  • I miss this so much. Class of 2010 ill remember you always and The G!

  • I was the drum captain in this show, and the music the drumline played wasn't everything that the show came with. There were some things that we added, and I guess overall for the purpose of effect and musicality it worked. It's definitely a fun show to play. Just really listen across the board and you guys should do fine.

  • Wow they sounds really good, and amazing(:

  • WOW i really enjoyed this show!! im the center snare at dulles and we're marching this show this year.

  • I was in the colorguard for this show and I saw that Dulles did this show when I went to a competition. It was very deja vu to hear the music again.

  • yeah yall were really good

  • mm. i love how all of yall are saying that falls didnt deserve their spot for state, yet at the actual state contest, they ranked above clements by 5 bands.

cut the crap out. its already happened. do we believe that ld bell should have won instead of marcus? idk, but its happened. arguing the point doesn't make woods any better or worse than falls.

im from cyridge, and saying one show is "better" than another is rigged. happens to us, but we deal. im no fan of falls, but they deserved it.

  • i know nothing about diagram marching but i enjoyed this. Well done!

  • c'mon Dulles wasnt that bad!!

we're doing this show next marching season

  • okay, think tha band did great.

but, tha colorguard neeed alott more practice!

    GO CY-FAIR!

  • Hey Cy-Woods, A Clements High School kid here, nice show guys, not bad. It sucks y'all didn't make it to state, only 1/2 a point! Wow! Best of luck next year and the year after [I will be graduating this year, so best of luck]

  • this show generated more excitement than ours, i really liked the trumpet solo/soli.

  • only second in the state

  • all they need is better music and a bigger more unique color guard

  • Dulles did great and i thought tthey deserved their spot. they werent flashy like Clements and stuff but they still made considering that their band was probally the smallest there. They sounded great and i have to hand it to there drumline, their drumline did amazing.

  • seconded. their drumline is awesommme.

  • this is awesome...

  • and yes, langham creek and clements were obviously the best. it's not hard to pick out the top ones. i think both deserved their rankings. but as far as the rest of the bands goes, something seems off. for one, dulles ended up ahead of Taylor in finals?!? ARE YOU SHITTING ME? that was a mistake. and how could cy-fair (who didn't even get straight 1's at UIL) make it to finals over a school like Cinco Ranch??? Cinco's show was superb. not saying that Cy-Fair didn't have a cool show, cuz they did.

  • falls marches better than anyone, in my opinion. but their music was sloppy, and the quality of the sound not up to par with the rest of the bands in finals. in prelims, the judges knew that, giving them high marching scores, but counterbalancing that with average music ones.

i was sitting with other band directors at Area, and after Falls's performance, we agreed that it wasn't good enough to make it to state (over woods).

  • this show was leagues above Falls. when i heard the announcer call falls and not woods, my mouth dropped. the judging in this area always seems to be so screwed up!

I also thought Cy-Creek had a great show, and deserved a higher spot. the same goes for Cinco Ranch too! How Cinco did not make finals amazes me!

  • finals judges put woods 4-5-5-4-4 and falls got 3-4-4-2-2 (first 3 music, last 2 marching). Those scores are pretty consistent if you ask me, so i dont see how you can possibly claim judging was screwed up. Area E probably has the most consistent judging in Texas. Go look at finals scores for the other texas areas, theyre EVERYWHERE. Its fine you think certin bands should have placed better, but dont blame it on judging.

  • those are consistent scores, i agree. but i'm not talking about consistency one bit. i'm talking about overall accuracy of choosing the best possible bands!

in prelims, falls was 6th. then, when it really counts, they magically move up 3 places. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm i was at the contest the whole day. if anything, their show sounded worse in finals than prelims. (i'm not here to bash falls either. i love their band. but this year, their show disappointed me)

  • I know falls actually went back to their school after prelims and changed the ending of their show because the judges had complaints about it. They played a different ending for finals, which obviously made all the difference for them. But still UIL, like every system, is flawed, and sometimes bands get royally screwed over. I agree with the cinco ranch thing, but i still think falls and woods were placed right. I mean, not a single judge had woods top 3. All five judges cant be that out touch.

  • u know ur dissing our band on OUR vid right?not cool

  • Im not "dissing" your band! I was just pointing out the facts, that the judging was freakishly consistent, which it was. Plently of people hate on my school for basically being hard working and successful, so i would be the last person to ever do that to another school.

  • aww come on our school worked its ass off this year and our work ethic is intense! everybody know wat is asked for and goes and does more than wat is aked for...so lets just agree to disagree

  • uhh i never said yall didnt. ALOT of schools work their ass off, and have insane work ethic, cywoods is definatly not alone in that. And i think its fair to say EVERY school that was in finals has kids that go above and beyond what is asked. Im not disagreeing, Cy Woods is hardworking and put out a quality show. It sucks you couldnt go to state, but dont hate on the bands that did, they worked hard too. Blame it on Westside hs for not doing their paper work.

  • couldnt agree more and i was shocked to hear we didnt make it(i did this show) and to hear that schools like taylor, creek,or ranch got beat i thought they were amazing shows

but i was happy we gave it our all and went down with a fight

  • Good Job.

MCHS did'nt make it to finals, but we performed a great show.

    :]

  • As long as you know you did the best you could then theres nothing to be sad about. Sure you where beat by someone who shouldnt have beat you even if it was 1/2 a point the point is yall did what good marching bands are suppose to do. March and Play. Nothing else.

I'm the Drum Major at Cy-Creek and even though I'm sad we didn't make finals I know couldn't have done any better. I will never have the chance to go to state again. But next Area I hope Cy-Woods and Creek go to state together.

  • yay tim. haha

  • see you guys shouldve gone on to state. not falls. their show never went outside of the 30. I also think Cy-creek should have at least gone on to finals. Falls was not very good!

  • thank you :-)

  • yalls trumpets arent very good...

  • wow!wat skool u go to?

  • minor slips here n there but overall our best show

  • hey im @ the back 40 side 1!:]]]]

we did an amazing job and nothin will ever change how great of a performance we gave!and the crowd standing up(even other bands) still gives me chills -Ernesto(aka Sandcheese)

  • whoops i mean back 35 side 1 :P

  • definitely should have made it to area!

i was there, and was so surprised when i heard cy-falls and not y'all

cy-falls may have had a cool show, but they just didn't play their music as well as y'all

besides some tiny phasing issues, that was unbelievably good! it would have been awesome to hear y'all at the alamodome, when the sound just rings in the air lol

  • C-DUB!!!!

  • you know what I just realized? Woods was the only school in the top 5 to use all traditional marching band style. Langham had those wheely cart things and streamers and masks, clements had some purple flag things, falls had all the columns and boxes, and cy-fair had that huge eye mat thing in the middle. Heck yes!

  • you're crazy if you think UIL judges don't take props into consideration. Like yeah, it may not be in the rules or rubric, but its part of the show and they do factor it in, whether it be consciously or subconsciously. That's what I love about our band, we don't need the props to be successful! Plus without all the extra equipment (props, electrical amps, etc.) there's way less room for error or malfunction which can easily work against a band. I'm still proud of 4th place tho!!

  • 6:49-6:51 the viper by the cymbals sweeeet stufff

  • It's all just a matter of preference. I happen to prefer the style of bands like Woods and Taylor (another band that was outstanding). The other bands like Langham and Falls, they seem to rely a lot on props, just not my personal preference. That's all...

  • Those school in now way "rely" on props. UIL contest is clear cut, whoever sounds and marches best wins, no matter how many props you do or do not use. The placings would have been the same if you took away langham and fall's props.

  • All the Area bands were really good. I noticed that about 1/2, if not more, of the bands do seem to use some form of electronic amplification. What part does that have on who sounds best?

  • It doesnt, lol. Amps just make certin things like solos (which would otherwise never be heard) louder, not better. And yeah. judging can be subjective, but there are still 3 music judges and 2 marching judges. Props dont fall into either category and dont effect who places where. I mean, props dont make a band play better, and they certinaly dont make bands march better.

  • No, judging is far more subjective than wanted, or needed.

  • I don't mean "rely" as in they would be lost with out them, i mean with out those props you've got a bunch of people standing there playing.I figured marching band required you to actually march. With woods their are no distracting props and it's all motion and good sound.

  • Um, last time i checked, having props in your show doesnt mean you dont march and play. It is true that alot of school use props to distract from poor marching, but to make generalizations about all band that use props is just wrong. The point im trying to make is if cywoods HAD used props, they would have placed the same way. And as far as "moving around" is concerned, there are bands from area that used props and moved/played more than cywoods as well.

  • And in an activity as visual as marching band you honestly don't think props in one way or another factor into the final score?

  • i loved the show!

I'm in the colorguard for Clements high school.

I enjoyed the rifle and flag work : )

    check out our show

  • My cousin goes to clements too! Her name's Maggie. do you know her?

  • yesss. I know her : )

    ahh I lovee maggie

  • And what was Dulles doing in the Finals?

  • Taylor should have gone to State. GO TAYLOR! SLHS HAS GOT YOUR BACK!

  • That was the most amazing show at the competition. Cy Woods was robbed, completely!

  • while i completley agree that this show is amazing (especially considering how young this program is), your crazy if you think it was the most amazing one at the contest. Langham and Clements clearly dominated this area, though i feel CyWoods did deserve to go to state (and WOULD have, if Westside HS hadnt dropped out of area). Great show!

  • I agree. Very unfortunate event that one school dropped out preventing a 4th band from this area going to state, in this case even more unfortunate with Woods only 1/2 point behind 3rd place. Regardless, the band should be very proud of their accomplishments over the last two years.

  • that is i believe the best we have done it and i can honestly say that i have no regrets and am happy to have been in this show.

  • Great job... Our band did New World Symphony in 2006, this was the first time our band had ever went to state. Now we are going again this year...

    Again great job.

  • Good job Cy Woods!
