If this happened, I'll be willing to bet that jr will be doing better in racing. However, he will never be like his dad was. thank you for posting and sharing video.that race was on my 29th birthday. i just recently signed up, and disturbing to see people already using my name and numbers as their username. i use jason333 on infieldparking, being a sr. fan. i was born april 2,1971.found a video on here , tribute to sr. and jr. using the song " on my own" from the soundtrack "bloodsport". it was touching, especially after watching the nascar hall of fame inductees in shrined.
I think it's safe to say that Jr's not as good as his dad is.
I say that because Sr. had to work hard to race for whatever rides he could get. Almost every ride Jr. had before Hendrick was almost given to him on a silver platter by his dad.
I'm a huge Kyle Busch fan but i'm also a huge Dale Jr fan, i would love to see Jr get back to winning again. Kyle didn't live up to his potential at hendrick either, some drivers just are not the right type for hendrick and need to be racing against them and not with them. he has proven that he is a great driver and i agree that nothing was handed to him, Dale Sr made sure of that. Hendrick has always had one car that wasn't as good, since Mark arrived that car has been the 88.

@mercury82 junior wasn't handed anything. as hard working as dale sr was, there was no way he handed anything to any of his children. if you wanted something, you had to earn it. dale sr worked for everything he ever had, and it was the same for his kids no matter how much $ he made. sr was down to earth, his fans respected him, and a lot of sr fans routed for jr because he was sr's legacy after his death.

It was weird how it happened, Harvick was going to come to RCR in 02' in Mike Skinners place, and Dale had already made his choice that when he retired that he wanted Jeff Burton to take over his car. Maybe that is why Richard jumped on the oppurtunity to have Jeff on the team?

Harvick was signed to drive the #30, which was a new team beginning in 2002, and the seat went to Jeff Green.
IIRC, the 30 team was announced the day before the 2001 Daytona 500.
