I cannot find any of the folders in my environment variables. There were only 2 things and those were TEMP and TMP. I tried creating the folders, but it didn't work.
your video took forever and showed stuff i already tried.next time just type out the whole thing in one shot because we are all old enough to read more than one line at a time if we are trying to use the cmd prompt.
1) go to your directory where Java jdk is installed (1.6.0). Note: This is not jre, it's jdk.
2) In windows xp, go to system / advanced tab / environment variables: and you'll see a list.
3) click on class path. Choose edit. Notice all entries are separated by " ; " (semi-colon). Simply paste the path of the jdk folder at the end of this list, preceded by a semi-colon.
4) Add it to "include" and "lib" and "path" in the same manner.
@ladycacanoob 2 words. First word: Get. Second word: jdk. See, Jre and Jdk are two completely different things, so JDK will not do anything to JRE. Plus, you need JDK to do a number of things, such as run a Minecraft Server (this also applies to CraftBukkit), etc.
i went to the java/bin folder i saw java.exe javaw.exe and other files but no javac i even searched my entire computer NO JAVAC i deleted and reinstalled java NO JAVAC STILL help?!??!?!?!???! pPLEASEEE
@Theethruth make sure you download the jdk, java development kit. you might only have jre on your computer, which is only the java runtime environment. javac, the java compiler is part of the jdk
You takes years to write, i think you slowed the video 3x.
Also, AFTER ALL THIS WORK I NOTICED DINT WORKED.... i was like "IMA BLOW EVERYTHING UP1!!", then i ran javac.exe, and now im happy ;] javaprogrammin! xD
@Xx11256xX Try find javac.exe in C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_12\bin\javac.exe or in java folder(locate in jdkVERSION\bin\javac.exe) depends on where you installed jdk...if you don't install jdk...you can't found javac.exe..i hope it will help
Nice work! This worked for me. I didn't have classpath, include etc but added them as new, making sure I copied the name correctly and ta da javac is now working.
it wasnt a success for me .. i knew everything up till like 5mins or something when u went into eviroment variables then when u copied and pasted that bar thing in every one of the things then i did the command prompt thing and i typed in javac but it still said the same thing..btw i have vista..any more adivce? nice vid
ok, i use vista, so i had a tad of trouble. i set all my paths and the javac command still wouldnt work. but i solved it by simply typing in javac.exe. simple. afterwards, it recognized the javac command. i did this cuz i was also having trouble with my vim, so i did the same thing for that and it works now! :D
Dude u rock.....it might have been different for me cause im on vista and some other diferent things but i followed the general steps and now my batch files are working perfectly....I grade ur video F for FANTASTIC!
@who885 I will try to help you. Try find javac.exe in C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_12\bin . What i mean is try find javac.exe in bin folder which locate in your jdk folder. The jdk folder locate in Java folder. The jdk folder name depend on your jdk version. My jdk version is 1.6. Thats why my jdk folder name is jdk1.6.0_12. I hope this will help.
Did you mean...we can't restore it to the previous like initial???It seem it still remember, even we throw value that we don't want after we use it, away...right??If you mean it, how bout,if delete value or environment variable that you don't want...after that...restart computer....

Never found "lib" or w.e. in my enviormental tabs. Besides that i got everything else. How do i get "lib" or find it.

So to make a long story short...
1) go to your directory where Java jdk is installed (1.6.0). Note: This is not jre, it's jdk.
2) In windows xp, go to system / advanced tab / environment variables: and you'll see a list.

4) Add it to "include" and "lib" and "path" in the same manner.
5) push ok, exit and try it

@bananastreet123 Jre is an impemenatation of jdk. jdk is a compiler which converts the text file into bytecodes whish is a machine independent code.
