I just moved into a more urban area in Utah and I've dropped 75% of my calls with ATT in my new neighborhood since I moved in. How frustrating is this when you are in a population center and regardless of the time of day I can't use a service that I pay $90/mo for?!
I unlocked my iPhone because I bought it in Japan. My god your network is bad! I can't receive reception in my house. even in some area in San Francisco you can't receive 3g only edge. I never had this problem when I was living in Japan. can you guys at least let us use Google voice since I can't receive a signal most of the time? Thanks!
I live and work in the middle of NYC and yet I cannot make a call at home or at my office - for $100/month there is simply no excuse: you sold me the service (in fact you wont let me out of it) - if you can't make it work you ought not to have offered it in the first place and frankly I'm not interested in why it's so difficult for your company.

@xmusicxfrk - That's part of the problem; ATT delayed release of MMS because they KNEW they didn't have the infrastructure to support it; however those of us that hacked our phones have been doing it and more (mobile tethering, etc) and that creams the network.. my phone is still jailbroken but ive stopped tethering and other network hogging apps!
The 850 MgHz spectrum is not as easy to acquire as you may think. It must be bought from a company that is already using it. If someone is already using it, then the FCC must approve ATT to purchase the license. In essence, they must buy out the company that already has it. So... it takes a while becuase ATT must buy all of these companies out. Tough task. For example, the acquistion of Centennial Wireless has taken the FCC/DOJ nearly a year to approve. Duh... it's gonna take a while.

Have you considered emailing your pictures? It allows for the file to be larger and the picture quality to be higher. MMS only allows for a very small file size (not sure exactly but it is like 225kb)
you might have to sync again and then it'll mention a ''carrier update'' when u update that you have to turn your phone off and back on then the little camera should show up in the text messages.
Shame on at&t...(fastest nation 3G network...) MMS finally available in late Summer 2009(beginning of Autumn...), I doubt if their server can stay up~

Ive been an AT&T customer for about 8 years now and cant complain. Only thing i want to know Why does all other countries that have the iPhone avaliable have been tethering and using the MMS features since the launch of 3.0 and we still don't have it. I thought this video was cute and all, but still making your customers pay 30 dollars a month just to own an iPhone and no MMS is horrid. Im sure when ever you allow tethering to occur here in the US you will make it free but i highly dought it.
Fuck you AT&T, I frankly don't care if you've seen an increase, that's why you expand your network. Verizon/T-mobil/Sprint all seem to do fine, and are now selling off EXTRA bandwidth to devices like the kindle. I'm not having problems sending texts/browsing the web I just can't call anyone. Also, it's not like the 87 KB photos you send over MMS are really that big a deal, let's talk about the 10 MB + songs you can d/l. I maybe send 1 mms every few days, and wouldn't miss it.

I'm usually not one to complain, but someone needs to call-out AT&T on their failures, and I have no problem stepping up to the plate along with others. Instead of coming on YouTube giving us a "Smartphone 101" you should say, "We are truly sorry we could not have provided you MMS sooner, and to make up for it, we're going to change the way we bill for MMS - it will now be included on ALL AT&T iPhone plans at no extra charge. Then you'd be MEETING the competition, but still not leading.

When I pay over $120 a month for a service I would hope it would work. I had MMS working a day after the 3.0 beta before it was blocked. The long code thing was HORRIBLE.

So far as 3G availability, there are a pretty decent amount of people where I'm located, and there is no reason AT&T can't provide a 3G network in my area.

I drop between 2 and 10 calls a day, Monday was the record with 10. Of late, I often must reboot the phone to get it to latch onto a signal, even when I know I am in a good 3G signal area. Sometimes my phone reports "no signal" until I reboot.
I live in Fort Collins in CO and driving to Denver I lose my signal 3, sometimes 4 times on the drive. This in a major metro, high-tech area. This is completely unacceptable.
It's gotten so bad of late, that I am now shopping Verizon again.

Wow, I'm sorry for all of you people having trouble. I traveled around seventeen states in January and February with good connections overall. I'm in Austin and rarely have problems day to day. I haven't dealt with ATT directly since getting the iPhone, but their customer service was friendly and useful under my prior contract, and I see no reason for getting treated differently now. I wouldn't turn down faster speeds, of course, but I've definitely gotten my money's worth.

-Reduce monthly costs.
-Offer iPhone upgrades to existing customers at 2-year contract subsidy prices.
-Offer some sort of monthly plan where we can add a small upgrade fee every month to pay for future upgrades once new iPhone models are released.

AT&T sucks. I can't believe I got suckered into buying an iPhone. I haven't had a single call go thru uninterrupted since I got the iPhone in mid 2007. This is an understatment. I'd say 80% of the time I can't make a call period. Now I actually have reservations and mental misgivings about pulling my phone out of my pocket, so now I don't. Having AT&T is like not having a phone. If you want an Apple experience, get the iPod Touch, and save yourself $70-$100 of wasted money PER MONTH!

I bought the iPhone in 2007 and had more dropped calls the first weekend than I had in FIVE YEARS with T-mobile. And this was in Manhattan.
Since then, it has only gotten worse. Texts arrive hours late, dropped calls occur daily. If I'm lucky, I'll get voicemail for all the calls that I miss because my phone doesn't ring.
To add insult, data rates are up 75% (from $20/mo to $35/mo) and my rollover minutes were zeroed out when I upgraded to a 3GS.

AT&T is so screw after this year. After Verizon gets an iphone, many will make the switch or actually buy an iphone. AT&T is so stupid for not making changes way back when the iphone 2G came out. Service sucks and contract prices are ridiculous. The only reason why I'm with At&t is because I like the iphone. I will make the switch as soon as Verizon get his own version of the iphone.

I pay $30 more a month for a data plan with no MMS, and I get less minutes and less messages than I had with my T-Mobile Sidekick. And I still have no MMS on my iPhone, even after the 3.1 update?
Not only is that bad business...it's just rude. I can't wait until another carrier gets the iPhone so I can leave this horrible money-hungry company.

Ive been an AT&T customer for about 8 years now and cant complain. Only thing i want to know Why does all other countries that have the iPhone avaliable have been tethering and using the MMS features since the launch of 3.0 and we still don't have it. I thought this video was cute and all, but still making your customers pay 30 dollars a month just to own an iPhone and no MMS is horrid. Im sure when ever you allow tethering to occur here in the US you will make it free but i highly dought it.

Fuck you AT&T, I frankly don't care if you've seen an increase, that's why you expand your network. Verizon/T-mobil/Sprint all seem to do fine, and are now selling off EXTRA bandwidth to devices like the kindle. I'm not having problems sending texts/browsing the web I just can't call anyone. Also, it's not like the 87 KB photos you send over MMS are really that big a deal, let's talk about the 10 MB + songs you can d/l. I maybe send 1 mms every few days, and wouldn't miss it.

I'm usually not one to complain, but someone needs to call-out AT&T on their failures, and I have no problem stepping up to the plate along with others. Instead of coming on YouTube giving us a "Smartphone 101" you should say, "We are truly sorry we could not have provided you MMS sooner, and to make up for it, we're going to change the way we bill for MMS - it will now be included on ALL AT&T iPhone plans at no extra charge. Then you'd be MEETING the competition, but still not leading.

I live in NYC, and go to college upstate.
Regardless of where I am, AT&T will drop my calls.
Usually anywhere in the ballpark of 2 to 10 calls a day.
So far as 3G availability, there are a pretty decent amount of people where I'm located, and there is no reason AT&T can't provide a 3G network in my area.
You should get a contract with AT&T before you start defending them.

I drop between 2 and 10 calls a day, Monday was the record with 10. Of late, I often must reboot the phone to get it to latch onto a signal, even when I know I am in a good 3G signal area. Sometimes my phone reports "no signal" until I reboot.
I live in Fort Collins in CO and driving to Denver I lose my signal 3, sometimes 4 times on the drive. This in a major metro, high-tech area. This is completely unacceptable.
It's gotten so bad of late, that I am now shopping Verizon again.

Wow, I'm sorry for all of you people having trouble. I traveled around seventeen states in January and February with good connections overall. I'm in Austin and rarely have problems day to day. I haven't dealt with ATT directly since getting the iPhone, but their customer service was friendly and useful under my prior contract, and I see no reason for getting treated differently now. I wouldn't turn down faster speeds, of course, but I've definitely gotten my money's worth.

I got my iPhone 2 months ago and I was scared. All the hating and people saying that my calls will be dropped all the time. I will never have full bars using 3G service. All of it was BS for me. I get full bars in elevators. I always have a signal and have never got a dropped call.

AT&T, do something to help out your current customers or we will flee to another carrier once your iPhone exclusivity is over. Do something to gain back our loyalty before it's too late.
Ideas:
-Reduce monthly costs.
-Offer iPhone upgrades to existing customers at 2-year contract subsidy prices.
-Offer some sort of monthly plan where we can add a small upgrade fee every month to pay for future upgrades once new iPhone models are released.
Please do something for us. We deserve it by now.

AT&T sucks. I can't believe I got suckered into buying an iPhone. I haven't had a single call go thru uninterrupted since I got the iPhone in mid 2007. This is an understatment. I'd say 80% of the time I can't make a call period. Now I actually have reservations and mental misgivings about pulling my phone out of my pocket, so now I don't. Having AT&T is like not having a phone. If you want an Apple experience, get the iPod Touch, and save yourself $70-$100 of wasted money PER MONTH!

Since then, it has only gotten worse. Texts arrive hours late, dropped calls occur daily. If I'm lucky, I'll get voicemail for all the calls that I miss because my phone doesn't ring.
To add insult, data rates are up 75% (from $20/mo to $35/mo) and my rollover minutes were zeroed out when I upgraded to a 3GS.

Who is "Seth the Blogger Guy?" I'm not disgusted with AT&T nor am I anxiously awaiting MMS on iPhone, but I have to admit this video is terrible. The video has a leave me alone and quit bothering me attitude to it. Seth has about as much charisma as a wet noodle, should try adding an element of friendliness, and maybe even smile once.
I'd guess Verizon has experienced the same growth in traffic if not greater. I don't see them disabling simple features or producing excuse videos. Very weak

*sigh* AT&T. I've been a customer for over 5 years now but I must say this is truly sad. It's as if you have to explain yourself to the consumers on why you suck so bad and its like "hey, stop yelling at us, you're hurting our feelings!"
If and when Verizon gets the iPhone, there goes everyone who owns an iPhone or wanted one with it.
