We all understand investment play a significant role in terms of reconstruction and development, but also Afghanistan is a war-affected country and its people are vulnerable and that boils down to lack of investment in education. Well we have problems in Afghanistan that has to be addressed, drug, corruption and security are some of our problems which has been covered in this documentary. Despite all the problems, drugs were not this prominent. This girl makes it seem like the whole country is full of drug addicts. That was not the case. This drug is bad. As for a former addict of painkillers, i can partially understand the plight of these people. Opiates, although not physically damaging, will slow degrade your thoughts and turn you into zombies. If it is not stopped it will destroy the world! We all understand investment play a significant role in terms of reconstruction and development, but also Afghanistan is a war-affected country and its people are vulnerable and that boils down to lack of investment in education. Why is she getting so much praise? This documentary is humiliating and not a true reflection of reality. I live in the US and visited home a couple years back. Despite all the problems, drugs were not this prominent. This girl makes it seem like the whole country is full of drug addicts. That was not the case. I think she was on a time crunch and had a pre-scripted plan and found some cases to prove her biases. This is not journalism.

They live nomadic life in tents even now; the new freedom has earned him the right to tent in shirpur affluent neighbourhood of Kabul to benefit from urban environment. Yalda Jon let's be more careful not to go as far as looking down on our homeland or people if we cannot present a more balanced view. I am sure we have got countless heroes with tremendous achievement not less than that australian man.

Sounding quite pesimistic! Certainly not everyone feels that the car behind them will explode any minute, holiday will be spoilt by an eminent attack or Taliban are just outside the town waiting to invade. Let's view issues into perspective: ordinary Afghans life is not much more uncertain than for instance the people in either pakistan or bangladesh. This a regional reality; they have got even more druggies spots. Why only an australian is chosen to sound like a hero here?

I agree with you about the security issue, but keep in mind the Yalda has not lived there at all; she is an Afghan, but she has only lived like any other foreigner from a developed country. It is only natural that she should feel so threatened and afraid.

it is so sad how afghans are so hostile towards eachother and untrusting...the best that afghans can do is bad mouth someone who is trying to help ( inside afghanistan and outside). They never appreciate someone who is knowledgable or someone who is trying to bring a change and contribute in anyway they can..They dont show any gratitude..Just very doomed people sadly. Afghans dont realize that they have become a joke of the world community because of their actions and attitude.

This drug is bad. As for a former addict of painkillers, i can partially understand the plight of these people. Opiates, although not physically damaging, will slow degrade your thoughts and turn you into zombies. If it is not stopped it will destroy the world! Just look at what happened in China when opium was widely distributed. It is very damaging to society b/c it feels so good that afterwards, nothing else just seems to be able to match it. So you chase that high as a pleasure seeking human
