hmmm banjo music and the smell of mildew in the back seat. wish i was goin to one of those big wanker hoe downs. you know, where everyone drinks moonshine and plays spin the cousin.
@schrankm Steel rusts too. You don't see too many old cars in snow states. If you get rust on a car here in California, they don't stand a chance in the snow and the salt.
@mocaorca i own a 1949 willys overland pickup, unrestored and untouched as far as the body. it hasn't got a rust hole on it. i lived in the 'snow state' of SD where it still sits. my brother has a 2010 dodge ram that was bought brand new. within 6 months there was rust on the rear bumper. the only point i was trying to make is considering age, this car must have seen more than 49,000 miles. also, as most of us know, the odometer probably only reads 5 digits. could be 149,000, 249,000. who knows.
@RandallFlaggNY lol no state has any humidity when it's below zero. if you mean in the summer then you are mistaken. the percentage of humidity in south dakota on a normal summer day is near 100. so, if maine's humidity is so much greater, then it must rain every day.
@shartne It's not just on the roads, it's in the air. I rarely drive my pickup on the road in the winter, but I notice the fenders rusting just from the salt in the air. We're very close to the ocean here..

true but that's not a 1962 either. they made cars of steel back then, not tin. i've seen 2010 dodge trucks with bumpers rusting.

@schrankm Yea, they don't make 'em like they used to...

49,000 ? i don't believe it. 249,000 maybe. that's alot of rust for under 50,000

@schrankm Not if you live in Maine it's not. My neighbor's rear bumper rusted right off his Dodge truck, and it's got 60k..

@rpeek they must really put a lot of salt on the roads there that will rust metal fast.
