  • One of the best songs ever written

  • This is music is so special!

  • Frédéric Chopin.

  • i still love this song.. i think of one special person..

  • bravissimo!

  • The background singers are irritating as hell. :(

  • Barry is a Great Singer and Song Writer.

  • OMG! I wish I were one of those sitting in that audience! Could imagine what that must've sounded like, live?

  • great stuff.he'd have been the best during this period if not for Elton.

  • Fell in love with Barry Manilow when he sang this song on this show so many years ago. Until a few years ago I never knew who he wrote it about. You can tell he was thinking of her when he sang it. To have someone love you that much, with that much emotion, I get goosebumps every single time I hear this song. One of the true artists of my generation!

  • One of the great's singers and musician from yesterday Barry Manilow ..

  • Give credit to CHOPIN !!

  • @vitman33 I absolutely agree with you. The chord sequence was in fact composed by Chopin. I guess Manilow wrote the lyrics to the chord progression. He made it popular, though.

  • @MusikeXavier you're basically right. but as we give credit and admire "old classic" music - the same way we must preserve and expose the amazing music that was composed so much time before this one was.

  • This is the one and only song i love from Barry. Often copied, but his original is the best.

  • 3 people don't have the magic in them.

  • BARRY IS THE BEST AT ANYTHING HE SINGS THERE IS NOBODY BETTER THEN HIM

  • How is it that a moving song like this is to be made fun of, but the shlock out today is deemed as awesome?

  • This song is so lovely.

  • My Baby...come into my arms....

  • Barry is MY guilty pleasure when it comes to music.

  • Few things are as beautiful as the way Manilow performs this ultimate classic! Bravo!!!

  • Donna Summer does NOT sing it better. Barry is the author. Donna Summer is an impostor. It's Barry's song. He does it best!

  • I could love you...Build my world around you! Never leave you 'till my life is done. Baby, I love you!!!

  • People scoff at him but I have always adored his voice. He is, indeed, magic.

  • I just stumbled upon this video and after all these years, it still strikes a chord in my heart and makes me so filled with emotion. The beauty of Chopin's

Prelude in C Minor into the song.. ..all Barry has to say is Spirit move me.....and I melt. At 47, my love of his music and appreciation of his legacy of talents still moves me, what began when I was 11 years old - still evokes the same incredible response today~ thank you for posting this - it has truly made my day!

  • His greatest song ever. IMHO.

  • I love this song by him. He is so talented. It kind of makes me sad too but that's okay...a love thing.

  • his BEST song, hands down!!

  • PURE GENIOUS!

  • Thanks for posting something so rare and beautiful.

  • An artist singing his most powerful song in the prime of his years IS magic. Few people in this world can move others the way he does with this song. They don't write songs like this anymore. Sadder still, our society has no audience for another artist like this. Barry truly was the perfect man in the perfect time.

  • @21bobbysanders well said!!!!!!

  • Absolutely amazing. Without a doubt this is in my top three Barry Manilow songs.

  • @lab1953uyu.i've heared this song, but only just realized how fantastic it is.How romantic.

  • OMG! This is amazing! I haven't heard this in SO long!

  • This is so Fucking good compared to nowaday's crap. Now that's what i call one helluva magnificent love song!

  • I could listen to him sing and play the piano all day!!!!!! One of my favorite songs of all time! He truly is a musical genius. Love you Barry!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • a very beautiful song that reminds us of the humanity every one of us possess.

  • The most passionate song I have ever heard

  • And on a secondary note, Midnight Special seems to have caught some really great live performances of bands and artists: Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, Manfred Mann's Earth Band, and many others.

  • My favorite Manilow song!

  • This is a classic from Barry!

    What a talent...love Manilow music!

  • BARRY MANILOW! Barry is now a true Icon of American Music! Composer/Pianist/Great Singer and Performer! Barry is a great Talent and loved Worldwide! He deserves applause from every corner of the world! He is a unique Great Musical Talent!!

  • this is an amazing song and he is a great performer.. BUT Donna Summer does sing it better.. I would love to see a collaboration between them!

  • This is my favorite Barry Manilow song and one of my favorite all time songs.

  • LOL. He missed a note at 0:11 ...Love live performances. Makes you realize these people are actually humans... so good!

  • :)

  • barry 's songs will nver die ..he is so good

  • @ytsjm I read that as he's GOD! But yes, yes he is. :D

  • @ceedkay no he's not a god! he's nowhere near as intimidating as that.he's more of an eternal boy.a nonthreatening twerp, really.

  • @betterinformed How can you carelessly insult someone with such talent? Didn't your mama teach you anything about sensitivity or caring? Do you even have a soul?

  • WOW

  • two people from barry manilow's distant past have accused him publicly of being gay in a "biography" about him.but these people have some type of grudge against him.still i want to know:WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE THAT BARRY MANILOW IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN GAY WITH? AND WHY DONT THEY SPEAK TO THE PRESS?MOST GAY PEOPLE ARE NO LONGER IN THE CLOSET.ALSO,BARRY MANILOW CANT BE PAYING THEM ALL OF TO SHUT THEM UP.

  • I always thought this song was soooo sensual. Starts off slow and sweet, builds with intensity and urgency until the "climax", then returns to soft, breathlessness. I read his autobiography and he said he wanted this song to feel like "a musical orgasm". I'd say mission accomplished !

  • @chrissilou813 You`re correct about the sensual aspect of this song, i just wish , that at my age, there were at least 2 or 3 more verses.

  • Barry Genial!!!

  • 1 Person doesn't believe in magic.... prick.

  • Epic...

  • This is GREAT!

  • he looks like he's about to laugh when he says "come" lol

  • He's the greatest! First there was Al Jolson, then Frank Sinatra, then Elvis Presley, now Barry Manilow. Who will be next? No one has come even close to him yet.

  • Very beautiful song, doesn't matter whose version you listen to, Barry's or Donna's, and still a great melody even if he did lift the intro from Chopin.

  • doesn't get any better than this

  • Real music or what??? I love it!!!!

  • I've always been amazed how he can sing and plan piano at the same time.

    I guess a musical genius!

  • best singer of all times feeling the music in your heart and soul

  • @Brendrix I agree with you absolutely. He ALWAYS sings with ALL the body! What a guy!!!

  • Really good!

  • The only single thing i thank my foster mother for is playing Barry Manilow constantly around the house. I grew up listening to his songs, this one is just incredible.

    Great post, props!!

  • oh my gosh, he sings with heart! how lucky the girl, who he had dedicated this song..

  • wow

  • My favorite Manilow song ......although I loved Summer's remake better!

  • good song actually. even if Barry never gets no love from most people.

  • Timeless. Like yesterday. Last week. The other day. And this guy is still just as good. Amazing talent.

  • MY FAVOURITE SONG OF ALL TIME...BEAUTIFUL!! AS ONLY BARRY COULD PERFORM IT! WHAT A STAR!!

  • hes a prodigy, sure he worked hard to get to this height but come on, a classical pianist and a voice that like this is from the womb.

  • The bass player is friggin' amazing in this take. There's some feedback as the levels come down towards the end of the tune and the back up singers needed to be a bit more 'back up' and not so forward... but Barry was/is a consumate performer, and never disappoints!

  • my eyes are never dry after watching and listening to this.

  • he ruined chopin's prelude 20 for me.

  • I love this song. Adore. JUST perfect!

Yes totally agree. Long live the Barry....

  • I love this song. Adore. JUST perfect!

  • Manilow is a friggin' icon......people, of all ages and colors, and countries, still love the dude and his tunes.....he gets passed on from generation to generation...cuz his tunes are timeless. Long live the Barry....

  • Play it brother!

  • Manilow's seamless and masterful transition from "Prelude in C Minor" into "Could it Be Magic" and back again leads one to believe that perhaps Chopin had intended for someone to come along and create something to be added to the middle of his composition. Chopin would most certainly have approved. If you do not find this song moving, you obviously have never been in love or you have no heart.

  • @lab1953uyu yeh pop and classical do not usually mix but this is really clever

  • @lab1953uyu OH SHUT UP! TWIT AND LET ME ENJOY THE SONG- PRICK

  • @chaka943 Somebody apparently has some anger management problems.

  • @chaka943 AND SO? LOL

  • One of the best songs ever done!!

  • WONDERFUL SONG,,LOVE YOU BARRY

  • Anyone who says this isn't his best song is lying :D

  • Absolutely fabulous!!

  • This is absolutely terrific. New found respect for Barry Manilow

  • awesome Barry.

  • Spirit move me every time I"m near you Whirling like a cyclone in my mind Sweet Melissa, angel of my life time, Answer to all answers I can find Baby I love you Come, come, come into my arms Let me know the wonder of all of you Baby I want you, now, now, now and hold on fast Could this be the magic at las
  • Thank you for posting this song. My favorite Barry song. I'm definitely a Fanilow!

  • A family of 5 could live comfortably in his nose...just sayin...

  • @remulak56 don't be hatin

  • @remulak56 That nose gives him his unique and beautiful voice.

  • TV friendly instrumental break, BOO!!!

  • Fantastic song and video of this cute and multi talented man hard at work. He can do anything. I have been a lifelong fan since 1974 when he started yet he performed with Bette in the early 70s at the Continental Baths in New York. I love the color of his shirt and it looks great on him with those baby blue eyes. Thanks for this wonderful post.

  • This melody is copied from Fredric Chopin's Prelude in C#m. Op. 28 No.20. Note for note until 00:54. If you would like to hear the piece as a piano solo type in Ivo Pogorelich Op. 28 No. 20. It is a classical masterpiece. It is also known as the "funeral march". A beautiful piece!

  • @argekay1 "The" funeral march, by Chopin, is the third part of his Piano Sonata No. 2. The melodies are similar, for sure, but if you are talking about THE funeral march, then it's from his Piano Sonata No. 2.

  • what a beautiful version...just piano and him singing..perfect...clean and classy

  • Beautiful. He's like right here, orchestra,....stop....

  • The spirit moves me, everytime i'm near you. DAMN

  • "never leave you 'til my life...is done" @ 2:57 he says it with such great conviction, sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it.

  • @fairyfellermaster YES YES GREAT CONVICTION. HE LOVES HER BUTT. IF ONLY LOL

  • breath taking

  • Some people are born with music in they're hearts. Barry was born with music in his Soul.

  • this is his best song. A MASTERPIECE, GIVES ME CHILLS! I LISTEN TO IT OVER AND OVER. LOOK AT HIS FACE WHEN HE SINGS, HE GOES INTO A DREAM!

    HE IS A DREAM!

SAW HIM AT JONES BEACH A FEW YEARS AGO. NO ONE LIKE HIM.

  • ugh

  • This song has such a haunting melody. It is one of my all time favorites. If we had a daughter she would have been named Melissa after this song. We have 3 boys.

  • Even those of us caught up in the ROCK of the 70s had to pause and take notice when Barry played. Awesome!

  • Masterpiece from Barry Manilow. It was greatly inspired performance!! Thanks for the vid.

  • beautiful Barry,,,,,he was my dream!

  • Theres no reason for me to stay , I want to learn the ways of the force and become a Jedi like my father .

  • I'm getting so worried about the inevitable aging process of such a unique man as Barry Allan Pincus (Manilow). He was born in 1943. I love him so much and want him to live forever!!! Take care of yourself, Barry!!!

  • Simply Beautiful... always....

  • awwww Barry was just about 33 yrs old when this was filmed. I wonder if he knew how many times he'd sing it throught his life. He was on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert when I first saw Barry do this song. Wow!! (plus it was the only good thing on on Saturday nights in the 70's!!)

  • So great lyrics, amazing music, and all those emotions. This song is just great! There won't be such a good music anymore in my life, only pop c*ap, I'm sad that I didn't live in 70s and I don't have any memories with that song :(, but just because it's not new, doesn't mean that I can't have any memories with it now. :)

I just turned 16, and I'm sad that I live in such a commercial times, with all this c*ap music for little depressed emo girls...

  • Who is the one that didn't like this?

  • To those of you that can see the true passion, artistry and emotional human yearning in this song and know that it is the essence of romance. Then you are the reason that I remain blissful at the dawn of each new day. I and I shall try to find you through the fog that has clouded the human condition.

  • his best song......all time....ever.

  • It was the best of times! and I think most of us knew it. Great music.

  • I remember hearing this for the first time on radio. It really inspired me to learn piano. Thanks for posting this video! Did you know what classical piece inspired Barry to write this? Chopin's Prelude number 20 in C minor...

  • fuckin' manilow, what a singer!

  • Take that. Shit. Mr Manilow. Outstanding.

  • I love he!

  • such an amazing song. brings back memories. thank you for posting.

  • The bass at 3:06 and what it builds up is goose bumps for me.

  • @Djaskoe OMG me too!!

  • Wonderful..

How could I miss such a great artist like Barry Manilow in 18 years of my life..

  • I love this song. It is one of the most passionate songs ever created and a genius incorporation of Chopin. A masterpiece.

  • A true Master. Such a beautiful performance. Barry has it all!

  • Robbie Williams is back in take that,i hope he sings again could it be magic on the tour 2011.

  • LADY GA GA OR BLAH BLAH WHAT EVER ...THIS IS WHAT REAL MUSIC SHOULD SOUND LIKE. 70s WERE A DECADE OF GREAT ROCK AND ROLL AND SUPER BALLADS...PEACE

  • @NICKIEYES1977 YOU SAID IT!!!

  • Layer by layer it builds up...whoaaa....it builds up to a cresendo and it slows down to him just playing the piano. Not 'just' but, wow!
