@shootrbshot Sadly there is no textbook for knocking down a silo. The main reason I posted the video was that it could be a tutorial for others thinking about doing this. I did learn that I took off too many rings from the bottom which allowed it to explode rather than fall. I was very lucky that it went where I wanted. I had a man in the tractor to "persuade" but i'm not sure it would have made a difference if it went wrong.
@mightythor156 It took about a month working with the excavating company. I had it all hauled away to a farm nearby to be used as driveway base. Then he hauled in topsoil later to finish the job.
it is amazing how this style of silo always does the shuffle dance to land the roof in one piece.

They got lucky when the bottom jumped out, part of it could have landed the other way on top of them.
