I have been hunting, hiking, boarding that area my whole life and love it. I think that a limited development could actually benefit the area without ruining it. Truckee and Tahoe have some of the worlds most talented Architects who are masters of working around the trees and boulders. With good practices, the impact on the environment/wildlife habitat would be temporary, and when you realize the vastness of the royal gorge/TNF, a couple hundred homes are a mere surface scratch.
This is a nice video. says what needs to be said. When I arrived at Sierra Lakes in 1959 with family, there were three or four cabins in the entire valley. Ours, Larsen cabin (the yellow one) , and the Treons, and that was about it. From my perspective, and the changes I see with "wall to wall cabins there now" , I think you guys are the "development" that you're screaming about. Interesting difference of opinions, isnt it? Let Serene always remain so. Thank you.
Please watch this youtube video, this is where my cabin is and i LOVE it there, and a development called Foster/Syme has a big chance of ruining it!!!! It is my 2nd home and i cant have something this terrible happen to FAVORITE place ever!!!! Please watch all the videos of Serene Lake and Donnor Summit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is not a case of NIMBY. It is environmental destruction/devaluation.
They are going to advance into the North Fork American River Basin, build dams, artificial holding tanks, and log ancient forests. This sacred, untouched area of nature needs to stay pristine.
If they go forth with this, it will be disgusting.
I would be heart broken if this beautiful area was destroyed by too much development... Foster/Syme GO AWAY!!!!!!!...this is coming from a member of private lake (which is to close to Royal George), a nature lover who loves to fish & hunt and a person who loves to get away from it all with her family...to get away where there is NOT urban crawl!!!
My name is Matt Henderson, and I grew up in Serene Lakes during the 60's as a young boy. There were less than 30 cabins in Serene Lakes when my family moved up there in 1965.
Dirt roads around the back of the lakes from the lodge to the water treatment building.
This video production is excellent. Enough time spent showing what could happen to Serene Lakes, and a delightful, pleasing tour through the beauty of Serene Lakes in all her various seasons,f rom all sorts of beautiful spots up on the hills. Just incredible.
Thanks for making this, and for making the proposed expansion plans of RG more real to all of us.
