This is coming from a performance guy so blabbering about quality won't mean shit to me, nor is it even true because Toyota has already gotten fucked in the ass on the stock market already.
Something that is being completely overlooked is THAT CHRYSLER ALSO HAS THE SAME PROBLEM that has been happening for years. I have two videos on it and was just contacted by someone in a newer Dodge RAM that accelerated full throttle on its own and crashed into a pole. Chrysler won't even investigate the issue!
This problem may have been happening for years, but the truth is that the problem lies with the plastic peaces in the gas pedal. over time they get worn out and stick. I'm part of these recalls I put the new gas pedals in and get to shim them to keep them from sticking. I haven't gotten to do one yet but I will shortly.
There is no pedal problem I've tested it - No complaints have ever had their EDR's (event data recorder) tested - if they did read them they would find the data that supports Human Error and not some faulty design - get with it Edmunds! - you want proof - go get some real data

They should have a brace on the gas pedal that rests above your toe, that way if the throttle does stick you can pull back on the brace with your toes and (hopefully) it will come unstuck. Some cars in Nascar use them.
It doesn't have to be THAT close to your foot. I'd think that you could put them far enough away so that you can still switch pedals easily which would make it so that you're not pulling back on the brace on accident. But I never thought of that since most Nascar drives use both feet lol
the panels dont offer safety fool, its how the body collapses that grants safety. Lincoln Town Cars, for example, are sturdy, but VERY unsafe. The Engine goes on your knees because the body cant collapse right.

Toyotas recalling 2.3million vehicles that itself shows its not safe. I have test drove a lot of vehicles. My dad used to have a toyota camry 2005 model 2 weeks after parking it in the sun the red camry became faded red car. I used to have a Isuzu trooper 1999 i used to parked it in the sun for around 10 years. Blue colour was perfect i have never polished the body in the life of that vehicle. Camry's shock absorber got screwed up at 40,000km.
Even with a lot of special care. My trooper's shock absorber got screwd up at 140,000km. 100,000km difference. Isuzu trooper is made by GM Chevrolet. Now what do you wish to say about that. I talking through my experiences. I started test driving vehicles getting it for long term test. Refusing it to the core. So, I am giving you guaranty that ford can run better than a toyota.
I mend to say i gave a lot of care to the toyota camry but it was getting problem almost everyday. But my isuzu trooper i never gave any good care but it lasted for more and even now its running good.
Everyone its not. But I used it for 10 years. I used to take it to the desert every now and then. Drift in there. I used to make it jump on speed breakers. It used run so good. Better than anything. I am telling it is reliable through my own experience.

they all have problems ,i have replace a lot of gas pedals trottle bodies for this issue ,the only problem that toyota have is that on other brands the ECU will go into a defaul mode and the vehicle will not accelerate, this is the cause for GM on the K platforms and some of the cars ,on nissan is the trottle body that fail ,i bet the rest have there own problem but we dont hear about it . How come my gas never get stuck playing gran turismo .something to think about.

These accidents and problems are due to HUMAN ERRORS and not mechanical failures.
Furthermore GM had recalled a huge number of cars which are many times higher than Toyota did.

Something that is being completely overlooked is THAT CHRYSLER ALSO HAS THE SAME PROBLEM that has been happening for years. I have two videos on it and was just contacted by someone in a newer Dodge RAM that accelerated full throttle on its own and crashed into a pole. Chrysler won't even investigate the issue!

This problem may have been happening for years, but the truth is that the problem lies with the plastic peaces in the gas pedal. over time they get worn out and stick. I'm part of these recalls I put the new gas pedals in and get to shim them to keep them from sticking. I haven't gotten to do one yet but I will shortly.

There is no pedal problem I've tested it - No complaints have ever had their EDR's (event data recorder) tested - if they did read them they would find the data that supports Human Error and not some faulty design - get with it Edmunds! - you want proof - go get some real data

We're all so concerned about Toyota's that are made here in the US while at the same time this administration ignores over 14 millions unsafe Gen3 Seatbelts in Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, Jeep from 1993-2004 where people have been "ejected" from their vehicles. Chrysler even witnessed crash test dummies being ejected but still used the design. Instead they were given billions in bailout money and helped to be "given" away to FIAT, an Italian company.

Back in the mid-80's, I purchased a nearly new Audi 5000 CS sedan after that period's 'unintended acceleration' debacle raged and drove Audi prices into the dirt. Wonderful car, and (of course) never a hint of throttle modulation trouble. Looks like I'll get the opportunity to own and drive a Lexus IS 350 in the near future. The more things change....

You also know that when they recall, they can fix other problems too right? It doesn't make sense that they are recalling because of pedal problem now. As an engineer and my father before me have said as well, I think this could be a problem with ECU and its a BIG ONE.

Even if the accelerator did get stuck, I can still rely on quickly kicking in my clutch to make sure it won't take my wheels anywhere.

They should have a brace on the gas pedal that rests above your toe, that way if the throttle does stick you can pull back on the brace with your toes and (hopefully) it will come unstuck. Some cars in Nascar use them.

It doesn't have to be THAT close to your foot. I'd think that you could put them far enough away so that you can still switch pedals easily which would make it so that you're not pulling back on the brace on accident. But I never thought of that since most Nascar drives use both feet lol

the panels dont offer safety fool, its how the body collapses that grants safety. Lincoln Town Cars, for example, are sturdy, but VERY unsafe. The Engine goes on your knees because the body cant collapse right.

Toyotas recalling 2.3million vehicles that itself shows its not safe. I have test drove a lot of vehicles. My dad used to have a toyota camry 2005 model 2 weeks after parking it in the sun the red camry became faded red car. I used to have a Isuzu trooper 1999 i used to parked it in the sun for around 10 years. Blue colour was perfect i have never polished the body in the life of that vehicle. Camry's shock absorber got screwed up at 40,000km.

Even with a lot of special care. My trooper's shock absorber got screwd up at 140,000km. 100,000km difference. Isuzu trooper is made by GM Chevrolet. Now what do you wish to say about that. I talking through my experiences. I started test driving vehicles getting it for long term test. Refusing it to the core. So, I am giving you guaranty that ford can run better than a toyota.

I mend to say i gave a lot of care to the toyota camry but it was getting problem almost everyday. But my isuzu trooper i never gave any good care but it lasted for more and even now its running good.

This is awful. Toyota as a brand is tarnished, as it should be. This will question their reliabilty and how well their cars are actually made.
Alot of speculation is that this is not the only problem toyota is having, they are also having electrical unit problems.
All and all Toyota remains as the largest car company in the world, with the most recalls of vehicles in history. I for one will not buy, consider, or suggest one, I suggest you all do the same.

they all have problems ,i have replace a lot of gas pedals trottle bodies for this issue ,the only problem that toyota have is that on other brands the ECU will go into a defaul mode and the vehicle will not accelerate, this is the cause for GM on the K platforms and some of the cars ,on nissan is the trottle body that fail ,i bet the rest have there own problem but we dont hear about it . How come my gas never get stuck playing gran turismo .something to think about.

Its not really Toyota's Fault, it CTS a company that supplies the acclerators to Toyota that has made them defective.
CTS also supplies Some GM vehicles like the Vibe.
These are extermely rare cases, and its absurd to get ur car towed to the dealership.
