  • what chords r those???

  • Dude I swear this guy thinks he made this song he's telling you about but it's actually a real song

  • @drummerzach95 Yea, i was like dude that's awesome actually but then i said ok wait it's too awesome isn't that a song?!

  • Does anyone else feel that rock has been very boxed in for the last couple of years?

  • YOU CAN TELL HE WAS A HIPPY

  • I need to be myself

I can't be no one else

    I'm feeling supersonic

    Give me gin and tonic

  • @chest002 that sounds cool

  • @Valval1296 The words are from the group Oasis. The song is Supersonic. Your tune reminded me of the song. You have some interesting tips.

  • As an upcoming songwriter, I pay close attention to your ideas; it is making sense to me. Thanks!

  • He dosen't deserve all the hate he gets. He's a good musician and songwriter then he tries to help other musicians out and he gets all this shit

  • thanks, good advice

  • great advice! this helped me get out of my creative drought!! Thanks!!!

  • this is ONE approach. Songwriting is all about conveying emotion to back up the lyrics ... what's to say that emotions can't change rapidly throughout a song? Take Radiohead. They've got some songs which follow this dude's theory, but other ones which...

  • Excellent - thanks for this!

  • Holy crap I'm not ALONE :D. I would use about 4-8 chords in songs I create and make a different rythym out of each one. I also don't add any single-notes because I might mess up and stuff.

  • Who the hell is Don?

  • advice*

  • he needs a new bedroom...

    great advise though.

  • great info, thanks for sharing .

  • This is all true. Most good bands dont have to complicated songs. Check out AC/DC or Guns 'n Roses and stuff like that. ;)

  • a bit inspired by Nirvana huh

  • @masterdurchgriff i kinda thought that too =/

  • Check out my channel for more info on chord and melodies

  • No originality and no talent at all

  • lol

  • Fuck pop songs.

  • "...Even know its complicated its not intresting."

    Listen to Schism by Tool

  • @Hudzan eww. try Shocker on Shock Street. :) Dr. Acula.

  • You've gotta retarded to think Shock Street is better then Tool

  • @Hudzan youve gotta be a tweaker or really ugly if you think Tool is any good. period.

  • Yeh, Lets troll.

    Your mom sucks Hitler's dick.

  • @Hudzan I love you. :) <3

  • Aah, I love you too =)

  • thank you so much!

I try to write a song and I have the lyrics but it's hard to do music with it...

  • been looking at some of the videos on ''song writing tips'' etc. at last...somebody who speaks sence! well in mate...

  • I'm amazed. Expert village has finally got someone with good advice.

  • @Hufflewaffle i know right

  • why isn't he using any words? he's just saying, "dun dun dun dun dun do do ..."

  • probably no copyright yet

  • why dont he sing the reel words

  • Expert Songwriters can break away from simplicity, like Pink Floyd, but 99.99% can't write that well in there entire life, so Most people shouldn't try :)

PS: I'm saying this so people won't compete me

  • He knows what he's talking about but, there's a danger in encouraging someone to write simple songs.

  • NO, he knows what he's talking about. I'm a songwriter and I know he is right.

  • @RosalieCullenFan It really depends on what you want to do. If you want to sell millions of albums like nickleback, go ahead and play four chord songs. If you want to change time signatures or chords as often as you like to suit the song go ahead. You're right from a professional standpoint, but just because a song is technical doesn't mean it's crowded. Just that this guy can't write anything technical and so he's biased towards that type of music.

  • @RosalieCullenFan Oh dear... A songwriter with the word Cullen and Fan in their name... what sort of music do you write O.o

  • look at "milow - ayo technology" only 3 chords :P

  • Not the same concept at all. That's a rap song with a sang hook. But, I know what you mean. The problem with songs that are one set of changes is they get really boring really fast.

  • village people .........

  • thanks man!!! i going to try it !!

  • that is most definately i fell in love with a girl by the white stripes

  • sounds like sour girl .STPOR VELVET REVOLVER I FORGET

  • STP for sure.

    FUCKING LOVE THAT SONG!

  • that chord progression is from "fell in love with a girl" by the white stripes.

  • Wow that was surprisingly helpful. One of those obvious things that you dont really realize. Good stuff!

  • That's really cool and helpful :D

I really want to write my own songs but I was never sure how to go about it, but this makes it simplier :D

  • pretty good stuff i just started a song and i made the chorus first its Wat came first but i didn't know how to make music the verses but i think i know now, just use the same set of chords just different progressions and rhythm....i guess?

  • awesome that really helped me

    thanks

  • =] nice

  • awesome let me try it out!!! =D

  • thank you
