Hmm, had I been the rebel fleet I'd have got out of there, then come back later with more mon cal cruisers than the Empire could handle. Yes I know you only get a single 'Home One' but you do get the winged version in bucketloads if you do it right.
In single player on normal I find that empire gameplay is much easyer.for example my ground force is usualt 10-20 stormtroopers10 hevy walkers and other sort of machinery. They will win any groundbattle(atleast on normal difficulty). If u captured a planet then I usualy leave 5 battleships.defending.rebels on normal always use about 5 planets to make ˇabout 200 space fighters and then they attack.with nice spacestation and 5 ships they are easy target.Always have fleetcommander they have nicebonus
"Sir the ships going down!" "Suuuuurreee it is get back to your post Private" "But sir shes been split in two!" "Tis only a scratch we'll buff it out later continue with the battle"
This is why the Empire will always win ship-to-ship combat on equal numbers. Their ships are setup to FIGHT. The "rebels" has never had a real battleship, which is why they suck so badly, they think "the force" will save them.
They need to build real warships with superior shielding, a lot of guns and a generator powerful enough to power the shields under even the worst of enemy fire.
@Dreez76 That's a bit debatable. The Mon Calamari cruisers are like battleships. When comparing Star Destoryers to Mon Calamari cruisers, you'll find that Star Destoryers are better armed, with all sorts of weaponry. Mon Cals however, have far better shielding, with multiple backups, along with backup command bridges. The Mon Cals are built to last heavy engagments, while SDs are expendable. They'll deal a heavy blow, before become crippled to damage themselves in prolonged combat.
@ltflak amen, also if you look at the V design of a Star Destroyer you'll see that its so that more weapons can be fired in a straight direction so they are made for full frontal assaults whereas a Mon Calamari cruiser's weapons are stationed in bulges all across the ship which allows for more versatility but not concentrated power
The name Rebels should give you a clue. The Rebels in Star Wars do not build ships as much as they are retrofitting them for use against an actual military. What they have either are old ships from system defense fleets or retrofitted ships like the Mon Cal cruisers which originally were a kind of passenger liner ship for the Mon Calamari. The only things they actually produce are their starfighters, which in the case of the X-Wing was an Imperial design originally that they stole.
@Dreez76 the Empire rely on the force as well, the Emperor's Battle Meditation is what kept them as such a powerful fighting force, notice after the Emperor dies in the 6th film that the Imperial fleet is routed by a much smaller Rebel force because they suddenly lose the will to fight
@Dreez76 The Rebels don't really own any military shipyards until after they actually win remember so they are unable to build true warships, everything they have is either converted from civilian ships like the Mon Calamari ships or captured from the Empire in the first place.
@50Stone Nothing major, anyway. Not on the scale of Fondor or Kuat Drive Yards. I daresay small shipping companies etc made them the odd Corellian Corvette here and there. And lets not forget the warships used by the Confederacy. One of the Trade Federation's cruisers, carrying over 500 X-wings, was targeted by none other than the Death Star. God I need to get a life...
I really like this video! I feel that it really captures the battle. And the constant moving makes me feel as if I'm actually seeing the battle from up close :D And, I also think that the music went very well with this. Good job!
Excellent video. You put a lot of heart into an otherwise standard Imperial victory-through-overwhelming-force (a lot of my early battles with the Imps tend to end like that).
Whats funny in the movies, is if you watch episode VI, they arrive at Endor with like 1 Mon and Home One, yet the death star claims like 3 of them. And also, if you pause and ease through it slowly, The death star kills Home One, but that ugly fish never buys it, he is still alive in the next scene. So is that bad editing, or is the death star losing its touch! LOL!
Actually, that wasn't Home One, it was some 3rd type ship with no bridge like structures. It was much "fatter" then Home One. Supposedly, there were 12 mon cals. @ltflak You know another flaw that was in episode 6, maybe i missed something, but my family and friends all agree the Executor went down too easy, (so the bridge got wiped out, there should be backup control systems)
@Darrosified not enough fast.did you heard that?at the last moment before a fighter crash into the bridge, the commander actually told the crew to change to the backup one,but it was, like the another one said,"Too Late!"just a second before he dies
@tooichan No, Piett said "Intesify the forward batteries, I don't want anything to get through!... Intesify forward firepower!" His First Officer said "Too late!"
He wasnt talking about switching to Auxilliary systems or another bridge on the ship, he was talking about increasing the firepower. Even with what happened, there are second and third command crews, they should have taken over on an auxilliary bridge, after the main one blew up!
@Darrosified Piett never had time to transfer command. In the time it took for the auxiliary bridge to figure out what happened and then assume command with the command crew's authorization, the Executor was pulled in by the the Death Star's gravity. Similar to what happened to the Knight Hammer, though that ship lost the engines themselves, not just the ability to control them. IMO, the destruction of the Knight Hammer was one of the worst "jump the shark" moments i've ever read or seen.
They should of seen this coming. I would of evacuated the personel and would of ram one ship while shooting at another. and maybe with luck tkae the 3rd down with the soon to explode ship. lol thats me. idk about you guys.
well I would call in asistance and set the core to overload then when the ship explodes near 2 star destroyers one destroyed one heavy damage, when the reinforcements come they can destroy the last
@calgarymikey27 the whole point of a bridge is to have a good commanding view so you can have better battlefield awareness and give more effective orders because you know whats going on and you're not stuck in the middle of the ship not knowing a damn thing about whats going on outside. same goes with star wars.
although a better question would be to ask, why did they put their shield generators on the top of the ship rather than inside it where the armor can protect it?
@animeizawesome321 Yeah I agree with the shield generators should be inside. But in terms of the bridge, in these movies/shows the bridge is usually sticking out with no reinforced armour or shielding. A good example of how a bridge should be (dare I bring this into star wars!) is the battle bridge of the enterprise or the jem'h'dar ships where the bridge is in the deep armour of their ships and they use those optical displays..?...
@calgarymikey27 Not on Battle Stars. They are placed in the heart of the ship, one of the few ship designs of any type to be placed in a area of protection.
@steward45il Are you sure about that? I recall in episode where a Cylon raider tried to suicide run on a Battle Star bridge, and you see a shot of the bridge though a front window.
@ltflak The bridge was "located deep in the alligator head of the battlestar". no windows or cameras outside. I dont remember that episode, but then I didnt see season 3 because sci fi was dropped in my area during the time.
That's exactly right. When they made the reimagined series of Battlestar Galactica, they thought of that and put the bridge in the center of the ship.

Secondary Command Centers
kakalunga 2 years ago
the small things sticking out of the Cruiser are all secondary command centers, it's really impossible to disable the command stucture of a Mon Calamri Cruiser

Empire at War would be the best game ever made, if not for the horrible ground battles. those sucked ass, i only use space.
GhostRider0071701 2 years ago 17
they should have made more work on those graphics don't you think?
jaspertheking4life 2 years ago
ehhh, not really. i think it's fine how it is. of course, that's me talking. i don't care about graphics, something i hate this generation for. nobody will watch or play anything if it doesn't look cool. what's wrong with clay stop-motion dinosaurs!?!?!
GhostRider0071701 2 years ago

This battle reminds me of the KOTOR battle over Taris, when the sith where attacking the Endar Spire.

I think we're all aware of the battle :P

Bwahahahaa! Always great to see rebel scum pound to smithereens! A pity so many escaped, though...
Nice video. What's the song on background? It suited that bit perfectly.
