You can do the same with the wooden cheese boxes on Kargo-Necris;)
They do have sense there, though, as it's possible to stick the box near the snipe-rifle into the small tunnel leading to the scorps' road and block it, or to put it as a ladder-like object instead of the hover-jump near the emp.
