  • I saw Tool on July 4th 2010. Where do i live?

  • @themooddisorders Winnipeg! lol

  • @TranshumanCyborg Wrong, Maynard simply sings the positive of acid. When people become of age where memory really kicks in, a chemical is secreted that blocks your vision in a way. Acid or LSD blocks that chemical from being sent out, Which then allows us to see the aura of the world. It's a true fact and Maynard is revealing the idiotic people in the world. Look up facts before making stupid accusations.

  • This video and the sound of tool's 3rd eye and hicks is completely controversy.

  • "Today, a young man on acid realize that all matter is just energy condensed down to a slow vibration. That we are all one continuousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream where we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather!"

This is the quote that me into philosophy and neurology. This, I guess you could say, is what opened up my "3rd eye". Quite interesting how a simple translation of thoughts to sounds changes thoughts..

  • Booooooo!!!! Idiots. Complete disapproval here...

  • like hearing the song again for the first time

  • I can't believe all of the misinformation about drugs thats goin on in the U.S. It's useless to try and control drug usage, people will do what they want, when they want, regardless of what the government has to say about it.

  • @sprat5847 exactly

  • HI..ITS TOM FROM THE WEATHER !!...... TOOL learnt to play from the FUCKING HEART from this man!!! Go watch his vids here on youtube ....read between the lines!!! open ya third eye just once!!!! or are you too busy sippin diet coke like George Michael or listenin to the New Kids on The Block.(they sound better backwards!) or sittin on a rock like a LIZARD waiting to be washed away!! Or look at Tommy he is sqeelin like a pig....real fucking high on drugs!!! WE'LL MISS HIM! WE'RE GONNA MISS HIM

  • fuk did the rest of the song go...fuk

  • to Drugedgens statement " Anger is a very productive emotion. hate is not. people say our music comes from hate, but its really anger." - Maynard James Keenan.

  • I bet Bill is knotting his head next to Jesus saying ''they still don't get it.''

  • @sirg212 so will I...so will you....sigh...thats the comedy though isn't it?

  • shut up fool. you are irrelevant to society and you should go swallow a bullet fuck you thatbastardson, youre fucking Judas

    I LOVE FUCKING MILK!!!!!!

  • how do you have sex with milk??

  • Think for yourself, question athority

    (there's a connection to this)

  • muchumarahakkehn

  • AEnima

  • @osiris05au It's the song Third Eye on the album Ænima.

  • Vote Libertarian, be libertarian. Read Boston T. Party "Molon Labe" and watch Marc Stevens' youtube videos...

  • I don't care to read the preceding posts, I just want to comment that once you learn non-violence, then you learn true inner peace...just a thought

  • There seems to be a little anger and resentment here I like to believe that Bill was spreading a message of love not hate, what he hated was many people's inability to view things from his perspective.

  • Please check out - The Venus Project. Peace!

  • @DrugedGen Not hate... Anger..

Anger is a positive emotion that doesn't exclude love.

  • @DrugedGen Well, I see that kind of a violent resentiment in him too, but the thing is hate is a part of beeing a man. Whether we like it or not, no matter how much we would like it to be otherwise, hate and aggression are part of ourselves, and no matter what you do, just don't deny the thruth. Bill was all about telling the thruth. Only by accepting what we really are we can control ourselves.

  • i was also introduced to bill hicks thru this song. great comedian for people who hate other people.

  • Huh...I don't get that vibe from Bill...I never get hate out of what he's saying, more just pointing stuff out. Just my opinion, though.

    Much love,

  • This is the sickest video I've ever seen, with one of my favorite songs. This song introduced me to the late great Bill Hicks. This video shows exactly how I feel when I listen to this song. Nice job whoever made this

  • this song's name is Third Eye btw if anyone was looking for it

  • one of the greatest songs of all time

  • Never realised Tool were any good til now!

  • tool are radical man!

  • Drugs are an amazing thing so long as you don't get strung out on them. They can and have helped to bring some of the most beautiful songs painting, movies, stories and other things into existence. I give a lot of thanks to drugs. Gotta love them drugs. I'm guessing you don't like TOOL?

  • pfffft, when people call other people they dont druggies. Druggies are people on crystal meth and fucking heroin okay buddy? just cause fuckin tool did some acid to enhance their musical creativity doesnt mean their druggies. so shut the fuck up you cunt, you have to understand tool to be able to say that, and no one but the tool members know the real meaning so fuck off

  • Cry baby.

  • Uh, just because someone tries meth or heroin does not make them a druggie.

Tool are simply a good band, they are not above anyone else.

  • Tool is the best band, not to sound like a fanboy. But I defy you to find anyone who sounds or makes people feel like Tool does.

  • Learn the correct usage of "they're" and "their" please. Also, the first sentence makes no sense, you should probably invest in some English lessons.

  • Who gives a fuck!? Are we in english class right now? NO. This isnt a fucking spelling bee, so shut the fuck up.

  • I've tried opiates similar to heroin and have tried meth, but haven't again, am I a druggie? I don't care what you say really. because I've been clean for a loooong time.

  • i ment people who do it on a daily basis

  • Like how I drink coffee on a daily basis?

And how people drink milk, which has natural opiates in it, on a daily basis like babies?

  • milk is poisen

  • You're fuckin poison.

  • I take that as a compliment:}

  • @Xxero0 speaking of milk, stop drinking milk from other species. (cows, etc.) we are the only creature on the planet that drinks the milk, of other animals. its fucking disgusting. your mothers milk is the only milk you should ever drink, and you are done before you can even remember it. purposely, i imagine.

  • I greatly question your intellegence. There is nothing wrong with drinking something that tastes good and is pretty much harmless. I dont see your logic behind this.. I mean, we kill the cow and eat it... why not drink it's milk, too? It's healthier for you than the meat, and the chocolate variety is fucking delicious.

  • @Xxero0

you aren't supposed to be eating other species as well, but that was outside of this. the more flesh you eat, the faster you die, while polluting future generations. if you are going to consume animal that the usda claims is ok, then don't have kids.

agreed, the chocolate strain is the best tasting, for sure.

  • -_-

Humans are omnivores. That means we are SUPPOSED to eat other species, plant or animal. If we dont.. we die.

  • @Xxero0 or as Slavoj Žižek would say: "Vegetarianism will eventually turn you into a monkey."

  • @thatbastardson

define "healthier".... so if a body builder wants to build his muscles to the max, hes gonna reach for a glass of milk instead of a steak that will help him repair his body quicker?

  • I wouldn't call you a druggy, no. You're a duggy(in my book) when the drugs hold at least moderate influence over your life.

    Much love,

  • Well, you're correct, I have an addictive personality so I have to stay away from people that just hand shit out or I'm doomed... until this fucking planet realizes that we need to unite and go to space I'm gonna feel the need to escape, though nowadays I have different means.

  • what is it called when the anti drug brigade have control over one's life?

Either people make choices; managed by voting and informed debate.

Or an out of touch, conservative authority prescribes alcohol as an acceptable form of recreation. just because.

If justification for such an imposition of lifestyle is attempted by measuring harm, it fails.

drug policy as it exists fosters criminal exploitation, while making regular people victims of crime.

Your implications only add to the problem.

  • Excuse me? Was that really directed at my comments?

    Much love,

  • Comment removed

  • yes, limitations can be useful, like in the case of limiting ones self from jumping from a building. limiting ONES SELF. its called anarchy, no rulers, no heirarchical power structures/ pyramids in which the people at the bottom holding the thing up have the least power and the least amount of knowledge. we all think we're sooo free here in america, and thats what makes us so easy to CONTROL

  • So what does everyone here think about Hicks' quote in the song "It's not a war on drugs, it's a war on personal freedom"?

  • ya i guess i agree but im not sure exactly what that means or if its important because we all have limitations put on us like we're not going to start jumping off buildings because we should have the right to jump off buildings, what im trying to say is some limitations are for the best.

  • No limitation without a victim, is for the best.

There is no morally legitimate crime against self. If you're shown to have "diminished capactiy" you're supposed to be offered support, not jail.

  • One of my favorite quotes of his, but I don't think it's meaning is really all that complicated.

If the government can tell you what to put into your body then you really aren't free. It doesn't matter whether you should or shouldn't use drugs, the point is that this is a personal choice and the government, by criminalizing drug use, is not allowing you to have a right to your personal choice.

This was one of the earliest attempts by our government to limit personal freedom.

  • I think by what he means is that goverments of this world take care of their people (or at least are supposed to) and take their responsibility, but what Hicks is saying is that people should be completly responsible for everything that they do in life.

  • It definitely is a war on personal freedom. The portions of the population that use drugs are the same portions that speak out against the governments. By persecuting these people, via jail and other punishments, they are effectively limiting their opposition. Also by keeping them illegal and keeping the cost high, they are economically hurting their opposition as well.

  • kory right on with tool. my fav 46 and 2;every song they sing gives me goosebumps and fuckin hypnotizes me

  • One of the top 3 comedians and one of the top 3 bands of all time, who could ask for anything more?

  • now here's Tom with the weather...

As pretentious as it is to say, I think this may be Tool's best song. Matter of opinion, and I'll still probably be assaulted for saying so, but how I interpret the song coincides with a lot of my life. Since everyone sees the song a different way, you're all going to differ and the songs personal importance to you differs as well. So good to see you once again.

*I thought that you were hiding from me.*

  • It's my favorite Tool song too. It encompasses so much; it's such a full experience...

  • yeah man this is a great song i think it is my favorite too :D

  • COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hell yeah

  • came out to watch you play, why are you running away?

  • Very nice!!!! what happened to the rest? You should finish the song. good collection of footage.

  • if youre a tool fan then you know this is third eye dont bother commenting that

  • rofl at the sound + visual from 0.30

  • i cant believe so many people posted comments to the first 5 minutes of Tool's Third Eye, and dont get me wrong kuz Ive seen them in concert like 8 times

  • what a badass tool expert here guys^

    thinkforyourself, questionauthority.

  • ^leary expert here guys^

  • well at least you caught on..but i just thought it funnny that somebody would post a comment saying something like that. stating they've seen em live 8 times.

  • ^LSD expert here guys^

  • in case anyone wants to know, the song is called Third Eye.

  • join life camp!

  • what the fuck does greatest mean anyway? I love Bill hicks and Tool. That's all that matters.

  • If you're in a position to say which band isn't the greatest in the world then logically you must have an idea what the greatest band in the world is.

  • yeah leazngurl! whats the greatest band.

Tool's music is inhuman. Danny Carey's drumming draws attention from the gods above. Such energy. Third Eye, my favorite song of theres and Bill Hicks my favorite comedian or seed planter, lol, you could call him. Viva la the members of Tool.

  • Tool is the great band in the world

  • id say joy division, radiohead, tool and the stone roses all share the title for greatest band in the world

  • + mike patton :D

  • In my opinion, spiritual evol. if anything is the point to their music. Not in some cooky way, but in a way that encourages one to embrace the negative as much as the positive....or balance.

Their overall approach is second-to-none as far as how they analyze and discuss certain sounds/images, and the emotions that surface.

Also, to me, TOOL has the most powerful sound ive ever heard which incorporates a balance of light/dark, positive/negative, masc./fem., calm/intense.

    WWTOOLD?

  • very esoteric in their approach...but obviously esoteric unlike most bands...most bands don't even know what it means to be esoteric even though that's exactly what they are doing. you hit the nail on the head there...i am an ambitious musician and Tool and Primus are the two bands i feel really have the niche in progressive rock...im trying to add on to what i think is missing from both of their sounds and through all my efforts and besides my ambition have been unsuccessful..

  • Success is relative, you may never reach your goal but I think as long as you live to learn, learn to love, and love to live, the end result can start to seem trivial. Just focus on the NOW, and embrace it....be it positive or negative.

Btw, you make me want to get back into the drums! It's been a few years, but I'm thinking i'll learn a few Tool songs to get back into it, then go from there.

  • what i like to do is take a favorite song of mine...learn just one little part of it, then add my own creative twist to it and make it into a completely new thing...that, i feel, is the way it should be done.

  • Um video muito sério!

  • Third Eye ftw

  • There is No Bunny.

  • in my humble opinion

tool is the new pink floyd, the message they send with the lyrics and music has a meaning to each and every one of us fans of their music

  • you can't compare man thats a total different era, plus i disagree with you in that pink floyd music instrumentaly was quite simple, where as tool is fucking crazy.

  • it's the message that each band sends with their music ,thats what i was comparing between the two

  • I get what you're saying, but there's a thin comparison between the two bands. Tool is far more cerebral than Pink Floyd, but Floyd basically created the music Tool elaborates on.

  • I don't think that's entirely true either. They're both good and both unique. Tool has very unique messages and they're not merely elaborations of things that have been done as you said.

  • I probably phrased that poorly. What I meant is that, artistically, they might owe some things to Pink Floyd, but otherwise there isn't a band on the planet that can touch either one.

  • Agreed. Karnivool and Mastodon are good too.

  • oh btw.. who cares about what anyone thinks Tool is all about and what they actually represent. Art always was, and is, about the way you interpret it. It's what Hicks based many of his rants on and what Tool demonstrates every time they write a song. It's for you as much, or more, as it is for them.

  • very well said;

    kudo's, I agree

    "life is just a ride"

  • I completely agree with ur points that art is about interpretation and is as self-rewarding as anything, but whats wrong with sharing and discussing personal interpretations?

To me, analyzing and understanding other interpretations can give me more perspective and clarity on any subject, subjective or otherwise.

  • Tool = minimalistic rock => you just don't get it = you have no real appreciation for rock music.

  • and what is the name of your band or are you just another person who memorizes someone else quotes and try to look cleaver dispelling how obvious it is that you dont think for yourself

  • Mmm, don't think minimalistic applies to Tool.

  • ur clearly a cock.dono wot the fck u talking about.you cant be older than 13 im guessing?dont worry my son....one day u'll get it....

  • Guys you should see the interview, the singer says it himself : Music isn't secondary: music is what caries the emotion, words give it some definition.

So yes, they've got a message in their song which is transfered to us, the audience through visual art, lyrics and music.

Now since they seem to connect to the modern (or post modern, not sure) art stream seems they use metaphors in their videos and lyrics.

I like that in their music.

Comment if you have a solid opinion either way.

  • tool prefeccion musical increible

  • Yeah...Tool have stated that they are serious about their music and not serious about life. So no, they wouldn't write a song about my mothers vagina.

  • Tmv8888, what the fuck are you talking about?

  • hey buddy tool is fucken awsome their songs are puzzles you dont realize it though because you listen to all the gay music so your not use to thinking about the songs meaning and dont ever fucken say you love tool your a fucken disgrase

  • I agree with ryoxing...don't say you love tool because Its people like you who are being fucked with by the band..not the ones who truley understand the music.

  • I love maynard's lyrics they're very clever and meaningful. there are no puzzles, really, just references to stuff that people might not know about. those lyrics have helped to open up my understanding of reality and my place in it, and I keep discovering new things in them.

Of course, they are still no more important that the music, which is also awesome.

  • some of us just listen to tool for the music. no every tool fan is obssesed with them.

  • they are called tool because they are a tool to be used for any ends an individual chooses. they are only the means to reach an undefined end. your criticism and judgement are exactly the kind of thing tool stands against. preach, you fucking cynic, spread your infantile regressive shit, but people like me will stomp you are. were more open, stronger, smarter, faster, and basically better than you in every way. hope you're proud of yourself. hence is spelled "hence". speak like an adult.

  • (in reference to tmv8888)

  • othello3713

I like the points u made in your first 2 sentences, but the rest of your comment sounds very egotistical, "...basically better than you in every way?" FYI, there is no better, or worse. Just perspective, whats better for one might be worse for the other.

Also, hipocracy is always amusing. "Your criticism and judgement are exactly the kind of thing tool stands against. preach, you fucking cynic..." You critised, judged, and preached...lol?

    SHARE LOVE NOT HATE

  • thanks for your comments. it is nice

  • othello3713

Oh, and by the way, adults speak and write using grammar. ;)

Lastly, if you were "more open, stronger, smarter, faster, and basically better than you in every way" you wouldn't preach it, you would just BE it....Actions speak louder than words.

Just practice what you preach dude.

  • hahahahaha!!!! So...you're a tool fan who misunderstands the etymology of the band, and by your own description thinks your opinion applies to other fans but not yourself? Tool means it can be used by anyone for anything, and you want to tell others not to. But you yourself have come up with your own conclusion. Can't you see how that makes you a hypocrite? No? Here's a tip - spend a few seconds THINKING before you type.

  • (in reference to tmv8888)

  • third eye

  • how about u get the 2nd part up?

  • this is for thebeartaxes moron. what a prick,if u had even an ounce of the talent that TOOL(MJK)has u wouldnt have 2 fuck your sister 2 get some ass!

  • that must have taken you a long time to form that one up. did you study philosophy ? think anyone out there could come up with better ways to trash these vids ive been waiting for some originality .

  • i agree fuck the video im talking shit about your comment i thought it was retarted, but now after reading your response i realize it's just you who's retarted. is there anyone out there with well thought out intelligent arguments? hate tool all you want but dismissing them as faggots? have something to back it up more than "cum chugger go die" zzz.

  • Are you a retard or a 5 year old? Im trying to figure it out here and they both stand equally strong :S

  • Tool is for people with a brain, at least one they use on a daily basis. It's apparent that what little brain you've got is locked in the pasture grazing, and will never find a way out.

  • homosexuality isn't an insult to anyone with half a brain but your ignorance is an insult to everyone, especially yourself.

plus contemplate this ... it has been proven that homophobes are actually closet gays.

  • even Tool lock their tools

  • imagination is more important then knowledge! Knowledge come second then theirs you and love all the rest migth not even be real... In the sense that you wont know if it is if you dont know it or can feel to prove thats really true.

  • What is the clip at 0:22-0:27 from?

  • uhh. bill hicks. its in the title.

  • a movie called "V for Vendetta"

an excellent film, well worth your time

  • I hope that was a joke. What a piss poor film.

  • It's from a movie called "V for Vendetta".

  • bill hicks sounds just like maynard

  • No, Maynard sounds just like Bill Hicks.

  • THE SONG IS CALLED "THIRD EYE" BY TOOL!

  • Actually, Bill was featured in the artwork. Do not wonder, there are many different versions of artwork of that album.

  • yes, the name of the song is not "drugs". the whole entire thing is from AEnima. "third eye" is the song name. but nice try. and i know i didnt do the AE thing right. i just dont know how to do that on the keyboard o_o

  • says "on drugs" Mr. english professor

  • to do the AE things u hold alt and on ur # pad u press like 134 or somthing, im on a laptop so i cant try it well.

  • yes it is third eye from tool with bill hicks edited at the start as a lil intro. tool were fans of hicks

  • Lol sorry for the confusion by mashup i was under the impression that you were refering to the video / music sync. neither of which are invented by be i just combined the two

  • this is not a mashup. the name of the song is "drugs" by tool

  • it's third eye on aenima

  • yeah who the fuck did you hear that from yuvrajgurung?

  • Maybe from Limewire

  • maybe. maybe.

  • cool !, should put all the song, the visuals are great :)

  • best duet of all time

  • Too good to grow old. RIP Bill Hicks

  • rrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaallly fucking high on drugs

  • Nice. Third Eye is the best song of all time.

  • Thanks.

  • excellent mashup!

  • It's not a mashup, it's a real song.

  • I was referring to the video.
