@footballmania132 Are you fucking retarded? The stock air box sucks in just as much hot air, probably the same amount (though the design of the airbox isn't as efficient nor does it yield as much power). Dynos have shown that SRIs yield moderate hp while in ideal conditions a CAI will walk all over this thing. But like this guy says, it's a lot easier than removing your res. tank and cutting holes in your fenders. Thumbs up for Injen SRI and MRI.
Wow then using your method of commenting, Youtube must be a giant homework website. GTFO ass. Regardless of whether or not I researched this SPECIFIC issue it's still stupid to leave a "Cold" Air Intake open to "Hot" engine bay air. If there is some benefit as to why they did this then tell me. Don't be a douche and try to call me out.
@footballmania132 First, that's not a cold air intake. Second, it's not stupid. Cold air intakes take in air from right under the fender (near the reservoir). Injen makes dyno proven and tested products which improve throttle response and gas mileage. Dynos on ClubRSX have shown gains of up to 15bhp with a CAI. This feller bought a SRI. And though it doesn't yield as much hp, it greatly improves throttle response and will give you a couple more miles to the gallon. No hydrolock either with a SRI
@footballmania132 So once again you're fucking retarded. You got called out because of your moronic comment. You're a simpleton, go comment on something you have SOME knowledge about.
You fucking douche bag. You never answered my fucking question. Why leave it open to HOT engine bay air?! Wow alright so it's not a CAI. Regardless hot air is DETRIMENTAL to horsepower gains. I'm not saying Injen doesn't make great products. I'm not saying there aren't power gains. I'm asking WHY. So answer my fucking question you egocentric son of a bitch.
@footballmania132Your question doesn't make sense. And I don't think you understand how an intake system works. When is the last time you've looked under your cars hood? You moron, you probably ride a bike or something. Would you like to close the intake? In this case, the SRI sits right about the transmission. When the car is moving there is continuous air movement under the hood. It's called drag douche faucet. He's not going anywhere, so who gives a fuck if he's sucking in hot air?
Then provide answers. Until then, GTFO. Seems you don't understand that hot air=heat soak. If hot air isn't a big deal, then why do superchargers and turbochargers incorporate intercoolers into their setups? Why do people typically opt to install cold air intakes to supply colder denser air? Why do cars produce more power in colder ambient tempuratures? As air heats up, oxygen content declines. That is why you should care about sucking in hot air. Idiot.
@footballmania132 dude the guy danielsalsa is such a dumbass he was arguing with me about my supercharged rsx and said the 06 makes 210 even after i showed him a motortrend article showing only the 05 made 210 and the 06 only makes 210.
Yeah for sure. I wonder why he never replied to my last post? Such a waste of life. Some people should have been aborted. Btw.. How much whp is your s/c RSX making? I own a G35 coupe and am planning on going with a Vortech this coming summer. I know it's two different cars/setups but what are your personal impressions?
@footballmania132 Yeah he didn't answer my last question either, but right now I'm not tuned and with my aftercooler I'm probably right at 300whp and once I get a good tune I should be at around 330-340whp. If your car is daily driven I would deff. go with sc over turbo, the vortech is a good sc for your car. You'll probably make close to 400whp give or take a little!
ok your an idiot you dont tune for an intake you fag. only for turboscuz the timing needs to be spot on. you guys need to not coment on shit you dont know about.
well what u could do is take measurement of that filter and get a aem replacement or buy a aem v2 intake..theres a measuremening video on the aem filters here on youtube
you may not "always" have to remove the bumper for a cold air intake, it depends on the body style of your car. the purpose is to pull cooler air from outside of the engine bay.... so... with that in mind, usually the best place is basically inside the front bumper near the wheel well. if you have objects in the way of your intake's path then you'll have to remove them first hence the reason why you'd want to take off the bumper, but ya it depends on the car.
its much easier with the sr because you dont have to cut fender liners, take off bumper etc...Im actually selling this intake because i sold the car...60 shipped, im on clubrsx if you need any vouches on my end. thanks
Definately not. i have the injen cai for my 03 rsx-s. it barely takes any effort to put in and sounds twice as good as this SR in video. I wouldn't be suprised if you actually lose power from putting in the SR. waste of money if you ask me.
No cold air and short ram same HP not 20 Lol barley 10!!! Its mostly for the sound thats all. Cold is is a tiny better maybe like 1-2 more hp then short at the most. In my opinion no diffrence at all. I went with short so much easier.
i'd really like to see an rsx dyno before and after w/ a cai on it. i'm tired of reading shit online or hearing people guesstimate. lol but you definately got the idea... 20..... as much as i'd like for mine to be +20. that's definately not true.
@icebreaker1588 if you go to the clubrsx website and go to "tech info" > "product reviews" you should find a comparison of the Injen and AEM cold air and short ram intakes. i found it very helpful, hopefully you do to. (IMO the Injen is the best CAI and the AEM is the best SRI)
On an RSX Type-S...yes, it does. Car makes 200bhp from the factory, Injen advertises a 21bhp increase...my car went from 153whp to 168. Assuming drivetrain losses are the same (pretty safe assumption considering I didn't change the wheels, transmission, differential, clutch, or flywheel), that's ten percent...or 20 from 200.
yah i just did it the other day in my drive way for 2-3 hours in like -10.. haha sucks when you need to use your fingers for shit but couldnt move them haha. but oh i got the results i wanted, adds alot of kick. and next.. kpro ;)
elimnates the chance of hydro-lock....only if you have a CAI...if your using Short ram intake then you dont need it...On most systems, the valve installs along the upper portion of the inlet pipe and shuts down induction at the filter when it becomes submerged, rerouting air through its external diaphragm to keep water out and air flowing in only if using CAI
You don't have to do anything with the comp, just take out the stock air box and follow the plug and play instructions unless you get CAI then you need to cut your wheel well open a little
yah wasnt as easy as i thought it was going to be to put in the c.a.i. such a pain, theres a lot of figgiting shit around, esspecially when you have a bypass valve like mine.. it gets in the way of the gears when you shift.. so i had to move some more shit around and tighten it tight against the rad area. but it works very well non the less now haha.
well Im not sure if the v2 is a Short ram. If it is, there really is no differences between SRI. I would tell you to get a Cold air if I were you, youll def notice some gains. This SRI will give you considerable amount of torque and quick throttle, but will still suck in hot air as it sits right next to engine/header etc. If you dont live in an area where it rains or snows much you should def get a cold air intake, both injen and aem make them. hope that helps
because if you live where it rains or snows a lot then there will be puddles. You don't want to drive into puddles casue then the water will get into your engine. If it does then it will bend you rods. It's called hydrolocking.
@brokenBLINKer V2 is consider a a non-short ram. Because it's a Cold air intake. Short ram suck up the engine heat. If you go to AEM site they dont really tell you if it's a short ram or not but you can tell by the pictures and cold intake it said.
injen filters r a bit better than AEM dont know about ther piping. BTW K&N is the the leading filter definatley is a bit more high flow and the piping keeps heat out good i recommend injen or K&N
short ram intakes are retarded. the filter sits right above the headers...sucking up hot air. try turning that sri around so it faces the front! "whatever that isss...." :p
i want them to make to friggin invent short/long intake that way i dont have to worry about water getting in the filter or losing any power cuz of heat!!!!
i would get rid of the short ram and get the long ram injen. theres a thing called a hydroshield for like 25 bucks that goes over the filter and keeps water and stuff out better.
yeah but aslong as your careful it wont happien ya know aslong as your not driving through like 12 inches of water you wont have a problem. Like regular rain and shit like that wont effect it.
20 HP my ass! It might "Claim" but it'll never get you 20 by itself.
