    FUJIFILM X100

  • @TheTeletran1 omg really?

  • nice review

  • I found the varying background sound very distracting. The background sound level is shooting up and down, depending on whether the presenter is speaking, or not. A video camera with manual sound level is needed.

  • Just buy the Sony NEX-7 for that price

  • @DANBMX0071 omg really?

  • Speaking too fast..Why have to speak with a rocket speed? It made the review so hard to listen and attain all the information, especially when there is a technical word of the camera's functions come up. Frequently, I couldn't catch what the reviewer is saying at all...

  • If you are thinking about buying this camera, do not buy it. There is a common 'sticky blades' problem that many x100 will eventually get due to the design of the lens in the x100. So far to date, Fujifilm has not even publicly acknowledged this problem. Shocking for a $1000+ premium camera. You can read about all the x100 owners complaining about it on the Fujifilm Talk forum on DPreview. Until Fujifilm acknowledges this issue, stay away from the x100!!

  • it reminds me of a retro cameras of the 70s and 80s it be nice to see more like that very nice camera

  • Shit, idk if I should get this or not, it has a few flaws and I wouldn't be suprised if fujifilm released a new version right after I get this one!

  • Which would be better? this or the Leica X1?

  • i really like the retro shape of this camera. been watching and reading reviews of this one. but i wonder how would u find the right focusing when it is manually controlled? considering that the viewfinder stays in the optical mode.

  • is this really worth 1,000 dollars??

  • Beautiful retro design!

  • Leica M9 is almost 5 five times more expensive then x100, Leica have in their offer different cameras (i think "x" series?)that cost around 1500 euro/usd, but anyway is impressive for fuji x100 that people comparing it to more expensive cameras:)

  • Sweet.. I am planning to buy one in a couple of months. Until then I can watch this video again and again. Keep the good work up guys as the videos you produce are great.

  • Yeah sure! 1000 pounds, keep dreaming

  • this is the best youtube review on x100

  • ok i better watch the rest of this video before i ask questions LOL

  • whats the mm for that lens?

  • Why do I hear siren?

  • It's the bridge that fell in HP 6!

  • i don't think i'd want it to have interchangeable lenses - the lens is optimised for the sensor and you just let your feet do the zooming...simples

  • got mine today.so used to larger bulkier nikons and mamiyas etc that i got freaked out at the size of this thing.couple of hours later....love it.sharp as a pin, tactile movements (aperture shutter etc) good solid weight for its size. if you want a quality camera for discreet shooting and you like to travel and you aint got €€€€€€€€€€ for an m9, this is for you.btw lots of bitching about is it isn't it a range finder.no its not but its damn close.buy or get over it.

  • if fuji would make an interchangable lensmount for this camera, and some leica-voightlander-schneider-kreuznach-or zeiss adapters, this would be a true leica-killer!

  • @sjinouck lenses are the major source of profit in camera business, hence it is unwise for Fuji to come out with a body that adapts lenses from other company. x100 is not marketed as leica killer, it is special in its own category. I really amused by people demanding an x100 with interchangeable lens, the image quality and size of the camera would be greatly compromised by this feature. It would be a totally different camera

  • This is not a true Rangefinder and it is way too expensive. I will NOT be getting this camera

    .

  • @yeseverymomentcounts you will eat your words, my man!

  • @BigRooster747 this IS a real rangefinder? Where's the parallax focusing?

  • @yeseverymomentcounts And not a single fuck was given that day.

  • i think this is an amazing camera. thank god it didnt go interchangable lens. otherwise it would look like a leicha m, and cost like one...

  • This is a great camera and produce sfantastic finished results from raw files, it has some really anoying menu set up quirky things , if youdont want to read the FM dont use it , but once you know what it can and cant do with it , you will know what a gem the x100 is, really not for video and best not to bother, its a retro look digital camera with old school looks and shooting style. if if you cant shoot it makes a great fashion statement around your neck . work it work it looking good.

  • The 2 dislikes must be Nikon and Canon.

  • What a beautiful camera!

  • Only 720p @ 25fps? What a joke. Sony's Nex-3/5 and Panasonic GF2 can record 1080i @ 60fps. Pay more for less features? Fujifail.

  • @BoxxyFan You're an idiot, if only you know how to use cameras instead of comparing stats, but judging by your name, get the fuck back to /b/ you flaming teen.

  • @GGrev U mad u paid your years earnings for an overpriced piece of shit?

  • The X100 is a frustrating camera because it costs 2 times its nearest competitor the Sigma DP2S, but mainly offers only a larger ISO range & better low light performance. These are useful but not worth the huge extra expense. Also it has a movie mode, but given that the sensor is not a CCD it's mostly useless because you can't pan without getting terrible rolling shutter distortion.

  • @zck7 @zck7 are you kidding? fuji x100 is unique because of its hybrid OVF/EVF, sigma DP2 have no viewfinder!!! you cant compere those cameras without sounding like a troll.

  • @valdimer21 The DP series cameras accept an optical viewfinder, which I believe is $170 or less on Ebay. If you take the highest-end DP, which is the DP2x at $700 at B&H, add the viewfinder, it's $870 which is still substantially cheaper than the X100. However the truth is that a viewfinder is usually unnecessary. Unless Fuji lowers the price then the extra "nice to haves" will not be enough to compel me to get the X100.

  • If this camera had three lenses (a 24, a 35, and a 50 equiv) it would be perfect.

  • at 3:22 the moving aperture makes it look like the camera is breathing..............such a pretty camera............

  • Hi. Does this camera have full manual controls in the video mode? This is really CRITICAL if you're serious about video.

If not, do you think Fuji will release a firmware update to allow such a feature?

  • the aperture ring is backwards, but... aperture ring? this thing is awesome!

  • look at 4:51sec. It seems that you should go through MENUS to change ISO parameters instead to change them with ISO dial directly?

  • now i REALLY want this camera.

  • To echo the sentiments of the other comments, this camera is indeed very expensive; and it's got a fixed lens. For that asking price, and if they were serious about breaking into the M4/3 or rangefinder market, you would have expected an interchangeable lens.

  • Excellent review. Can't wait to yest one myself.

  • I don't really see why this camera is so hyped up, all it really is is an EVIL camera with a spiffy optical viewfinder, and less lens options.

This camera only really makes sense if it is cheaper than an EVIL cameras but it's not, it is 3 times as expensive as my NEX 3 was and because my NEX can change lenses it is a million times better

I would care about this camera if it was closer to 500 or 600 dollars rather than 1200. If you need to spend that much get a Leica X1.

  • @rubbara If we follow your logic, then y should we get a Leica X1 which is 800 bucks more?

  • DigitalRev does it best

  • @Shmenman lol its nice to see both takes on it tho

  • Poisonous!! Dammit!! I'm gonna get one!! haha!!

  • Great review and loved the Marmite analogy (The rest of the world scratches its head in confusion). lol

  • As soon as I set eyes one one in an advert in lastweeks amatuerphotographer I fell in love. This video has just confirmed my lust for this camera, if it performs as good as it looks they are onto a winner. I need to start saving now cos at a grand it is way above my capabilities

  • Lovely little camera but far too expensive at a grand . Im going to wait for the hs20 exr to become widely avialable in the uk .

  • A work of art. Indeed, Nikon should be taking note, this is an amazing camera!

  • This camera has some really neat features which I think Canikon will borrow soon.

  • I wish this had interchangeable lenses! That would be sick.

  • @jjjjjokerface Because of the size of the sensor any telephoto lens would have to be pretty big.

  • @WhatDigitalCamera It would be nice to have Leica style primes on this camera. I guess they could be made quite small. That would make it even more popular. Imagine something like the new Olympus m43 prime lenses on this this camera. Now that would be really sick....

  • @WhatDigitalCamera Not any bigger than any other EVIL tele.

  • @WhatDigitalCamera I don't care about tele lens, i want a 50mm & 80mm prime. I also want something in the f1.2 also. i wish fuji can do this next, a poor man's lecia is what I want. i don't think people buying this is looking to put a tele lens on it.

  • @jjjjjokerface hmmz make the viewfinder hard its already sick, ill buy 3 of them with diff focal lengths :P

  • @jjjjjokerface It woud be nice to have interchangable lense, but it would defeat the purpose of this camera.

  • @road5ter86 True, but I would still love to be able to buy a DSLR that looked like an older camera. I love the look of vintage cams but I can't afford to pay for film.

  • I can't wait for this to be released although I can't afford one. It would be a dream to own as I've been waiting for an affordable Leica style camera for years.

I think Fuji have tapped into a huge oil well with this camera. It will be an instant classic.

I just hope when I win the lottery they are still new ones for sale because if the run is limited I will almost certainly have to pay upwards of £2000...!

  • OMG IT'S PERFECT!

  • Great review. That is one awesome looking camera.Thanks.

  • onlu thing bugging me at the moment is the location of the eye piecce but i guess as its a small camera not much to do aboutt it

  • Isn't this exactly the same as your previous video?

  • @ByBleeker - more product photos and we forgot to mention movie mode in the original.

  • i want one!

  • Very nice review mate, but at the beginning of the video you said the camera has a full metal body. The body (unfortunately), is actually plastic, it's the top and bottom plates that are metal.

    Cheers.

  • @Pro1er That would be a big mistake and an awful shame.

  • last

  • First

  • @staniz4 @maruciao got anything better to do?
