@bazookajoe77 True, the so called modern people don't speak punjabi, some of them even feel ashamed to speak it.I fear that one day Punjabi will be called as the Language of poors ! like we know what happened with Bhojpuri , many people say its a backward people language and language of Gawaars.Hope this does not happen with Punjabi, even some Sikh kids living outside Punjab are not speaking it.

And yeah the term 'Sikhs' & Punjabis are almost synnmously used today.lol

@flemina007 it already has and it is known fact that within 50 years it will be gone. The language experts say this. In India, it is an old man's language for the hindus. In pakistan, its a poor man's language. Punjabis are moving abroad, with 1-2 generations the language dies off and people stick with english. So this means there is no future for it. Whenever people ask me I always say my language is punjabi if that makes you happy. lol.

@bazookajoe77 excuseeeeeeeeee meeee??? since when are you MR KNOW IT ALL...first of all i live abroad and I KNOW MY ROOTS AND PUNJABI...punjabi language has a MASSIVE influence all over the world!!! hindi and urdu other asian laugauges r minor dont even have much influence .... half of us cant even understand hindi when we watch films we need subtitles. hindi and urdu are same lauguages anyway. PROUD TO BE PUNJABI whether in india and pakistan or where ever WE R ALL PROUD TO BE PUNJABI. :D
