If you read through the comments on their debate it's ridiculous. Even if you are a person who believes theism is false or untenable I cannot see how one can claim that Hitchens beat Craig or even came close. For Craig almost the entire debate was begging Hitchens to provide an argument for atheism or begging for a response to the arguments for theism. I just don't understand how people can be so closed off intellectually....it's frustrating. Sorry for venting.

I have to give the late Christopher Hitchens respect for participating in a debate with Willian Lane Craig, it takes some guts to express your personal views in the public arena and have them up for scrutiny, unlike Richard Dawkins.
True, I do not agree with Hitchens but find myself drawn to watching videos of him. He was a very entertaining and interesting man. As a christian I wish he found salvation and could overcome what I sensed as pride. It also seems as though his basic argument against God usually comes down to him saying he doesn't like the way things are, so they couldn't have been created by a God.

Hitchens did what all Atheists do, attack religion. Religion, for the most part, is man made. It has nothing to do with the question of whether or not God exists. Religious people had Christ tortured and executed. Craig stayed on point and didn't fall into the trap of defending religion. He continually went back to the logical and scientific argument for the origin of the universe.
Seems Lane Craig provided Hitchens with some great arguments, good work. Hopefully he treated him with respect; respecting someone is part of loving your enemies which is an important commandment Jesus left his diciples with.

william lane craig is one of the best debaters in the world. that doesn't mean his world view is correct but he certainly defeated hitchens, atkins, and soon to be dawkins provided he shows up

It's seems pretty easy to debunk religion, so I don't see what his problem was on this particular occasion. Hitchens is a crappy debater. He's a bit too emotional for my tastes. But this doesn't prove anything. One debate is NOT going to prove that there is a god. Methodological inquiry is the only way us humans can tackle such a task.

atheism arguments always sound persuasive initially especially if you want to pursue some sort of sinful lifestyle and you want no accountability - however these arguments seem to crack and bleed everytime you hear some Mega-atheist start talking about the universe always being there or matter created itself - that's when I start running back to my Bible ....real fast.

I'm starting to see some atheist videos using the same tactics used by Muslims in their videos...kinda speaks to the weakness of their arguments. Straw-manning, triumphal declarations, equivocation...I had an atheist tell me that WLC knows nothing about history the other day, and when I pointed out that he has a masters in history, the atheist refused to acknowledge this and declared himself "rational."

William Lane Craig clearly won this debate. Christopher Hitchens repeatedly stumbled over his words desperately searching for a counter argument. Hitchens was left speechless and did not even bother giving a closing argument. When Christopher Hitchens managed to speak he raised irrelevant points that did not address the question that was being debated, "Does God exist". Hitchens repeatedly brings up the misdeeds of Catholicism and people doing evil in the name of God, but that is irrelevant.

Mr Hitchens by his own choice rejects the gospel message of God's salvation and free gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus.
He chooses to be seperated from God in this life and in eternity...so be it.
IMHO, it's a very 'irrational' choice, but none the less it's his choice.

Hitchens did what all Atheists do, attack religion. Religion, for the most part, is man made. It has nothing to do with the question of whether or not God exists. Religious people had Christ tortured and executed. Craig stayed on point and didn't fall into the trap of defending religion. He continually went back to the logical and scientific argument for the origin of the universe.

It's seems pretty easy to debunk religion, so I don't see what his problem was on this particular occasion. You can't really say he "Destroyed Atheism" in this debate, he just wiped the floor with Hitchens. I found Lane Craig interesting at times (at one point I considered the possibility he was right) and at others just frustrating like I usually feel at a Christian case for God rant. 4 stars.
