I like the song and the lyrics, although it really makes me sad every time I listen to it.

When I listened to your cover it made me sad too. Is this a good thing? I guess yes, because that means you transport the spirit of the song (i.e. what it means to me) very well. :)

@bleachedgreentank I would definitely say it's a good thing. If a song can spark that sort of emotion than i say it's serving it purpose. Its purpose to inspire and help others create inspirational pieces, without that everything would be flat and boring.
