@KazKylheku This is from the 'Live in Japan' release, which included the songs on Made In Japan, plus the rest of the songs over the three dates that were originally compiled into Made In Japan. So it's basically the three concerts. (there's much more info on wikipedia)
every one who says this is not made in japan listen to me
Deep Purple Live in Japan 1972 are three concerts
15 august 1972 osaka, 16 august 1972 and 17 august 1972 tokyo and the "Made In Japan" album is a mix of the best tracks recorded over the three nights and this version is of the last concert (the one in tokyo) the highway star of made in japan was recorded on 16 august 1972. made in japan is just a mix . the original 3 concerts called Deep purple Live In Japan,Made In Japan is the mix!!
@RubenVW95 Whether it was made in japan on not is not the issue, it was not the release that was on the Made in Japan album. Got it? I have an original album and this isn't it!
@RubenVW95 Dude, it is common knowledge that these tracks are not actually from concerts in Japan. Do your homework. There are plenty of videos on here where the band explains this fact.
I agree. Richie Blackmore and this live echo was prevalent on the original mix. This is good, do not get me wrong; but the original was superb, great. Not the original cut from the MIJ album. Must have been pulled from another date on that tour. The original MIJ double album was comprised of music from three shows. Either the mix was't as good or there are lots of missing guitar fills on this cut.

Help! I'm looking for the live version of Black Night that I originally heard on the B side to one of the singles. I can't find it anywhere on You Tube. I'm sure it's on a version of Made in Japan that I had. Gillan starts it with...'Here We go...this is a song called Black Night....Hey..! If anyone can find it and post it, I'd be really grateful.
@Sammo163 there was a recent boxset release called "Live in Japan" which contained the full sets from all three concert dates they recorded....maybe this is one of the new released ones....musically it's nearly the EXACT same, really shows how tight a band they were.

okay people i am a little confused everyone says that this song is not from made in Japan. But I bought this CD 5 years ago and this was in the album made in Japan so why is everyone saying it isn't from the original album? Please Explain?
@italianpizzaboywho there is a 3 CD set that has all three concerts in their entirety... Highway Star on the LP was from the 16th... this one is from the 17th... of course there are subtle similarities, but the solos are different which make it obvious. the concerts on the 15th & 16th I believe were even at the same place too, so acoustics and such would even be similar. (The 3 CD set is lso called 'Live in Japan')

@italianpizzaboywho I think what is meant is that the original 'Made in Japan' vinyl had a definitive version of Highway Star on it. The subsequent CD versions have had other versions. I'm no expert. This version does sound different to the original that was on the vinyl record from 72. Maybe it's technology?
...never heard this version...always nice to hear something different, but i wanted to listen to the Made In Japan version..change the video title..folks are gettin pissed off with being mislead.
creo que este ha sido uno de los mejores discos en vivo grabados, y esta rola, una de las mejores de ambos discos. Excelentisimo grupo de rock (de rock verdadero!!!)
this could be an out take from those live sessions over 3 days, the misinformation notwinstanding, still a good guitar solo, and I too grew up learning those leads ,fills, and solo's way back when.................or it could be from some foreign box-set, or really from anywhere, any boot................................
This isn't the original Highway Star version that appeared on the Made In Japan album back in the day. I don't know where it came from but I had that album and played the crap out of it and I know all the parts of the Made in Japan version by heart. This aint it!
@RubenVW95 Pardon me, but there is only one "Made In Japan" and only one Highway Star from the Made In Japan album. No one has any business throwing the Made In Japan album cover above this version of Highway Star when its clearly NOT the one from the Made In Japan album. Its fraudulent.
@RubenVW95 Good. You agree that there is only one Made In Japan, Highway Star. You think its the best version from those dates and so be it. But its not honest to put the Made In Japan album cover up over this song and claim its from the Made In Japan album when it clearly is not. I was expecting the Made In Japan one, not this version. It was disappointing because its a clearly inferior version. That's probably why they didn't use it this version on the album. This isn't your channel is it?
Wow- I got this album on vinyl in 1973 when I was 13 years old. I grew up with Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Alice Cooper. Many steering wheels since then have suffered damage from those bands via the riffs the greatest bands in rock have played since then. 70's rock. If you didn't live it you really just don't know.
they may argue if LZ is better than DP, and so on.. fair enough... but clearly no other band is as good as DP in gradually entering instruments, one after one, into what eventually becomes a fantastic unison performance of the band in whole!... check the Smoke on the Water, and this very song, of course!...
In my opinion (and that of MANY others!) Made In Japan is the finest rock and roll live album ever released. For me, aside from hearing Smoke On The Water on an AM radio station when I was in Alaska for the summer that I could hear from Seattle
I own this Vinyl and I love it.

okay people i am a little confused everyone says that this song is not from made in Japan.

Maybe it's technology?

creo que este ha sido uno de los mejores discos en vivo grabados, y esta rola, una de las mejores de ambos discos. Excelentisimo grupo de rock (de rock verdadero!!!)

One OF the best live played songs

this could be an out take from those live sessions over 3 days, the misinformation notwinstanding, still a good guitar solo, and I too grew up learning those leads ,fills, and solo's way back when.................or it could be from some foreign box-set, or really from anywhere, any boot................................

This isn't the original Highway Star version that appeared on the Made In Japan album back in the day. I don't know where it came from but I had that album and played the crap out of it and I know all the parts of the Made in Japan version by heart. This aint it!

@BloodStarr
the made in japan album
is a mix of the best tracks from 3 concerts 2 in osaka and 1 in tokyo
an the highway star you mean is the highway star from teh second night in osaka and this one is from the last night on tokyo ;)

BloodStarr 1 year ago
@BloodStarr yes there is one made in japan
but there were 3 shows in japan 15,16,17 august
and this is the best highway star from the 3 shows
the other 2 are on deep purple live in japan that album contains all the songs that were played over the 3 shows
RubenVW95 1 year ago
