this illustration youre working on is very similar to my still. i am very much influenced by andrew pommier and i was wondering if you can do a walk through of how you go about doing all the bits of shading you do on the face, hair, clothes, and such. especially knowing the correct places and building up from light to dark. i think it would help my flat drawings tremendously in art school since i draw in this manner

I live in England and most bookstores do special orders- although quite often begrudgingly unfortunately (we're a miserable nation-sorry about that) I wouldn't know because usually I order things off Amazon if they are hard to come by but certainly when I try to get hold of Diana Wynne Jones books (which are absurdly hard to come by) my local book shop is eager to help.

Heh, my AP 2D concentration was "Chickens", and my primary style of art was illustration. Quite fascinating watching a professional illustrator work, on my old AP concentration no less. The ridiculous idea of a chicken laying a giant egg even seems like something I would do.

I feel compelled to offer an answer the first question (Sakurablossom4eva?), since right now I'm doing rough script work for Flying Romance. I'm surprised how similar the process is to my technical stuff. I do a series of detail passes, right now Flying Romance is on its second pass. The published edition will probably be the fifth. Well, if you want to teach english in Japan, you HAVE to know Japanese so you can say,

"Hai Sensei! Means, Yes Teacher, In english."

You would have to say the Japanese word, then say the english word that matches, so yes, you have to know Japanese, especially because, the reason the kids are in your ENGLISH TEACHING class is because they don't know english, so they will be speaking in Japanese, meaning you won't be able to understand them..

i started a while back just a suggestion i started off watching videos of ppl drawing and copy their moments and got used to drawing like that and i would suggest u did all i did chibbi face,hair, body, eyes and all so and example of sumtin i drew to start was peter griffin and his family tho i got better and skipped to last part and did by looking alone

yeah i just started watching these videos last night and thats what i am doing, i drew those 6 chibi characters and then I watched 100 ways to draw manga eyes and I watched him paint the dinosour for his illustration it has really worked well. What are the Basic art tools for a manga? lol my friend and I are trying to put together a manga, we have the characters and the main story line. I'm us to using pencil and paper lol, but any advice would be nice.

It depends on the artist. For lineart, usally an ink pen. Faber Castells are good. The traditional/original way is doing this with a fountain pen, but that's difficult.
