A nice band. Sort of reminds me of The Move. Of course, Jeff was in both bands at one time or another. He joined The Move during their latter days, if memory serves.

It took his moving on to The Move to connect with future ELO drummer Bev Bevan, that and working with many other big names like George Harrison, the all around influences are now History!
These songs that you've kindly posted up of Idle Race are really nice thank you, as this is the first time I've ever heard of them and their music awesome cheers!!! 5*****
Its great to see someone so young listening to old music, idle race featured a young jeff lynne who went on to the move and then to form the Electric Light Orchestra(elo)with roy wood, check out some of their music theres loads of it on you here.
Curiously, Rick Price after he left The Move - Electric Light Orchestra* recorded this with someone only ID'ed as Sheridan
* When Rick left Wood & Lynne were recording the last Move album and first ELO at the same sessions, ergo almost any track had an equal chance of being released as The Move or ELO.
I.e. The 10538 Overture was intended as a Move track but finished with further string overdubs and released as the first ELO single.
I'm convinced that the chorus of this tune must have been inspired by Elvis Presley's version of "That's When Your Heartaches Begin" (also on YouTube).

it isn't hard to see why Jeff went on to have such stunning success with ELO and as a producer. Sublime..what else can you say?
