EMG are great Pickups.

But my Peavey Wolfgang has EVH Pickups that are just as strong and PASSIVE

@jayzakk72 its not about strength etc, theres signal clarity , input - output balance, passives have more CLARITY and emgs tend to have a more sterile tone, problem solved :)

Have also read that increasing the power to 18V by running 2 batteries will not give you more volume etc it gives you more clean headroom.

Kind of like difference between a 50w and a 150w amp.

It wont distort and hold its clarity a lot better.

What I was gettin at was that on a VU meter comparison my Wolfgang left my mates EMG's for dead in terms of output

I love how people dog EMGs for being sterile and having poor tone, but look at ALL the guitarists and bassists who use EMGs and how they say they were all blown away when they first heard EMGs. The same thing happened to me. I went to test out a guitar that had EMGs and I instantly heard the difference even when the salesman played a few riffs and then handed it to me. In my head I was like, "Whoa...", so I don't know why people dog EMGs all the time. I absolutely love them.

@Nickhead87 Its all about personal preference mate.for example I bought a schecter Hellraiser(bout one year ago one of my favourite guitars) And it had emg's 81 and 85 to be exact I hated it the 85 was ok.the 81 altough gain intensive was thin and sterile too dead if you will.But i swapped out the pickups with the bareknuckle warpigs set(ceramic bridge) and it was an instant meltdown the tone was unbelievable but i also added a afterburner lol.people called me nuts and split coils. :D.
