  • its football not soccer

  • compare this league to european leagues this seems like a bag of shit.

here is some reasons it fails

    1.the players are shit

2.even the so-called best goals are shit compared to the english premier league

3.look at the damn crowd numbers they're fucking shocking barely anyone shows up to the games

4.the teams are shit look at north queensland fury they barely made through one season without going bankrupt.

5.the goals come few and far between it takes nearly 89 minutes to get a decent shot

  • @varcolac5 Don't be an idiot. The A-league is fantastic. The best league in Australia for sure.

  • @AdelaideUnitedFC2011 no the NRL and AFL are way better than this shit

  • Fast forward to 0:54 if you want to see goals worth watching.

  • Absolutely nothing special about that first penalty kick...even I could do that...on the other hand, those long shots are beautiful

  • How is a penalty one of the best goals?

  • Wellington Phoenix are Legends

  • lol at archie stealing tim vahils celebration and lol at new zealand knights, they were so shit

  • actually tim and archie are mates, and tim took it from archie

  • @CoconutCoutains It was actually the other way around.

  • terrible quality :(

  • He can't admit that - he's English.

For God's sake, he actually thinks Gerrard is worth a damn when he's not a lying, diving crook.

  • gold coast united and nth qld fury will have some pretty awesome goals soon.

  • That brings me back to my point on Gerrard, Lampard, Ferdinand, Terry etc. World class players each regular, consistent players to the top 4 teams. Gerrard is quite easily Liverpool's best player, as are Terry and Lampard to Chelsea.

  • I didn't criticise the a league because of foriegn players. I said that it had to gain influence from players in their late 30's for recognition. e.g. Romario, Robbie Fowler, Dwight Yorke etc. Having said that it is probably a wise thing to do considering that the a league is only a couple of years old. But that is no excuse for you to criticise the EPL on what in my opinion was a pretty lame and desperate comment.

  • So in essence you're still dodging my point.

I honestly wouldn't care so much, about any league's foreign capacity, however without the EPL's foreign contingent it would be sitting pretty in the top 10, instead of being regarded as number one by plenty of people.

My point is that without ITS foreigners, the EPL is nothing, on the other hand, without its foreigners, the A-League is still roughly where it is now: a fresh league moving step by step in the right direction.

  • main reason why everton is good is because of arteta, yakuba and cahill, all Foriegner.

best player in manchester united is portuguese.

  • But having said that the main reson why Aston Villa are pretty good is because of Barry, Agbonlahor and Young, all English

  • i suppose, but you have to admit that foriegners are usually the stars in epl.

  • Personaly my fav thing bout the A-Leauge is that foreign players MUST be limited.

  • Although the top 4 is dominated by ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool other teams such as Aston Villa and Everton have become far stronger this season and have both been top 4 contenders (The majority of their players actually English.) I know that they have both been knocked out of the Uefa cup by other European teams, but that doesn't make them less good. It just proves that they put domestic glory before European glory.

  • So I ask you then, "pommiefromdownunder", what's worse? A league in its infancy looking to expand its skill and notoriety by looking towards foreigners for help or the top league in the country that created modern football only having the best league in the world because none of its top players are actually English?

Have fun trying to tell me that Rooney, Beckham and Lampard can be rated next to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Kaka.

  • You've obviously been brainwashed with all of the bullshit they tell you about football in australia. Ronaldinho is a has been, and Kaka isn't consistent enough, playing for a mediocre team who couldn't qualify for the champions league this year. I would much rather have Terry, Ferdinand and Gerrard in my team than that cheating maradonna wannabe ronaldo

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...

    Gerrard.

Good God, no wonder it's no use having a conversation with you, you actually think Stevie G's worth something in a team.

    *shoos you away*

Talk about the "might" of English football elsewhere, dipshit. I'd rather have a conversation with somebody that's not a complete moron when it comes to the sport and isn't a sucker when it comes to believing in overhyped trash.

  • When I read your comment I nearly fell off my chair laughing. You say that i'm a moron for believing in overhyped trash when you go and say Kaka and Ronaldinho are the best players in the world. You obviously don't have much intelligence.

  • Ronaldinho's and Kaka's accomplishments far outweigh anything Terry, Ferdinand and Gerrard have ever contributed to the game. Even now as they approach the end of their careers, when Ronaldinho isn't as flashy as in his prime and when Kaka isn't the spirtely lad he once was, they're still miles ahead of the trio you mentioned.

English football, in its purest pedigree, will always play second fiddle to leagues of pure class and quality such as La Liga, Serie A and the Brasilero.

  • Have you ever watched a Serie A or La Liga game. The pace is far too slow therefore resulting in poor quality entertainment. I'd rather watch a 0-0 premier league game than a La Liga game.

  • You'd rather watch a 0-0 Premier League game because you're English. Unfortunately you're conditioned to believe that the Englishmen playing in the league are of a great international quality and that their foreign counterparts are nothing but dead weight.

Tell me something, who, realistically, beyond Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are capable of competing in a prestigious tournament?

Beyond those four teams, the entire Premiership is rubbish, whilst most other leagues are

  • strong, from top to bottom.

Without the influx of foreigners into the English game, you'd STILL be watching 90 minutes of long balls resulting in a 0-0 match that you so thoroughly enjoy.

The English technical game or English short passing game are two oxymorons that are laughed at by people who watch better leagues.

Just because the Premiership draws top players with their money, doesn't mean that the league, overall, is better than other leagues. All the top players are between 5 clubs.

  • It's just a fact that at least over 95%of people in the world who actually know anything about football, say that the EPL is the best league in teh world. And know i'm not saying that because i'm English. This season has been one of the most competetive seasons ever both at the top and at the bottom that alone has made it much more entertaining than any other league.

  • Again, you're missing the point.

The EPL wouldn't be anywhere near the top if it weren't for the FOREIGNERS that inhabit the league. The only reason most consider the EPL the top league in the world, apart from the fact that the EPL is one of the more whored out leagues on the planet, is for the exact same reason you decided to insult the Australian A-League in the first place:

    It's foreign contingent.

So again, I ask you, considering you didn't answer me the first time...

  • What's worse?

A league in its infancy, trying to entice a non-footballing nation to watch its product by introducing foreigners into their league?

    OR

To be considered one of the top leagues in the world, solely because the talent you lure from overseas is better than what you can produce at home?

I'll give you a few days to think about it, Mr. Creator Of Organised Modern Football, then we'll see what tripe you can come back with.

  • I don't need a few days to think about it because i know that i'm right. In answer to your question i think i'd prefer having one of the top league's in the world despite having a large amount of foreign players.

Rather than a league of poor quality and overaged players who couldn't make it into a lower english league reserve team.

I reckon that at least 99% of all football fans would agree with me.

  • And I'm glad you're missing the entire point here.

You slag off the A-League, which is in reality a league that's only 5 years or less in the making, by suggesting we need foreign imports to add value to our league.

Apparently you're missing the fact that without the Premiership doing the exact same thing you'd still be watching 90 minutes of a non-existent short passing game with a volley of long balls thrown in for good measure.

  • The FFA NEEDS to drop the salary cap!!! We could have HUGE stars like Cahill and Harry Kewell if the government would fund more money into the A-league, and if the FFA would drop this stupid salary cap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The key to the A-League continuing is survivability, not expense. Australia doesn't have the sporting market for football to all of a sudden just start dropping the salary cap.

If you want to see Melbourne Victory a few years from now - hell, if you actually want a well-managed, not-in-debt competition a few years from now, you'd realise the salary cap is what's keeping all of the A-League clubs from going bust.

It's not as simple as getting rid of the salary cap to solve all problems.

  • im aussie. wtf is so special about that 1st PENALTY goal!??

  • English is one if the top leagues but english players are overated, lazy and lack technical ability!

  • Obviously were never going to match it with the likes of the premier league, serie a or la liga but i strongly believe that within 20 years, it will be the biggest sport in Australia and on a world scale, i think the a-league could one day match scotland or even holland.

  • Hahah, if that's what you believe.

The English have done shit all with themselves until an influx of foreigners came in and raised the standard of the league to heights it would have never accomplished had it stayed purely British.

You morons would still be throwing long ball after long ball and having thrilling 1-0 matches if it weren't for oil barons taking over your teams and shelling out the money to bring in some REAL talent.

    It's been a long time since '66.

  • England has won almost as many world cups as australia has actually managed to qualify for, unlike you we don't have to rely on players in their late 30's and early 40's for entertainment value. They don't call the premier league the best sporting league in the world for nothing.

  • No, you don't have to rely on people in their late 30s or 40s, just like we don't. At least we don't have to rely on Sheikhs and other well-to-dos to bring in superior overseas talent to make our league appear better than it actually is.

Face it, without the brace of Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and French stars, the Premier League would still be sitting pretty trying to catch up to La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and even the Eredivisie in terms of watchability, skill and technique.

  • We may have a lot of foreign players in our league, but that's because we actually have money. Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga etc all have foreign influence. It's just a fact that you need overseas players to make a league more entertaining.

Correct me if i'm wrong but it sounds almost as if you are delibrately trying to find ways to slag off the premier league. Anyone with a brain knows that it is by far the best league in the world in terms of football, players and entertainment etc.

  • Nice spin there. Everybody knows that without the influx of foreigners to the Premiership, it would still be wallowing in the same drought that...mmm...let's see, accomplished sweet fuck all since 1966.

It even took an Italian coach to show the English team how to qualify with brilliant football when coaches of English and British descent couldn't produce anything noteworthy to add to the trophy cabinet.

Maybe you ought to rely on looking at some facts before trying to dimish another league.

  • ROAR MAN!!!!

by the time of say 2012 it will be as big as the scottish prmier league i rekon

  • NO WAY. Are you joking, I hope you are because you just made a big fool of yourself, the A-League will never come close to the Scottish Premier League in 3 years time, maybe not even in 20 years time. The problem with the A-Lague is the money, i heard that alot of good players, like Carlos Herandez get paid less than $800 a week! The only way the A-League can get as big as the Scottish Premier League, is if the FFA scrap the Salary Cap! But that could also be a bad thing, only time will tell...

  • yeh i agree

    but

i think that qld, melbourne or adelaide could beat hibs or kilmarnock

u might have a different opinion

but celtic and rangers, well u cant compare that to them

i rekon they should ddrop the salary cap too

but the a-league will be boostded by robbie fowler indefinatly.

  • Yeah maybe we could beat hibs or kilmarnock and maybe even motherwell in around 5 years time, i mean look what happened when we played Juventus, we got thrashed 4-1, and that was their reserve squad, but I suppose you can't really compare MVFC to Juventus!!!!

And I completely agree with you, Robbie Fowler is going to make the A-League worth watching!

  • Robbie Fowler? Robbie Fowler is nothing... The Gold Coast were talking to Roberto Carols and Rivaldo. The Gold Coast United might be getting them in the next couple of seasons, as both said they were keen to end their careers with GCU after their contracts with Fenerbahçe and Bunyodkor end. They may be well into their 30's, but they can still play some incredible football.

  • whats the song called?

    i (L) A-league

    victory till i die

so can someone plz get back to me! about that song (: thanks

  • what da song?

  • australian league sucks

  • So does your mother for the right price.

  • good one. NOTTTTTTTT

i cant think of a witty enough responce to that! your too funny mate

  • The wonders of the internet, where random morons are able to post their stupidity for all to see. You say the "Australian league sucks", however I see you're from the UK, where nationally the English have done sweet fuck all concerning football for a number of decades. In fact, if I remember right, the last time we met, didn't Australia beat England?

Anyway, apart from your superb club teams (of which less than 15% seem to be comprised of English players), you really don't have much going...

  • Yes the wonders of the internet. 'ya mom' jokes arnt funny in real life, nor on youtube.

Dont have a go at my national team. Australia are nothing to brag about. Yes you beat us 4 or 5 years ago, in a friendly which the manager changed the whole team at half time. Friendlies mean nothing. We just beat germany away, it means nothing. In a competative match, we could easily beat you, and you cant argue with that.

  • Oh, you seem to misunderstand that I'm trying to lower myself to your level of comedy. I guess it worked, because your attitude shaped up a little since your first insipid, little post.

The fact is that a second-tier footballing nation such as Australia has done more to wow the world than the English team have done in the last ten years; that really says something about the state of English football. We'll see at this coming World Cup how far you've come along, old mother.

  • Oh is that right is it? shame, because 'ya mom' jokes never get old. my first post 'the australia league sucks'...it does though.

Australias team has 'wowed' the world. You no nothing about football if you think that! All australia does is copy england. everyone knows that. If your trying to say australias better than england at football then please think again.

Australia hasnt 'wowed' the world fullstop.

  • I could've sworn all eyes were on Australia at the last World Cup, considering it was our first venture there since '74. During that long string of 32 years we had plenty of English coaches that did nothing for our game or our national team. In fact, with the introduction of Baan into our technical director role, we might be saying 'Goodbye' to the Pommie Mafia that's destroying our game in Australia. English football has done NOTHING for us for 40 years, so we're going to learn from the best.

  • yes it has big time. in the world cup au s tralia did 4x then the media expected and the world, australia wasnt even ment to make it in. there got from rank 22 to rank 11. and st ill climbing the chambers and if uve got a f ucking problem with our great le ague thats only been running for 3 years, then fuck u, epl has been running for hundreds of years, and if u look at the history crowd averages epl was getting less then 5,000 people per game. until the 1950s. but aleague has 17,000+

  • the onl y thing keeping them in buisness is there money, there getting all the players from brazil, and didnt they buy our heros to play for their league , yeah thats rite they did. probably more aussies than brits.

  • Best comment i've seen in a long time :)

  • two shit goals from Aloisi including a pen right down the middle (i like your sense of humour).

  • The penalty wasn't anything spectacular. The rest of the goals were more of what I'd like to see.

  • But it was Johnny A

  • But it was a bloody penalty.

  • Ha. Yeah, good old Aloisi, what's he on now, one goal this season? LOL!

  • how can a penalty be classified amongst the 'best goals'

  • lol....don't make me laugh

  • what the hell

    only one roar goal?

wheres matty mckays 18 yard chip?

  • spon on mate where is seos rocket of a shot? and where is reinaldos back heal?

  • yep, an melbourne have just won it:D

    WOOOT!

  • good vid mate. Go the A-league- Hope it continues to get better

  • Sydney FC's goal against Shanghai Shensura (2) was fucking awesome. I happend to be in Shanghai at that time and we went to the game. AWESOME!

  • how competitive is the australian soccer league and how hard to make one of there teams for an international player

  • lol i saw ernie marrick at my soccer club this morning

  • but u can see the european soccer league???

I mean: Ligue-1, Serie-A, Liga, Premeier league etc.

  • 08 season has started dickead

  • yeah but the talay goal shown was from AFCCL 2007 DICKHEAD

  • um i dont think hes gonna get the 2008 season because its not ova

  • tgif

  • No shit!

  • they only look gay to gay people.

  • Could have been a lot better and there was much better goals then the 2 alosi scored

  • not good at all

  • i could think of heaps of goals that should have been in this clip, and heaps that shouldnt have. its disappointing. the video is dragged out to 5:40 by showing 2 replays of every goal

  • some of those were from the afc champions league

  • and why wasn't zullo's goal vs wellington, kruse's goal vs melbourne and reinaldo's vs adelaide

  • wat were is Zullos goal agianst Wellington thatrs one of the best eva in the a -league!

  • Nice video, but you're missing recent ones, such as Santalab's two amazing goals, Jedinak's cracker and older ones like Talay's free kick, Ceccoli's free kick, some of the goals in 06/07 Grand Final. Lots more that could have replace some of the tap-ins in that video.

  • I made the video before those goals...how am i supposed to include them!!

  • Make a new one and update it.

  • what about adrian caceres ahmad elrich and joel griffiths! oh and can i find a vid of that Ceccoli free kick?? and if u dont know where to find it, what game was it?

  • Who scored the one at 2:50

  • noel spencer

  • I Agree, Brosque is an excellent player, and has alot of potential :)

  • brosque left the roar they didnt get rid of him

  • Nice video dude. What is the song called, and who is it by?

  • Reign by UNKLE

  • im not 2 sure but ive got the dvd of all the goals

  • wats the dvd?

  • great video. but a few issues with me!!!!

    1. where is adrian cacerees goal vs perrth?

    2. why so many goals of john aloisi, they werent even that good.

    3. the second one, even though it was a cracker, it was in asian champions league so yeah

and finally, you chose loads of shit ones from the mariners!!!!!

  • where can i find those videos?

  • sum goals were shit

  • spencer with the best goal there, then elrich.

    great vid 5/5

  • go the JETS

  • great vid thanx

  • what about archie thompsons goal against sydney in season 1? That was better than most of them. He beat 3 defenders at the same time.

  • Loved it...one of the best on eBay!

    ALOISI!!!!!!!

  • lol, i used to go for pparra parraeels4lyf but now i go for melbourne storm:P (i know it has nothing to do with it...)

  • and the selection could of been a lil better

  • that decision to put the penalty as the first goal was terrible besides that it was good.

  • great video mate... all i can say is that u are obviously from sydney and/or love aloisi because half of those goals were crap... aloisi's penalty, for instance... missing some from other clubs such as caceres against perth round 15...otherwise a great video...keep up the good work

  • GREAT VIDEO!!

  • there actually isnt much goals in it. disappointing, could have been way better

  • my mistake it says you joined 1 month ago

  • ok this is weird, it says this was added a month ago yet you have corica's winner against newcastle which was just this weekend gone
