older, I realized that no one that I knew listened to PG, and no one could relate to how great his music was. What an ispiration he was to me and everyone who knows his music after Genesis.

  • @realityforwhom33 wow i was brought up the same way! my mom would play it all the time when i was around her when i was little

  • Im peter gabriel and being 14 rules!

  • @BlackDogs1924 1986 was a great year. Especially the summer. I was 14 that year. It's been 25 years since

the release of this album. You don't here to much from PG anymore or Phil Collins either

  • @BlackDogs1924 I know you've probably had a lot of replies by now but I love this comment.

  • @BlackDogs1924 I lol'd so hard..

  • @BlackDogs1924 Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ...You must be a cool person to know...Join my band...!

  • @BlackDogs1924 I am also Peter Gabriel, and being 14 is so-so.

  • in 1986 danial lanwai come out with works with u2 bob dylan and this. 25 yrs on listen to this work of art. not just this track but all of this album, some of the finest funk rock on record will be found on this album grace land lawless avernue, nothing like the sun look up the discovery for 1986

  • give me sum thumbs up so there are no disgusting words in the top rated comments anymore..

  • @throbbingmember and @madeias14: I wondered the same thing until it became obvious that it's gotta be a cheap publicity ploy; in today's infotainment universe, any exposure is good exposure. I've never heard one song from any of these people yet they're forced into my consciousness as I listen/watch anyone from The Beatles to James Brown to Dinah Shore to Keith Jarrett to etc. It's one thing to OCCASIONALLY see a comparison/knock post but on EVERY SONG and the top post to boot? C'mon son!

  • "So" was one of the best albums of the 80s. It combined PG's amazing lyrics & vocals with superb instrumentation. The world needs more music like this. Pop music is these days a hollow, vapid shell of its former self.

  • Im 14 and peter gabriel rules!

  • @NormanBatesRocks911 yes you may be experiencing troubles. but not till your heart is broke many times do you know what red rain is. sometimes the best way to fight is to step back.

  • @NormanBatesRocks911 And? You think your special because your younger?! .-

  • @bananeskit didnt say that, im just fuckin tired of people saying kids dont have good taste in music

  • @NormanBatesRocks911

    As am I.

  • @NormanBatesRocks911

No one gives a shit how old you are. Just enjoy the music.

  • @SteelerEagleFan hmm someone seems to...i have a top comment

  • @NormanBatesRocks911

Congrats! You should put that on your college application!

  • @SteelerEagleFan in the spirit of peter gabriel, thou shouldst chill

  • @SteelerEagleFan chill

  • @NormanBatesRocks911 same buddy im 14 and i love him!!!

  • Highest rated comments are hypocritical as shit.

  • yes red rain, thats what the state wished for me and my family, no more trust. racist monkees.

  • @rememrald30

    <3

  • 7 Leute sollten mal ihre Ohren reinigen...

  • This gives me chills

  • The greatest of the 80's!!

  • 7 dislikes... This is a blasphemy

  • @throbbingmember Lots of people care. It's the popular music of a new generation. It is unfortunate that a lot of newer music is designed purely for economic gain, but all of those artists you mentioned possess musical talent. YouTube isn't yours...it's essentially a public sounding board, and while your opinions matter, so do theirs.

Peter Gabriel is amazing...his music is utterly mind-blowing. Sit back, enjoy the music, have a good time and try not to worry your throbbing head. :)

  • wow..

  • 'SO', was a landmark LP, just like 'Hounds of Love'. Essential piece of kit for anyone who loves this era.

This track, allied with his work on Robbie Robertson's 'Fallen Angel' prove his brilliance.

  • CSI New York soundtrack and a very nice song!

  • What a terrific work or art. Listening to this song is a journey.

  • i like this song..

  • The is the CD that opened my eyes to alternative music, and the rest, as they say, is history..

  • Hum...probablement que le cerveau des gens a été contaminé, par la radio activité...la pluie x tombe sur nous, si une centrale nucléaire explose, ou une nation lance la bombe....

  • ...this song is very special to me she's beautiful.. =)

  • did this song even come off So?

  • @Scoutman3100 yes

  • @throbbingmember AHHAHAHAHA, whatever you say.

  • LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Man ohh man, I tell you. In 86 I wore this Freaking Album out. ..(cassette) brings back so many fond memories !

  • @throbbingmember There you go faning the flames. I agree with you 100%, But instead typing them douches names, I just thumb down them comments that have nothing to do with the music, ps your username sounds like it was made up by some 12 yr old year looking at porn.

  • @TrainingStream This comment has nothing to do with the music....THUMBS DOWN

  • And Peter Gabriel is more awesome in concert. He talks to his audience and shares tidbits of life. Like wine, he ages well. I love him, dearly.

  • I agree with Madeiras and Throbbingmember; music is an art, but much like the 80's music today is filled with disposabe GARBAGE. So, all you imature TooLs' can suck it. =3

  • sounds like justin beiber

  • @whipchops you will not get the thumbs up you think you deserve

  • @whipchops WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?

  • OMG BREAKING BENJAMIN TOTALLY COPIED HIM

BTW I STILL LOOOOVE BREAKING BENJAMIN

  • I'm 16 and I love this song (and Sledgehammer too) ! Thumbs down for Lady Caca, Justine Bieber and Talentless Rihanna...

  • Peter Gabriel rocked with Genesis and as a soloist. Sledge Hammer and all that. Good stuff. But here, Red Rain, the f*cker flexed artistic muscles few knew he had. This cut was and still is THE SHIT! Peter........

  • Red Rain x<3

  • One of his best.

  • Thumbs up if it was actually raining the first time you heard this tune.

  • Essa é a primeira música do Peter Gabriel que eu escuto na minha vida e eu estou gostando muito!

This is the first song of Peter Gabriel that I hear in my life and I'm liking very very much!

  • i hella used to listen to this when ever i would go to my friends house brings back memoriess... fishing salamandors out of the creek:)

  • this is HUGE!

  • @darthmethodist YOU suck!

  • @darthmethodist Fuck off then.

  • @darthmethodist Lol, you're obviously trying for a fight by posting that on a great video with zillions of positive comments...

  • @darthmethodist BITCH YOU ARE GAY!!! Whats the point of going out to find a song just to dislike it (unless its Justin Beiber or Rebbeca Black, who deserve all people can throw at them (including water bottles)). i mean come on people. Why?

  • @darthmethodist it's ok. I'm a professional Peter Gabriel fan, this song is really annoying. Worst part is in the last 4 minutes where he reiterates Red Rain over and over again.

  • Why are you stupid people always mentioning other artists' names? Can't you just enjoy this music without keep comparing with artists who are MILES away from this? I mean, c'mon. What the hell are you thinking when u compare Lady Gaga with Peter Gabriel? That's like comparing a banana with a toast! That's just stupid.

  • @Madeiras14 So Lady Gaga and Peter Gabriel are especially good for diarrhea?

  • @Madeiras14 accually bananas and toast are both breakfast foods and quite good but i gotcha :)

  • @Madeiras14 More like comparing a legitimate artist with a slut.

  • @Madeiras14 Lady Gaga is a rancid bowl of noodles to this dish of Coq au Vin of a song

  • @Madeiras14

It's offending to even mention that hags name on a Gabriel thread! She's NOT worthy.

  • @Madeiras14

sorry to nitpick, but "a toast" is improper English.

I just couldn't let it slide

    i agree otherwise

  • @theknack101 hey no prob ^^ my english is not rly well-shaped lately, so thnx for the tip.

  • @Madeiras14 AMEN!!!

  • @Madeiras14 I prefer bananas to toast.

  • @Madeiras14 It's like comparing a strawberry and a prune.

  • @Madeiras14 Lady gaga SUCKS BALLS and not the good ones...

  • @Madeiras14 I put bananas on my toast

  • @MySaMoth thats always pretty good

  • @Madeiras14

absolutely dude. Just retarded kids mostly, total musical experience of about 6 months to a year.

  • @Madeiras14 Well said, my friend. All Peter Gabriel fans are my friends.

  • @Madeiras14 Well said sir!

  • @Madeiras14 I like banana with my toast. Throw in a little peanut butter and it's to die for.

  • Comment removed

  • @Madeiras14 No SHIT!!!! There is no comparison with Lady what the fuck ever and Peter Gabriel. It's no wonder this world is going to shit!

  • This song screams 80's all over it, I love it!

  • i allways get a buzz listening to this

  • Müßte bei ner Genesis-Reunoin der Opener sein!!!

  • Stewart Copeland (The Police) on drums & drumprogramming!

  • einfach nur saugeil!

  • What a genius its like if he wrote the genesis.. oh wait didnt he? :)

  • Love this one too--album is great--still listen to it --this song was in a dream of mine long time ago--was cool :)

  • I'm glad my friend sent me this link.

  • ifffffff you want to beliieve.. ive seen it..... RED RAIN.... its ok to doublt, wy would I lie... I was scary. very...... very, Red Rain has been here... If you want the story write me.

  • at the waters edge of my dream

  • WHAT SAD IS THAT WHEN I WAS 14,15,16,17, WE HAD HENDRIX,GENESIS,WEATHER REPORT,YES,ELP,BILLY COBHAM,MILES,TONY WILLIAMS,FUNKADELIC-AND WE UNDERSTAND THE DEPTH OF ALL THIS MUSIC-SO AT A YOUNG AGE OUR MINDS WERE ALREADY FEELING A DEEPER MEANING OF MUSIC BECAUSE THAT WHAT WE GREW UP ON-THIS BUBBLE GUM SHIT THAT OUT NOW IS NOT AS MUSICAL OR DEEP IN MEANING--MAYBE FOR THIS GENERATION-BUT THE MUSICAL EFFORTS DO NOT COMPARE TO THAT ERA...THE MUSIC IN ONE SENSE DOES NOT CHALLENGE YOUNGSTERS NOW

  • heard this song on the radio and i was lik "i know this song is beyond my generation but i must have it!"!!! you can picture a life time in this song, like a movie or beautiful flash back.....you know what i mean?
