Barbara was trying to make the evening easier, but I guess when you look at it more and more it makes sense. Barbara wasn't very nice to her roommates, and Dorothy didn't want to believe it until Barbara admitted she didn't like them. She never had to LIKE them, but she didn't have to be mean, either. (And tolerating a discriminating club wasn't exactly worldly, either.)
this is my most favouruite moments on this episode! i too would tell barbara thorndyke to go to hell too! and take her snotty attitude with her! you go dororthy!
Does anybody know?? Earlier in this episode - Dorothy and Barbara are having lunch and Dorothy's last line is in reference to one of the food order's and she responds "A little of that goes a long way" which gets a big laugh from the audience. I didn't get the joke. Can anyone help me out with an explanation? Thanks!
@DC205504 when Barbara said "I didn't order the french fries", and the waiter said something like "Alright, you get the ....something... potatoes" (he had a British accent) I can't understand that joke either. If anyone replies to you let me know.
@cutiekiska He said, "You get the Edgar Allan 'Poe-tatoes' and the 'Ice Water Cometh.'" Edgar Allan Poe was a famous writer and poet and "The Iceman Cometh" was a Eugene O'Neill play from the 1930s. The restaurant they were at had a theme of literary puns. Hope that clears it up.
@Topher1286 yeah I got that part when Barbara said "yeah, this is theeeeeeee hangout for Miami's literary intelligentsia" and when Dorothy said "the Old man and the sea food salad" lol
@DC205504 The waiter kept making literary puns (Edger Allan "Poe-tatoes," etc.) and it was getting on Dorothy's nerves, so she said "A little of that (the puns) goes a very long way." In other words, she was telling him to knock it off. ;)
that 1 dislike was Barbara Throndyke

There's a reason the writers gave her the last name "thorndyke'.
