When I finally understood that, then I began to understand why some of the woman stayed in an abusive relationship, plus the so called men would verbally abuse them and lower their self worth to make them think that could not stand alone or get a better guy.

How do I know this... first hand experience, talking to women's aid therapists and other domestic abuse survivors. They beat you and control with the love you have for them and also the children you share. Don't be so judgmental. You clearly have no idea what it's like to be in an abusive relationship.

All the women at women's aid (including myself) were confident, independent, educated women. We all had great jobs, bags of confidence, strong headed. By the end of the abuse we were pathetic, weak women. A shadow of what we were when we met our abuser. They all used our beauty, strength, job and friends

My mom been free since 1991 and she did it for her children until she received therapy and started to believe she was and is worth life without pain, feeling unsafe, walking on egg shells, etc. You're NOT alone! No one deserves to be abused. It's NOT you're fault and you didn't make him or her do this or that, i.e., "Now, look you made me do!" Sound familiar? Do you want your children to grow up and be abusive. It's a pattern that needs to be broken.

@Robinnwist Yes, that's what many women and even men say who have never been in an abusive relationship, but when it comes right down to it, and you are in that situation the abuser has broken you down you feel like you are nothing. Also, if you did kill him or her (abuser) you would go to prison. If you had kids they would be parentless. I am just saying it is easier said.
