I dont know if this is going a bit too far but all I could see while watching him perform was Alexei Yagudin.....Alexei is my all time fav figure skater and this guy is deffinitly up there! :)
Hi! I'm looking for a video of Patrick Chan at the ISU four continents exhibition 2012. He did a great and funny choreography on some sort of rock music, wearing jeans and a white T-shirt. Can you recommend me where I could find it?
@TheSnoopyG Just type in Patrick Chan Mannish Boy on Youtube search and the videos will appear. I prefer the Japan Gala Ex where he debut his new Ex. The Ex at 4CC was a a bit sluggish (probably still recovering from the altitude atmosphere). You can find the Japan Gala Ex next to the 4CC Ex. His new Ex is HOT! :=))
Seriously, I don't understand the logic behind all of these dislikes. This is a beautiful and high-quality figure skating vid and whoever made it available for the rest of us should be commended. People should leave their patriotic preferences out of it. Disliking a vid simply because one doesn't like a skater is stupid, counter-productive and immature.
I honestly respect Chan for the effort he has put into the details of this program, and his skating qualities in general. Though I do feel his scores are inflated at times, and I suspect will be at this Worlds, I try to remember that it is the judges who are to blame. I often agree with the placement, and yet I often disagree with the degree to which he is scored above other skaters. He is incredible all the same.
The more I watch this long program, the more I am in awe of the GENIUS and BEAUTY of Patrick's skating. He just glides effortlessly across the ice and his jumps pop out of nowhere and are effortless yet powerful. The choreography and the music really brings out the lightness and elegance of his style. This program should be very difficult to be beat at this year's world championships.
Usually I'm not a big fan of Patrick just because his inconsistency often detracts from his performance, but I gotta hand it to him on this one. When he's on, he's unbeatable.
@marliecage Inconsistency?! What sort of gibberish are you spilling out of your mouth? He went UNDEFEATED last season! You call that kind of dominance inconsistent! Get your facts straight! He was the only one to consistently land his quad in competition last season! And as for his rivals this season? Takahashi still can't get his quad to be reliable, Hanyu is young but has the goods, Fernandez is green when it comes to big-time competition events and Abbott is a wild card.
@kmw30pianist I'm not talking about inconsistency in scoring. I watched him during all the grand prix events this fall, but this is the first time since last worlds that I've seen him skate clean. And I don't really care about his "rivals..." For me inconsistency doesn't have to do with how other people skate relative to him; it has to do with how HE skates relative to himself.
I'm not trying to be combative here; I'm just stating my personal opinion. Please try to not get defensive.
@marliecage Point taken. However, let's keep in mind that it is difficult for skaters to be totally "clean" in their performances during the beginning of the season. Patrick himself admitted during the Grand Prix season that needs time to get used to the new long program. In fact at the Nationals just a few weeks back, his long program WASN'T entirely clean. He missed his opening quad-triple combination. However he had the presence of mind to add another triple-triple combo later on.
@Bamasajd Yeah. Like Irina Slutskaya in Salt Lake City. I mean Turin. Oh, sorry, I mean like Domnina/Shabalin in Vancouver. No, I mean Kavaguti/Smirnov in Vancouver. The brilliance of Russian skating is astounding. But to dismiss the rest of the World like you do.... foolish.
@Bamasajd Umm, time to face reality buddy. Russia is no longer the powerhouse in men's figure skating as it was for so long. Before they had Urmanov, Kulik, Yagudin and Plushenko.
Their current star Artur Gachinski, is all about the jumps. The rest of his skating lacks character or personality. As for Plushenko coming back? Ppff. Let's see how his body holds up leading up to Sochi. He's already stated that he's physically not ready to compete at this year's worlds.
@Bamasajd When did I ever say Russia/Russian is always at the back? I don't care whether Russia is in front, middle or back. I just enjoy a good skate irrespective of nationalities, but do not like fanatics insulting others just to prove their superiority. If you want respect, prove it. Insulting others will never get you anyway.
@Bamasajd You should verify the facts before saying such things. Go to Wikipedia and check for the men's gold medalists of the World Championships in the last 50 years. You will count 12 canadians (flag was different in 1962-63), 11 americans and 11 russians (or citizens of the USSR)... Sure, Yagudin and Plushenko were dominant from 1998 to 2004. But that was 8 years back already. So please come back to reality.
@Bamasajd Oh shut your trap. You're mediocre at best! Quit posting stupid comments. Just admit you're not a fan of Patrick's at all. Better yet, DON'T COMMENT at all and leave the commentary to true fans of Patrick's and true skating fans!
If Chan (a canadain) thinks he will come back from Sochi (russia) with a gold medal after Plushenko (a russian) was robbed in Canada, then he can think again. Silver maximum, possibly even bronze.
And when he asks why, he will be told "because your medal is around Lysacek's neck".
@HotChixAndMusic What the heck are you mumbling around? What revenge are you talking? It doesn't make sense. Just say you prefer Plushenko to win gold at Sochi. Don't be an overly fanatical fan with senseless talk.
@HotChixAndMusic Plushenko was NOT ROBBED at the 2010 Olympics. You fanatics are SO BLIND and IGNORANT! If you had watched very closely, Plushenko was shaky with many of the landings on his jumps as the program went on or he had poor air position. That would result in lower GOE marks. Also his choreography was gimmicky at best and lacked substance. Unlike with the old 6.0 system, you can't get away with crappy skating. End of discussion.
I don´t understand why so many dislikes on this video. What did he do wrong? He was clean for the first time this season, maybe people like his funny falls, I dunno. LOL!!! :)
I'm guessing that if Chan were the national skater of those who are clicking dislike, they would be loving him and adoring him and defending his scores. And you wouldn't hear me complain because I do think Patrick is a brilliant skater.
OMG. The sequence from 1:15 to 1:50. Just look at the EDGES. He should win just for that.
A beautiful performance, start to finish....just flawless. All the haters out there are simply frothing at the mouth. But we Chan Fans are having the last laugh.
Let the haters hate. What a stellar free skate Patrick pulled off here, he gave me goose bumps more than once during the performance. I love the way he involves his whole body in the program this year, he is so elegant and graceful and such a force to be reckoned with on the ice. He was flying out there, just amazing.
@GioMariatex97 Chan-haters/haters in general ... Who cares .. they press the 'dislike' buttons all the time ... psychological profile of haters = likely to be abused by their parents/insecure/angry See. they are quite pathetic ... maybe we should feel sorry for them. Sorry, I side-tracked. :=))
go patrick.. let the haters write all they want.. you deserved all your scores.. good luck and may these haters start to pray for their skaters to surpass your 300 plus score.. lol
No,he doesn't. He deserves some of his score but not all of them.
He gets 9.88 IN score, which means judges say his interpretation is far superior to other single skaters like jeremy or daisuke, and equal to top icedancers!
I understand he gets 9.67 for his SS and 9.58 for his TR. It's OK.
@hujikokko well, its a national event, skaters usually get higher scores than at international events. Look at Plushenko's scores at Russia nationals...you will understand...haha
But I agree JP judges are much more consistant and professionaL in following ISU scoring guidelines. since this is at nationals, the score WILL NOT be a world record.

@hujikokko Chan-haters will never be happy whatsoever. Reason being they are like a bunch of partisan (written) hooligans, extremists and racists who will put anyone down who does not fit in their favourite books. Reason and bi-partisanship do not exist in their vocabularies. These people take pleasures in bad-mouthing others.
@spikydurian Some of haters gonna hate whatever, but not everyone.Existing of such kind of haters don't justify gaving him scores which he don't deserves. He is(I think) the best skater on technical aspect so far,but on artistic side,he is average(not poor).
I was never a huge fan...but wow...after this...I am pretty much entranced. I hope he keeps up his competitive spirit because he is on the track to become one of the best ever.
This guy has EVERYTHING. The jumps, the spins, the footwork, the edges, the flow, the speed, the ice coberage, the elegance, the grace, the musicality, the expression... Overall I believe he's the greatest ever, Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ This program keeps you so focused and so drawn in... he has that magic that keeps your eyes on him all the time Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ
That was AMAZING. Best I've ever seen him skate! The 3loop and 3lutz both came out of nowhere, and he had perfect technique on them. I loved how focused he looked, and how calm and in control he was throughout the program. He didn't even look tired at the end. He meticulously got the job done and thanked the crowd, and that was that! <3
Wow, truly wonderful! 2 perfect program's skated back to back. And I just found out he broke the 300 mark! He's almost becoming undefeatable now. Reminds me of Kim Yu-Na from 3 years back.
And I wasn´t a great fan of Patrick until last year... now I have to surrender... the guy is the best nowadays... if Plushenko decide to compete in worlds it will be a very interesting championship (I love Plushenko's skating, like a crazy fan, but I think sometimes he runs from some competitions afraid of losing, like I think he did in 2005 after falling on the SP).
@volvob10m Evgeni will not compete this year at Worlds, the knee is still bothering him and he´ll probably undergo some minor surgery. He can´t afford to damage his knees very much if he wants to compete at the Olympics. :( You can cheer for him at the Euros, if you want, the competition will be tough and the poor guy will need painkillers. :(((
Worlds will be great anyway, with Patrick, Dai, Javi Fernandez, Kozuka, etc.
@SimonaCB Oh what a disappointment! I am looking forward to the three skating greats -Plushenko, Dai and Patrick showdown at Worlds. Fernandez is a sweet .. hope he will do well at Worlds.
Absolutely AMAZING!!! With the skating level of these two programs (SP and FP) he would have won any past worls or olympics under the new judging system and would have been quite a competitor to Plushenko and Yagudin in Salt Lake 2002!!! So sad he didn´t have the quad in 2010!
@MultiCased You´re rigth... Evan won without a quad.... (but just because Plush's LP in 2010 had some shaky landings and poor choreography). What I mean is that Patrick's jumps look much more solid now and the quad in his case I think is a key jump once his 3 Axel is not his best jump (the reason why he tries only one in the LP)
he is amazing!

@volvob10m --- He didn't need one - he just just didn't do what he had planned well enough in any way! He could have won- no doubt abou tthat.
