Pacioretty could only have seen him coming from peripheral which doesnt count in those conditions. I saw the hit live, and I just saw it again now, and my opinion hasn't changed. Don is right, the league made the right call. We're not talking about the NFL here you can't punish the player because of the result of the hit. That's not how hockey works. The hit was clean, and it's sad that someone got hurt as a result but you can't suspend Chara because he hit someone (cleanly) extra hard.

I've been playing high level hockey my entire life too and I teach at a hockey camp. It showed in the last two Olympics and World Juniors that Canada is not nearly as dominant as they used to be. Crosby is not the only exception. Stamkos, Hall, Heatley (I can go on for a quite a while) are not physical players but they're all considered top CDN players (not yet for Hall).

Zdeno Chara did not mean to injury Max Pacioretty and has never in his entire career tried to injury someone. It's not like Matt Cooke knocking Marc Savard out and every other player he has hit because that is intentional. This happens in the league a lot like the montage has shown. I understand why the Canadiens are upset but it wasn't a head shot nor intentional. Also Air Canada wouldn't have had a problem if the tables were turned and hasn't had a problem before, those gutless worms.

I saw the hit live, and I just saw it again now, and my opinion hasn't changed. Don is right, the league made the right call. We're not talking about the NFL here you can't punish the player because of the result of the hit. That's not how hockey works. The hit was clean, and it's sad that someone got hurt as a result but you can't suspend Chara because he hit someone (cleanly) extra hard.

So what your saying is that a player like Sidney Crosby does not play Canadian because he does not hit and play nasty. So Ryan Kesler plays more Canadian than most of the guys on the National Team.... and I do know hockey actually bud, been playing high level hockey for 14 years. Cherry is a mouth, all he is, not even in the top 50 of best coaches all time.

@mhougestol Lolll, I just got back from a try out for the top Cegep team in Quebec. That was a funny comeback though. I've been playing high level hockey my entire life too and I teach at a hockey camp. It showed in the last two Olympics and World Juniors that Canada is not nearly as dominant as they used to be. Crosby is not the only exception. Stamkos, Hall, Heatley (I can go on for a quite a while) are not physical players but they're all considered top CDN players (not yet for Hall).

Zdeno Chara did not mean to injury Max Pacioretty and has never in his entire career tried to injury someone. It's not like Matt Cooke knocking Marc Savard out and every other player he has hit because that is intentional. This happens in the league a lot like the montage has shown. I understand why the Canadiens are upset but it wasn't a head shot nor intentional. Also Air Canada wouldn't have had a problem if the tables were turned and hasn't had a problem before, those gutless worms.
