  • Turboprop noise on flight?? OMG this looks good!!

  • poor mans c-17

  • Well done Airbus,well done.

  • The Hercules has got to retire'n'g'fishing w/ my grandpa' ... GO-A400M!!

  • thanks for the video... 5 *'s

  • So....the ol' 130 and the c-17 decided to have a baby??

  • Wow, this thing is a beast! A fast beast!

  • Very impressive...loved the way it stopped in such a short distance using reverse thrust..

  • With the rising price of fuel could we see new or existing Arbus or Boeing airliners like the 767 to787 or even the jumbo being developed with this new propeller technology from the A400M. It would be intresting to see.

  • The C-130 is always being upgraded and in the future they will be buiding a cospasit verision, wich will be stronger and faster.than this Airbus, although this Air bus is really impressive.

  • The C-130 ia in a class by itselft,, sorry

  • c-17 and c-130 had a baby

  • i got some really nice video of this, might put it on - was a brilliant day at RIAT as usual.

  • VERY quiet AC!

    Nice :)

  • I don't know the exact figures, but I certainly know that the German Air Force included short, unprepared air strip capabilities in its requirements for a new transport aircraft. The A400M will replace the C160 Transall, which means it must be able to take off from and land on unprepared air strips of around 1000ft length, plus it has to provide strategic air transport potential of some extent. So yes, it can do what a C130 can do, only faster and with higher payload.

  • That plane has both the looks of the C-17 and C-130. Its a mutant to me.

  • press F13 for better display

  • Made in Spain :D

  • @SAACAAS No Made in glory Europe ;)

  • @bugattipenner OK accept your correction... Made in Europe

  • Impressive, fuselage looks a good deal usefully larger (width wise) than a C130. Nice STOL takeoff & landing. Good plane I think, efficient wing & engines.

  • Fail ! 12 tons over weight?? how does that happen? over budget to.

  • Why does airbus continue to copy Boeing??

  • @N412MC Since when are they copying Boeing? The template for strategic/tactical military airlifters has been around for a long time. The C-17 is a great airlifter but not suitable or affordable for every air force. This plane fits a gap between the C-17 & C-130.....good on Airbus.

  • @N412MC Why copying? An Aircraft need wings ;)

  • C-17 fucks a C-130

  • Outstanding short landing ability I think

  • don't ask me why, but the sound of this aircraft at 5:35 reminds me the spitfire

  • just climbs, like no problem

  • What a lovely, tight display at 7.35 of the Green Refuse Recepticle Display Team...a classic, I think you'll agree?

  • @staffsmole hahaha

  • Fuck!!! Que avion tan pequeño!!!!

  • scarebus

  • @DranQNitrouS Ok, now tell me how many pieces from outside France has a Renault car? it has a lot of stuff from outside France and still its "Fabriqué in France".

Like almost everything in this modern world the A400M its made from different parts from different countries, but the fucking cuestion is that all those parts are put together in Spain, CASA Factory, Sevilla, end of the argument ok?

    Happy new year

  • surprisingly quiet...i have c-130's flying over my house every hour and damn are they loud.

  • The US uses the C-17, and built it, because it can haul an M1 Abrams tank. The A400 can't do that. But, they could use the cheaper A400m to haul the striker or Bradley and have placed a tentative order for 100 aircraft. If they don't purchase them, the 400m program could die. Comparing the C-130 to the A400 or the C-17 is futile. Each has it's unique capabilities. The C-17 is superiour in capability to the A400 as it is to the C-130. You buy the plane to fit the mission.

  • The C-130J is a very proven and capable transport. It can carry a higher load than the A400M and is more cost effective.

  • @HuasoPodrido

The A400M carries almost TWICE the load of a C130J. Maybe the C130 is more cost effective, but it's basic design is from the 50s.

  • @blablubb12345 , you are correct sorry for the oversight on my statement. However, A400m has encountered various preformance problems that allows the C-130J to be the better choice. True it is a 60 year old design but has held up well. In a cash strapped situation I believe NATO will stay with the C-130. I will say however that the A400M is one of the most inovated transports I have ever seen. Merry Christmas.

  • That thing lands like a paraglider!

I guess it would be a different story fully loaded, but still a lot shorter than C-17

  • MADE IN SPAIN BABY!

  • @Semeiron It's made by the European Union.

  • @glendelio Yes of course, but in Spain, in the CASA factory...

  • love the plane

  • Sorry i made an error earlier, it's not 6 billion but 4.8. that would still buy a lot of C17s and their support. As for noise an modern turbofan is a lot quieter than a prop driven aircraft at take off, having worked at both Lyneham and Brize.

  • Wow, it literally stopped on a dime. Very impressive.

  • Great video, great aircraft, great quality footage.

  • With C17's doing main resupply route into theatre and C130 passing frieght forward, there is no need for this aircraft.

  • C-17s cost $500 million. Not many can afford that, much less cash strapped Europe. I would rather have 4 of these than a C-17 and I presume most countries will as well. C-130 is obsolete now. A400M is an incredible aircraft, very quite too which a great plus flying into hostile territory and keeping people living around the airbase happy.

  • @stalkingalizee Does the A400m price include the 6 billion euros that each country had to stump up for the continuing development of the A400M, which doesn't include the unit cost of the aircraft.

  • Yes, that is why the price estimate is now $125 million and not $80 million. The increase is to cover development costs.

  • @stalkingalizee Devide that number in half you idiot.

  • @stalkingalizee Agree with you but not about the C-130. The latest variants are not obsolete, they just don't have the legs of the A-400. I see this as a different class of aircraft, something in between a C-17 and a C-130. Might not be a bad strategy at all for Airbus.

  • @stalkingalizee what is the assault strip and takeoff numbers for this thing? If it is not matching the C130 numbers the 130 will still be around for some time.

  • @zx12ryder A+400m is 3 time a C130 in load, speed and max dist

  • @bingofioul yeah but answer the question i posted....can it do the assault strip business as that is whats needed in remote area situations. You need an aircraft that can land on short strips and take off from them. I dont know what the A400M is capable of but i do know what the C130 is capable of since i was on an C130 aircrew for a number of years. The A400 seems to have a nice short takeoff distance and this will be determined by load weight but ....what are the numbers for it?

  • @zx12ryder look at this, watch?v=_MdMeJ7zIr4 ,tech spec, chears

  • @bingofioul good video i really like the A400M however other than load capability and distance which is important it isnt too much different 118 combat troops against the 92 of C130 not that big of a jump. 30,000 feet which is the same for a H model 130's and the J model can go even higher. same type of defense systems...hercs can also refuel inflight if setup to. Will they make an A400M gunship?

  • @zx12ryder i don't know, i think the A400M is between the C130 and globemaster, i'm sure there is an operationnal need for it,different from C-130, if someone have more information ?

  • @bingofioul Wooooaaaaa!!! About 2 times load, 100 km/h faster same ceiling and close to same range.

Not 3 times everything. I wish people would stop posting fantasy data.

  • @silverfox441 i was just meaning that A400 and c-130 are not in the same cathegorie, sorry for the wrong quick said data...

  • Respond to this video... looks like it has the NP2000 props on in also which is pretty cool and keeps it quiet.

  • @zx12ryder

The A400M has Ratier Figeac FH386 propellers

  • @blablubb12345 ok cool thanks for the correct info.

  • @stalkingalizee The C-130 Herc may be getting a little old, but it is still a proven and reliable workhorse. Yes the A400M is impressive, but with the economy of the world, we will still see the Herc around.

  • @rock853okg With the Euro trading at depressed prices, more countries will be able to afford and make it a better buy than C-130s.

  • @stalkingalizee if little Australia can afford 6 c-17 im sure Europe can afford some c-17s

  • @MrFattyfatfatboy 6 C-17 isn't enough to fill the transport fleet of a major Euro military, not even enough for a squadron. Blow billions there and you don't have enough to fill the rest of the roles. For the same price you can buy a common fleet of A400M in several squadrons.

  • @stalkingalizee 6 c-17s equate to 12 a400ms in cargo with half the crews then all you need is buy c-130js like canada and Australia and some c27j for small fields like Aus and its all covered the thing i cant believe is our defence is even thinking of wasting money on buying 12 of these when our c130js are still brand new it makes no sense ,just like they bought those 5 airbus tankers when at the same time crying poor on greenhouse gas reduction incentives people were banking on

  • @MrFattyfatfatboy 6 C-17s equates to the price of 18-24 A400Ms, depending on options. A400M has 2/3rds the cargo volume of the C-17, most payloads are not armour which is what C-17 is good at. For the everyday loading of pallets a single A400M is 2/3rds effective as a single C-17 for far less initial and operational cost.

  • @stalkingalizee OK so you got all the facts im not going to bring up tech stuff against you but im back here in oz reading on how my taxes went to 46 eurocopter eh90s ,5 A330 tankers 22 eurocopter tigers 10 c27j's so like the article i was reading said we should put an embargo on defence salesman from airbus and associated companys from coming to these shores as they must have some dark dark secrets on our defence minister or he is on the take either way the c130j's all we need.

  • @MrFattyfatfatboy It all comes down to cost per tonne and A400M has a 2:1 advantage. I don't know why you hate EADS products but that is your personal issue.

  • @stalkingalizee nah it not just EADS , the only people im mad at is the Aust dept defence, so ill let you be and attack the people who need to be attacked on where tax dollars belong, unless your a salesman for said company then you were warned(in friendly manner) thanks for your answers im off to post things on our current govt home site and tell them what i want the revenue they have to spend , spent on, good luck.

  • @stalkingalizee Prefiro o C-130!

  • We saw this from our camp site at the end of the flight line - tough plane.

  • BIG

  • USAF would love to have one of these.......shame that Boeing can't produce an aircraft with such capabilities.

  • I was there - at the 5.55 minute 120 degree moment there were audible gasps by all around me. Excellent video - thanks

  • Great video, cheers for uploading it.
