  • Very cosy!

  • Very lovely house, I love the woodwork he does too. I'm surprised it was $3,000, I would of thought by recycling plenty of wood that you could get it cheaper. I suppose he has some appliances that cost money, looks like a gas stove outside? Either way, enjoyed the video!

  • thanks for sharing your pad with us wizard! super sweet!

  • gnar

  • Love the place but how does that old dude own a hair brush?

  • WIZARD!!! XD

  • The interviewer sounds like a jerk.

  • @cootercat486 Absolutely. I am a jerk. Thanks for noticing.

  • @paulwheaton12 haha nice

  • @paulwheaton12 i found you on jacks show and that lead me to permies and that lead me to your pod cast and that lead me to your youtube i have seen and heard most everything you have done have learned a shit load from you and jack alike cant wait for the shows he has you on because i dont think your a jerk i think you are a well educated man with a dry since of humor that makes you funny as hell dont let the haters get you down keep up the good work

  • This little house is wonderful. 'These self-sufficient little houses are perfect for the thousands of homeless families in our state.

  • This is awesome.

  • He's not a minimalist, he's a minimal-ish.

  • @Kheldarren is that like an amish minimalist hybrid?

  • This is the coolest thing I've seen since we moved off the Commune! Very cool.

  • very cool! I just saw a listing for a tiny house/space for rent near me and at a good price, I am very tempted to go and look. its only 200 sq ft and 200$ cheaper then my rent now.

  • Awesome! Heated with a Four Dog Stove, Titanium model. Those stoves are amazing, weighs 10 pounds and will last a lifetime with zero corrosion.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • love it, but...

where is the toilet? and (less important) shower? and what do you do all day, a tv i can live without, but no radio or a couple of hundred books?

    answers appreciated!

  • @TheWhaler1 if you ask this question out at permies.com, I know at least one of the two fellas hang out there ...

  • total hippy. love it.

  • I have 1,860' of garage space alone at my place and as much as I hate to say it, that little place is kind of neat. I don't know if I could live in one quite that small, but give me 600' of home, completely off grid, and I'm pretty sure I could make it work...providing that I still had internet : )

  • These houses are nothing but another progressive fad that do not back the basic beliefs they claim to have. If people are so concerned about capitalism, consumerism, being green, recycling, and doing things for less..there are thousands of great travel trailers up for sale in this country every single day. $2000 & you got the whole thing..give the rest of your money to a homeless person. Done

  • That's a very good answer. We have much to learn from you.

  • you ought to do a tour of joe hollis' off-the-grid house in burnsville, nc!

  • I'm going to build a mansion twice as large as this one.

  • well, to tell the truth...that house that the 'hobbit' lived in ...LOTR...! Me thought it was cool..ONLY...I work on houses that have subterrainian water problems..., ya know what I mean...hard to keep the damp out, let alone the water...esp after a 13" rain like we had in central Pa 2 weeks ago..., jest a'thinkin....

  • well...I's bedurned...,

  • And the point of this little shack "house" is ??

  • @Garyscott7

If you can't figure out a single point, you probably need not ask.

  • @1971mgb Seems that for a whole lot less effort & trouble a simple used travel trailer (pick you length) would provide a base with toilet & indoor cooking during poor weather. But maybe your right, I'm just not hippy enough.

  • One of these days I'm going to run off to California(?) and become a hippie.

  • Would love to see more tiny houses like this. Cool to see the tour of a small house.

  • Ya know if you had bunks beds like we had shipboard in the Navy. They had a clothes storage locker under the matress and were 3 bunks high. Just thinking

  • This is so charming! Definitely looks better than our college dorm.

  • My dream house!

  • Wizard seems pretty cool to me.... that's real nice of him to let us have a lil glimpse into his life. Peace, Wizard!

  • Is it possible to view a person's home without judging them?

  • @isabstmr NO, because your home is a reflection of you, the owner. You are sending a message to your neighbors and friends. It's all about you and what you want people to think of you. Not that this a a bad thing.

  • @isabstmr

Yes,although it depends on how judgmental the observer is.

It's not all about you and what you want people to think about you.

    That is ego and vanity.

Most of us that live in tiny houses could care less. We sleep easy every night unburdened with the cares of those that think your home is your reflection to others instead of a haven in and of itself.

  • He's an old hippy and he don't know what to do, does hang on to the old does he grab on to the new. He's an old hippy this new life is just a fuss, he ain't tryin to change nobody he's just tryin real hard to adjust.

  • i would like a large home but a zero energy design.

  • I bet every single person on this farm owns a copy of Walden.

  • Very cool looking. I just don't understand why all the "Off the grid" people seem to look stoned and unkept.

  • @justmom66

    Not all.

  • Outdoor kitchen, love it! Where was the bathroom/shower area? I'm curious about water, they could probably collect all they needed from the roof.

  • yeah ...this is all fine and good...in warm , non-rainy weather...what about snow..?? have you really thought this thru...?

  • @novokarpati well if they have lived there for 5 years now, i imagine they have pondered it a time or two ;)

  • @novokarpati

    Yes to both of you.

My tiny house is north of Seattle,Wa. The day I completed my last tiny house and moved in 2 years ago it was a cold February day 19F. The tiny house is fully insulated like the Wizard's and at 130sqft plus a 56sq ft loft it is toasty warm heated by a few handfuls of free wood supplied by a nearby cabinet shop.

Small house society has many members in Canada and colder climates in Europe.

  • Interesting, but could a person live in that style of home if it were up north with below 0 weather?

  • If this is in 'Cascadia' could mean anywhere from British Columbia to Northern California. This arrangement would be easily do-able in southern Oregon. Not too cold all year round and very little in the way of bugs, it's too dry in the summer for them and the rain knocks them out of the sky in the winter :)

  • So, how about showing the place where he takes that roll of TP...

  • @renh99 That was my question too.

  • I forget where this is? I would need more walls around my kitchen "when winter attacks"

  • Sweet.

  • Where's the shower? What state is this? Gotta love it! way to go thanks for the share.

  • ...really cool.

  • Before we became Consumers, the cottage was a place you slept, separated from the animals and elements. It's unfortunate, that people have been taught credit, greed and have been relocated from the land and into the Cities. The down fall of the Republic will come from the City Dwellers. "The greatest fine art of the future will be the making of a comfortable living from a small piece of land." - Abraham Lincoln

  • Nice! It looks very cozy, and I like the idea of putting some things outside; you could always enclose the kitchen at some point pretty easily if you wanted to.

    Alllllll the time. : )

  • Comment removed

  • I bet I'm not the only one that says, "Alllll the time" with Paul at the end. :-) (Well I sure hope not! lol )

  • @speedbmp Do you remember the old commercial with Sally Struthers, where she asked, "would you like to make more money, Sure, we all do." When Paul says if you like this sorta thing...I always say, out loud, sure we all do!!!! love you Paul!! no response required!!

  • I love this!

  • Amazingly Hobbit-like. But what about a shower and toilet? Where do they get clean? This house seems to be in Canada so outdoors seems like a lot of the year their choice would be being dirty or being cold. Yikes!

  • I just love to see these tiny cabins/houses. They are inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing them with us. God Bless!

  • EVIL rich bastards....... Minimum MY ASS. i envy youuuuuuuuu hey paul a video on how this king eats would be awsome if you have the time. PEACE

  • @boostedgsrfoadoa some form of agenda here playing out in thinking this guy is gaming the system i suppose - not really the point of the video more on the building of the structure but i get where your going though i think getting political violates part of paul's creed. at any rate thinking we should stay focused on what is right here and not calling out what possibly may be wrong. PEACE

  • @coldiso i really wish i could understand what you are trying to say PEACE

  • Awesome, efficient spaces.

  • Man guys are my hero !!!

  • I wonder if the outdoor kitchen is usable year round... Not too cold in winter? too hot in summer? Plus possibly bugs, flies, mosquitoes?
