  • so he is...Zohar?

  • @Perisher21 lol, we all miss zohar

  • By the way, not all of Chrono Trigger's work is from Mitsuda. Silent Night most notably, and a few others are composed by Uematsu.

  • I think Nobuo Uematsu is the better composer, but that's just an opinion. The fact is both are very talented to say the least. To think Uematsu has absolutely nothing on Mitsuda is just fanboyism/ignorance. If one is better than the other, than it's arguable. There is no clear better.

  • I love CT, but his best work is on Chrono Cross.

  • @spearrbk you are right, but ct has variety

  • You should all know that before he was a great composer, he was Uematsu's student. You might show a bit of respect.

  • @Elezeid no he wasn't , he was working under Uematsu's orders when they where developing CT, Mitsuda wanted to take control of the whole thing and it was granted that honor, Square initialily wanted to have Uematsu composing the music, unfortunately Mitsuda worked so hard and for so long that he could not complete his track list , that's where Uematsu enter just to finish what mitsuda started AND with mitsuda's direction.

  • If you read about the production of Chrono Trigger you'd be surprised how much this guy suffered for the music, and it shows through in the music. There's real human passion in it.

  • @completebastard thats why its good.

  • THE BEST!! *-*

  • I LOVED the Xenogears soundtrack.

  • Such a legend. One of my favorite composers and influences. You can tell he has such a passion for what he does.

  • but I would only say this for the game...as for the ost and composer, Mitsuda is far more great than Uematsu...Hands Down!!! Uematsu's style, in my opinion, is too straight-forward fantasy genre...just like you've come to expect in his works in every FF game...while Mitsuda's has this style like he can connect not just to the player but also music critic player as well...I don't know if you've ever done this but I do pause my game for several mins once in a while just to listen to the music....

  • to all here who did go for uematsu I must say that is why I didn't like the final fantasy franchise before...it is too mainstream...same goes for the music...other square works like Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross, Vagrant Story, etc. where not given the same attention and respect like FF did. I would say that I liked the Chrono series and VS more than FF and it is only recently that I've changed my view aftr I did get my hands on the FF8 game. don't get me wrong, as I said, that WAS BEFORE...

  • @5c53eD

Both of them are still underrated. Because they became big in videogame music, but they don't get any public attentions compared to film music composers.

  • This guy should be up there with john willams

  • i have so much respect for this guy.

  • He was really young when he composed those scores and that amazes me a lot.

  • mitsuda rules. . . uematsu rules. . . i'd love to see them jam together! all hail mitsuda!

  • i'm suprised there isn't more love for the Cross OST!

  • Mitsuda is the best; the CT OST stays on my ipod at all times.

  • 1:16

Damn straight, you should've just chose all of them.

  • Agreed

  • one of the best of the history. chrono trigger snes ost is full of true soul! thank you for the music yasunori

  • Coolest. Man. Ever.

  • Yasunori is so awesome.

I bet he proved Square so much wrong after they finally let him compose for CT, with his legacy only building from there on xD

The only other notable composer for rpgs that come to mind as good as he is, is Noriyuki Iwadare.

    They need to collaborate.

  • Me encanta su musica, definitivamente es la mejor que he escuchado. Sus canciones me llevan a otro mundo. =D

    ♥♥♥Viva Yasunori ♥♥♥

  • This guy has composed such beautiful pieces. Chrono Trigger OST is my fav.

  • now isaw him... his a genius wooooow

  • oh my god i have always wanted to see him because he made such interesting chrono cross ost ....WOW

  • His compositions in Mario Party 64 are some of my favourites! ^^

    Rejoice!

  • Now, did Mitsuda compose the music for the Legaia games? Because I heard that was actually done by a woman.

  • Actually he did a part of compose for Legaia Duel Saga with Hitoshi Sakimoto and Michiru Oshima. And he also participated in Megaman Legends,Mario Party 2 and even Resident Evil drama album since 1998 when he left Square soft.

  • shut the fuck up fan boys, we can ENJOY all the music.

  • I've come to think that Nobuo Uematsu is somehow overrated, just as John Williams and James Horner are in the US. In my opinion, Yasunoti Mitsuda offers music that is comparable to that of Jerry Goldsmith, in the sense that is wide and varied, as opposed to traditional and sometimes dull.

He is a wonderful composer and a very inspiring person.

    AR

  • yasunori mitsuda + nobuo uematsu > Beethoven + Bach.

  • My favorite composer

  • Sem duvida é o melhore compositore que eu já vi!

    Yasunori Mitsuda é o MELHOR!

  • really amazing sound tracks although they're 13 years old, like matsuda-san said.

I wish they make a remake for chrono cross.

  • Best Japanese composer.

  • Best composer period

  • Exactly Nobuo Uematsu has nothing on Mitsuda.Uematsu's music has a way of fleshing out the fantasy worlds of the games he composes for, that's great and all, but Mitsuda's music skips all that useless rubbish and cuts directly to the core of your soul.

  • Hey, don't be bashing on Uematsu. >:I

Both of them make great music in their own way, you can't possibly try to compare them.

I played trough Lost Odyssey recently, and damnit I was sold on the music the instant the intro screen showed up. :3

  • I didn't say anything negative about him, I just said Mitsuda is better ;).I complimented Uematsu by saying his music has atmosphere.Yeah I'm thinking of trying Lost Odyssey soon.

  • very velly said

  • @BluKhaos love both of them

  • @BluKhaos I enjoy his work a bit more for that reason too...but I will have to say I enjoy Nobuo's work a lot too...It's just that Mitsuda's music has made a bit more an impact on me...it stays with you.

  • @BluKhaos I respectfully disagree, but as its your opinion I will say that he is a freaking awesome composer. Yet if you go out there and ask any person "Chrono Trigger" or "Final Fantasy" more often then not people say Final Fantasy, and when you ask them why? They will say, the music got to them, the feeling.

I think Uematsu is one of the best, if not THE best composer for video games out there. But Id be stupid to not say they are both awesome composers.

  • @Phantomx16 I'd argue that most would pick Final Fantasy because it's more mainstream and known than Crono Trigger. I like Uematsu and I missed his work in Final Fantasy XIII but his music hasn't drawn me into a game and kept me there like Mitsuda's work. Uematsu is definitely one of the top video game composers out there but I would rank Mitsuda above him.

  • @BluKhaos I disagree at so many levels. There is no possible valid way to speak that way about uematsu. Uematsu made so many good soundtracks, worked on so many games and still to this day is capable of composing an original soundtrack. All his soundtracks are memorable, fitting and beautiful.

Having said that, i respect Yasunori Mitsuda all the way and am a huge HUGE fan of his music. Just wanted to get the first part of the comment of my heart.

  • i am sweet

  • Best World composer. :)

  • still john petrucci ....

  • @SonOfYoungwood I totally agree. Another one is Sumio Shiratori, the Moomin composer.

  • @SonOfYoungwood that'll be Nobue Uematsu but he is quite good

  • CT has one of the best musics in time.
