Howto Root Motorola Droid X and 2 running 2.2 Froyo Win7/Mac/Linux

how do i know this actually worked? it says it was rooted, however i see no difference in my phone?

no this is pretty weard. i put my device in "PC Mode" and it didn't work. I put my device in "USB Mode" and it worked.

alright, i've ran through everything, followed all instructions completely, I've checked other forums, but I am lost. After I run through everything it will say "root successful" but It doesn't seem to be rooted. I'm so damn confused... I have a Droid X running 2.2

whats the mechanism for unrooting ... if one had too ... btw in linux this worked flawlessly and quickly ... droid x OTA 2.2 rooted in 2 minutes

This sucks. I have tried under both mac and windows and cant get mine to find the device. The one time I did on mac it failed to root.

I agree with a no adb one because Ive spent an hour repeating the commands and resetting the phone and changing the mode. Doing it on the phone itself was way better

mine gets stuck in adb connection will be reset. restart adb....

I would like to request a video for a tutorial. A tutorial for a non adb root for the DX running android 2.2, like you did for the android 2.1 os... I would greatly appreciate it if you would, THANKS
