  • very cool video, two great ways to capture an image brought together perfectly, i am intrigued though, how does your battery not run out? is there a technique to this too?

  • @LeMeAtOm thanks! most of these shots were less than 2 hours, but the day to nights were longer. typical (good) AA batteries in the camera would last about 8 hours if the display is turned off while shooting.

May I ask you a couple of questions?

What shutter speed did you use? And what frames per second?

    Regards.

  • @lostinspain thanks! shutter speed is around 1/250 and fps around 0.5 (every 2 seconds), and the video is played back in 25fps.

los tilt shift, son de lujo!!!

  • @yongarin thank you!

  • Did you use a tilt shift lens, or was this edited using a series of effects?

  • @burgernuds the effect was done in post using After Effects.

  • Great job, In 2009 I lived very close to all these shots!! Maybe I'm in one!!! 0_o

  • @PH0river Nice! Just hope you weren't the bicyclist who got hit by the van...

  • @jnvdub note no reply lol

  • i dont get it... how did you make it look like a scale model? this trips me out.

  • @Lustikk you can use editing software or a tilt-shift lens to achieve the look. it looks miniature because everything around the edges is very unfocused and blurry and the center object is focused perfectly clear. i guess that this makes it look like a model because when you look at something really close up, the object you look at is very detailed and everything else in your peripheral vision is blurry.

i'm no photography expert, but this is just what i noticed after watching some of these

  • Great job!

    Team Televisual

  • The old land, some old and new people, new building, new houses mix with old HUD, new city name. it is new look. any ways, after killed millions innocent, the Vietcong owned every thing. the loose is Vietnamese who is bully by communist polices or Vietnamese communist governors who took vietnamese's land then sell to the foreign people. who owns properties in Vietnam is murders or support murders who is the vietcong, who is fellows of china.

  • one more thing around 4.38 at the end of the vid when they set up the outside restaurants is AWESOME, ate there every night for like 2 weeks. so good

  • @Zitropat No, at the time they played this music in most cafes in the city and I thought it was very appropriate due to the French influence on the city.

  • @jnvdub You should visit Buenos Aires someday. The French influence is there, cafés everywhere. I wish you create some tilt shift movie of BA. Tango is present too.

  • @Zitropat I plan on it!

  • @jnvdub

    watch?v=wHINUGxjRbY&feature=related

  • HCMC stands for Ho Chi Minh City, not Saigon.

  • hi ive just got a canon a550 and have got the chdk but am trying to find some good scripts for it, where did you get the script to do this great looking footage

  • awesome

  • what is the name of the song ?

  • Diferente by Gotan Project

  • so i'm curious do you have it set to take pictures at quarter second intervals or is this taking a solid video and you just sped it up?

  • its stills taken every 1 or 2 seconds.

  • very nice video and it was just using the Canon A540 with CHDK? no special lenses just that? because after seeing this style of photography i would love to get into it myself.

and i would give 5 stars if i could but i can only like it now so i will like it

  • nice!!

  • how you get pics from that high up?

  • The shots are from hotels, bars, and rooftops around town. HCMC has a great selection of rooftops. Check them out!

  • lol i'm just waiting for the moment in the timelapse when it shows a street with bunch of cars going then traffic stops, police tape comes up in the middle there are like a few bikes and a bus :P i can't believe there arn't more crashes lol

  • haha yeah me too. there is one in the first roundabout shot between a bike and a van...

  • @sornodrog they don't use police tape. its just a normal thing over there if there's some crash. especially if someone dies they just keep on looking and road traffic keeps going. seen it before over in vietnam.

  • oh, so bizarre. i have no idea how this film has been done. very nice thought..

  • thank you!

  • wonderful!!!!!! i even love my city more after watching this video :X

  • i love the picture on green grass symbolize the South is a market Cho Ben Thanh and the North is a Ancient House in Ha Noi of Viet Nam. so beautiful.

  • thanks!

  • I think this was sweet!

  • thank you!

  • Oh I love that music on this video... (I love tilt shift videos)

  • That was really cool!

  • Fantastic!

Do you have a script that tilt-shifts the photos while doing a time lapse?

I have a canon A-530 and would love to do the same, but all I've managed is time lapse with chdk (can't find tilt shift)

  • i used chdk to do the time-lapse, then added the tilt-shift effect with photoshop and/or after effects. you can find a tutorial on the web.

  • Thanks! I was pretty sure I had to do batch editing in photoshop.

  • everythings in the cities was so busy the street the river ........ it's made up saigon so beautiful!!!!

  • @hitman133295

It DOES look fake... That's the point. It LOOKS fake.

  • Duh its not real but still very nice
