  • I never liked the sound of the Strat, even this one. But that PRS sounds GOOOD!

  • Excellent, Axl! I've played Strats for 3 decades and have been considering getting a PRS with single coil pick ups. Your video helps me immensely! On another note, do you give guidance on how to set the guitar amps/effects for the sounds you get on your video? This is one area I've always struggled in and I always wind up with just using presets. Any advice? Thanks.

  • cool

  • things are gettin pretty heavy duty around here very sir

  • The Strat wins big time.

  • Strat singles, hands-down.

  • Very cheesy

    Flash backs to the 80s

  • The MIDI backing tracks give me goosebumps.

  • @wrf1973 HEy MY Friend .Thats not MIDI files. )))) This song is recorded and written my ME Axl Bolz Blue Moon .Played some original Kurzweil Floyd Synthesizer and more Hardware . You can get more goosebumps if you search on I Tunes my New Album Matrix Spheres or on Google Matrix Spheres .I am always on Top at Google )))) or go to my You Tube Channel and Go to Albums .Dear Axl Bolz and THY for your Passion .

  • Maple fretboards sound crisper...

  • I'd reverse that and put the PRS as the Queen and the Fender as the King. It's hard to explain but the Fender has this little extra tone that no other guitar can duplicate.

  • Awesome instruments awesome sound I want them both. Oh I love the music More please

  • No question the PRS is a fabulous instrument, but my choice is the Strat. It has more reach in its tone and that Gilmour/Pink Floyd mystique factor. I like the warmth of the PRS but the shimmery sound of the Strat is almost erotic, a near religious experience. Great playing by the way.

  • Strat is better, more full-bodied sound.

  • I go with the strat, much better and original sound and that classic look and feel! idk about prs, but my dream guitar setup is a Fender and Les Paul. Both legendary and both equally amazing.

  • This is fantastic! Thank you. Love the tone differences.

  • omg.. this is awesome!!! insane tone.. just the some of dave, same touch man.. effect used? please answer me, bro..

  • bot are very nice. not a huge major difference to me.

  • Love the strat, much nicer

  • The Strat sounds much better for this kind of tone, and sounds really close to Gilmour's tone :)

  • i like that treble "quack" the strat offers ... but the prs has a warm tone that the strat just cant do ... its too hard to decide

  • just a tip, i think the delay is a bit.... harsh (i'm not sure on the right word here)... maybe try turning down its level? i think it would sound better if the delay was less prominent and a bit quieter

  • love listening to you, most of your vidoe go straght to my favorites.

  • You are good dude, but can you do other things than play like Gilmour??? Cause you just do the same type of playing on all your video!! I'm a big huge fan of David and I found my sound with a mix of him and other... but find your way, we don't need a copy of David Gilmour, we need more than that and I know you can do more with that touch and feeling ;)

Anyway good job!!! From Montréal Québec

  • Fender all the way!!!!!!

  • I hate comparing instruments, especially ones that are so different like these. set neck, bolt on, alder, mahogany, very different p/ups, p/ups on the prs are mounted to the body, the trem is different. A better question would be if PRS was around in the 60s and 70s would Gilmour still be playing a strat? 0_o

  • the strat is so thin against the PRS... amazing guitar

  • From my experience, as an owner of both an american strat as well as a prs custom 24 (with humbuckers/ singlecoil), I feel that the prs out-shines the strat in terms of distortion. That being said, I do somewhat prefer the slightly brighter clean sounds that the fender offers. The prs however is so much more versatile. It ranges from a brighter les paul to a slightly more mellow strat and is as a result my guitar of choice. Of course... if you want to sound like Gilmour, you want a strat.

  • i totally prefer the PRS sound

  • great music but the background is a bit much, don't you think?

  • WOW!!!! This gave me goosebumps.....where can I get your music man?

  • @juegas Oh ya and I cried too...fuck it

  • @juegas HEy MY Friend .You can get more goosebumps if you search on I Tunes my New Album Matrix Spheres or on Google Matrix Spheres .I am always on Top at Google )))) or go to my You Tube Channel and Go to Albums .Dear Axl Bolz and THY for your Passion .

  • @Schnullyman Thank you my bro...live long and prosper. From one Gilmour fan to another.

  • Want a Strat sound, stick with the Strat.

Want a PRS sound buy a PRS.

  • Nice job! PRS blows Fender away in all aspects!

  • hi could you please tell me where you got the backing track? thanks you

  • great job!!!

  • Hi, wonderful backing track and video! Can you send me this backing track please at msciclun@maltanet.net ? It is absolutely amazing , your playing is fabulous as well.

    Thank you

  • S T R A T !!! nothing else !!! greetings from LES from berlin/germany

  • Neither suck. Tone and quality of build is tops. I just wonder how both would sound through another amp besides Mesa Boogie. I love Mesa amps, but they do tend to have unbelievable amount of gain saturation. I think PRS 305 is great alternative.

  • The PRS is a unigue guitar. the Strat has a little more "spank" to it... but im sure the PRS's playability kills it.

  • The G-string on the original fender needs a little notch up in pitch :/

  • I like the Strat much better...sorry I don't agree with you on the PRS. The Strat has more "punch" and - to me - sounds more like he original Floyd.

  • this is not davids tone...

  • bEAUTIFUL...I THINK I LOVE YOU!

  • Get those damn birds outa my face.

  • @Schnullyman What's the difference in sustain and pinch harmonics between them?

  • The strat has a better single coil sound thiner the PRS is a bit warmer and smoother

  • @Howardtripper Yes i say the same .

  • @Schnullyman Can you send me this backing track? It is absolutely amazing and so is your playing. I would be honored to use it.

    Thank you

  • @Schnullyman Will you please send this to me? I am in love with this backing track. I am anxiously awaiting it!

    Thanks

  • @Howardtripper Probably come from the rosewood fretboard on the 305, a real good comparison would be to pick a full maple neck 305 too :)

  • @Howardtripper And bound neck too should play a role :)

  • @Howardtripper There is a test of the 305 where the owner lowered the pickups and it sounds pretty much like a top notch strat. More jangly than PRS's factory setting.

  • @Howardtripper Possibly due to the rosewood vs maple neck.

  • @jobryan26

You also have a set neck vs a bolt on neck

  • Excelente!!! Gostei muito desta composição. Obrigado por compartilhar.

  • The PRS just sounds like a generic single-coil guitar - the Strat sounds like a Strat should.

  • While I'm a HUGE PRS fanatic, I think the Strat does the Gilmour sound a little better. I'm sure that PRS feels a whole lot better though. None of my guitars play as well, or stay in tune as well as my PRSi. Great job. Keep it up!

  • One of the few Youtube videos that accurately compare guitars. So many people blow it with bad microphones, bad amps, bad playing etc. THIS is done right! Thanks! (And I prefer this PRS sound to the Strat!)

  • Great sound, fantastic music.

  • I think that maybe the Strat has a longer scale than the PRS, so that will also affect its' tone.

  • strat ftw

  • @NR2112 Hey""""" I understand ?

  • @Schnullyman Strat "For The Win" - I think the strat sounds better in this video :) Good Job!!!

  • @NR2112 Ah .Yes i thing the same but the PRS are also awesome ! I love the differed between the original Gilmour Strat to the PRS 305.For me are the Neck better to playing by PRS

  • I think that Strat has more glassy sound, slightly harmonically richer, especially at lower register, than PRS with more polished tone. Is this really the difference in wood and somehow construction, which is basically the same, or it's just a pickups?

  • This guitar has an amazing tone. I'm jelaous!! Axel, dear friend keep 'em comming please! :)))

  • Nice Ascot!

  • that tone is delicous.even the prs does the ton e justice.great job mate.

  • sweet guy!, I have been thinking about getting a gilmour though the PRS are always great.

  • Die beiden Gitarren klingen ziemlich geil. Ich mag aber eher die PRS, weil die einfach besser aussieht. Ich hoffe ich kann die mir auch irgendwann leisten.

Naja ich bin ja nur Schüler.

  • Somehow you read my mind, I wanted you to compare these two guitars :)
