  • thnx very very much!!!

  • what kind if keyboard is that? i want one but have no where to start as in what to get lol

  • Your combination of talent and teaching ability is a gift. I love Tori and DM, and am practicing what's you've taught. Well done!

  • If it weren't for listening to it note by note by the sound of the piano, I would be lost, you went a little fast at the end. Other than that, great job

  • why does google send me here.Electro vibe lol.Depeche Mode where a band unlike this shit.

  • @joebstarsurfer Work on your English before commenting here again.

  • @joebstarsurfer shut up idiot is a fantastic tutorial!

  • fucking anying way to show Depeche Mode great song Tori Amos fuck off).

  • Basic question: What's going on with the keyboard sound here, do you have sustain or a pedal down because my basic, old casio doesn't sound anything like this.

  • very good job, thank you for helping

  • Nice.. Do you know where Enjoy the silence was recorded ? In Denmark :) and it was supposed to be a Acoustic version on guitar by Martin, but Alan dissapproved

  • great job. you made it pretty easy...been playing piano for a few months now and this totally helped.

  • @staticstate Thank you.

  • Thank you for this, so usefull, but I thought it was the Tori Amos version...hey, you can use both hands, can't you?

  • @janotosinnumeros It's the Depeche Mode version. This was originally an all Tori Amos channel and everything on it related to her.

  • @wbarreguy Anyway it's very useful, 'cause i've always wanted to play the depeche mode version too.

  • thank you for video!

  • @VictorsFilmStudio You're welcome! Thank you for the comment.

  • if you want to learn playing "enjoy the silence" don't watch this video

  • @strax70 Yes, I suggest everyone go to your channel and watch the shockingly low-skilled performance of the song instead. Your comment is a bad advertisement for an even worse video. Away with you.

  • Where's breaks right through me, can't u understand oh my little girl?

  • hey cool vid, but i think at 2:33 you made a mistake. the e flat minor chord is just a leading tone chord, which is not alien to its relative major key.. maybe i'm wrong not sure. anyway, sweet

  • @jess4less It's alien to the key signature. The relative major would be Gb.

  • @wbarreguy correct me if im wrong, i have no musical education and maybe i just don't get the point, but what rule was broken? i've always believed d# f# a# combination makes an usual e flat minor chord.

  • @fedrmihalich The song is set in c minor. The eb minor chord is alien to the key signature. The note g is natural in c minor. The songwriters borrow gb from an alien key signature to expand the song's chord vocabulary. It's very effective in this song. Hope that helps.

  • @wbarreguy oh, it's about the relations between chords in the song structure, not about the notes in the specific chord, i see

i haven't reached this chapter in my music manual for preschoolers yet)

thank you very much for the explanation and especially for your tutorial, it helped me a lot!

  • Great job, dude!

  • Thanks for this. Im a guitar player but this was useful anyway. Like someone else posted do some more DM please. Again great job and don't let the hate affect you.

  • Top stuff Brian!

  • bit of a rough tutorial, but workable....

  • thanks Brian!

    i love this song

    you are the best!

  • Love this tutorial

Can you pleaseeeeeeeeeee make a tutorial for Depeche Mode's studio version of "Come Back"?!?!

  • Comment removed

  • thanks!

  • It'll just take watching this a few times, cutting out the chord explanation parts and following your hand movements and it'll be great.

  • THANK You SOOOO MUCH!!!!

  • @paullovrey I don't know who your comment is aimed at here, but on this channel, low-IQ degenerates are banned routinely. Permanent ban on you.

  • Loving this! I've only just picked up a keyboard a couple of days ago and I''ve nearly got this cracked. YOu do go a bit fast after 4 mins or so but I realised you where repeating the last bit before the chorus. Sounds brilliant, thanks, please post some more!! Never let me down would be AWESOME! Thanks again. Jon...

  • @jonsablue Thank you.

  • u talk like the comic book guy from the simpsons

  • @CfHTV YW!

  • can you help me out i kind of got lost at 4:16

  • @scarycrowful There might be some things in the comment section to help.

  • @MrBisupa Whatever.

  • thanks for this pal. im thinking of remixing this and this helps a lot

  • great vids man--i really am wanting to learn some Fire to your Plain tho--so if you get any free time...:)

  • @fuzzplay Ooooh, that's a tricky one cause the pulse of that song is so sophisticated. I'm not even kidding! :-)

  • can i just say something, this guy has dedicated a load of time to showing people that are interested how to play this, and for that i am really greatfull, its people like you that make you tube a fantastic site, and for that i once again thank you

  • @carlosvandangos2 ,, oh im learning the saxophone and nobody on here has done a sax tutorial, so im using this as a guide, in about 5 years when i get half decent ill put a tutorial on here and dedicate it to my top teacher!!! :0)

  • @carlosvandangos2 Aw, thank you.

  • wow keysb3p is a pretentious jerk! thanks for the video wbarreguy, I just wish I could understand the last part... it gets a little muddled at the end....

  • 5 stars ;)

  • due a get lost in 4:37 can you tell me the notes or someone who get it please? nice video!

  • dude, ure amazing. Ive learn to play china thanx to ur tutorials. Ive a request, can u do a tutorial on icicle?? ive been dying to cover it and cant get the notes together. Again, ure awesome. Keep rockin.

  • @MrJaironunez80 Thank you. I will put the Icicle riff in the next Tori tutorial.

  • who doesnt cover this song lol... ??? the song is so legend but all there songs are down

  • Really good tutorial. I've learned much from it.

I need some help. In one part I can't see what you have pressed. Can you write it down so I could press right keys? :)

    Thanks.

    I've learned this part:

    [C D# G] [G A#]

    [C D# G] [G A#]

    [C D# G] C2 D2 [G A#] C2 A#

    [C D# G] C2 D2 [G A#] C2 A#

    [C D# G] C2 D2 [G A#] C2 C2 A#

  • Could use a version where u actually play this tune , becouse it gets messy when u start correcting yourself , im trying to write it down [cd#g] cd [d#ga#] ca 2x [cd#g] g#g [d#ga#] ca# 2x [c#dg] ggg#g [d#f#a#] f#f#g#f# [a#cd#] d#fg [a#cd#] d#d#fg i guess the last part is played twice but in the second time last chord is changed to g#cd# and then goes [fg#c] g#g#g#a#g# [g#cd#] d#d#d#fd#fd#g ... and then get's super messy :D

  • @eaxpl I don't know what's so hard to understand about the concept of a free tutorial. If you can take anything away from it and learn something, then good. If not, you're on your own. Badgering the teacher to waste more time on this song isn't going to help, especially when you insult him. Geez, common sense.

  • @wbarreguy opps sry did i really insult you ? i found this tutorial helpful and i appreciate your hard work... yea now i think i could write it more politely sorry once again.

  • @eaxpl No prob.

  • Comment removed

  • @riveratrackrunner I have no idea what this means.

  • Wbarreguy could you please list the chords from 6:36 to 6:54? Are they inversions? I can play them but I want to know what they are. Thanks.

  • @canaan1967 It looks like I may have been doing a bit of improv; I'm not sure as this video is two years old. The first one looks to be C+F+Ab, which would be an f minor chord in second inversion. (the melody includes the note d, which would technically suggest d half diminished in 3rd inversion, aka d42) The second is Ab9. Then c7. Then Eb7 in 2nd inversion, it looks to be functioning like a Bb with suspensions. I wouldn't worry about the exact permutations though, as it was just improv.

  • Sorry everyone, don't hate me, but I happened to find this video very useful. It's not the best, but it explained most of what I wanted to know.

  • @brisinger2 Thanks. Most people like the video.

  • This video rules. Helpful for people like me who don't really have music talent but love to play music.

  • Great tutorial and you have amazing tact. I think you 'carry' your comments very well and handle it in a very mature way. Kudos! Beautiful song. One of my favorites of all time.

  • Thanks for posting this. Excellent job. Now I know how to play my all time favorite song! Regarding all the negative comments that have been posted here, you've handled them with dignity. Unfortunately many folks love to leave negative, nasty remarks. It's a shame. Anyway, great work!

  • @Gary5557272 Thank you.

  • whose this "Keysb3p"?

    they're pissing me off!

why are they so up them selves?

    please shut up "Keysb3p"

  • DEPECHE MODE!!!

  • There is no such name as "Blocked" chords, they are called "triads". The three notes as in a "C".

If you are going to show how to play a song, please know what you are doing as you sound a bit foolish.

  • I'm aware of the various forms of jargon used by musicians but perhaps you missed the idea that this is a casual channel and a casual tutorial; hence the presentation will be more welcoming and colloquial than formalistic. Since we're being punctilious today, you should know that in the United States, punctuation goes inside a quotation mark. You sound foolish and that's inexcusable for a curmudgeon of your advanced age. Fuck off.

  • I am very impressed with your wit, WOW. As for your language, you show your lack of education using the "F" word. Curmudgeon, well spelled, nay, Rocker, yes!

  • Modern education embraces the use of profanity. I won't repeat myself and while I appreciate the dedicated attention you've given to the comments here, this channel is not a proper venue for pretentious exhibitionism. Keep the attitude in check or you'll be blocked.

  • You have a bit of education I see, good. I am sorry you are so young and ignorant of so much. Pretentious exhibitionism, good word, look it up you are really using it wrong. Keep the attitude in check? Please block me! I will do everything I can to have you removed from this site! I have red all about you. All of this because you had a fit because some one knows far more about music and how to play a piano than you do. Shame, shame.

  • Golly, how I love the internet. Have a good morning.

  • I love it to, thank you very much, I'm listening to your video now, your piano sounds really good, I use a Roland s 88 and Kurzweil PC3x, it sounds the best so far. I have a degree in music, I read on the spot and play by ear and I can easily see and hear why some people have such a problem. I would certainly incourage you to work at playing and learning to read. Reading opens far more up than you can imagine. Keep making your video's since they help other's so.

    Cheers.

  • I really can't understand what's your problem here. You want to kick someone off your channel because they think you are wrong on the internet? I'm sorry to say this, but it'll happen again countless times. Blocking everyone who disagrees with you doesn't make you, or the other person, right.

The video tutorial was well done. You might want to play with two hands in the future, it was a little difficult to follow the melody and the chords together now.

  • @Stoney3K There is no problem with criticism or a thoughtful discussion as you're commencing here. On the other hand, communicating with pretense is a sign of bad character. You may have missed the poster's original remarks and he ultimately was not blocked. There are many people both online and offline who can communicate competently and with decency. Those who cannot do not belong on this channel. Hopefully that helps explain your concerns.

  • @wbarreguy And you have decided that I am communicating with pretense of what exactly? I am the one with a music degree and you are not. I teach in a university, conduct, write musical scores, write for TV etc. I enjoy listening to all musicians here for a couple of minutes. I strongly suggest you get a real life grow up.

  • @Stoney3K The problem is that I made some suggestions about the persons playing and found out quite quickly that he does not have a degree in music, I do! He does not want to be told he is wrong at all. There is no problem really, two people exchanging ideas but one person very young and the other much older and far more experienced. In this case, I am write about the music. I teach, conduct, write scores for symphonies, and TV programs and look at these videos when I have a minute, not often.

  • @wbarreguy You are aware of the various forms of "jargon" used by musicians? The word "triad" is not jargon, it is a real musical term that one learns in college. For the most part most people here are excited to learn from one who has a music degree, you obviously are not and don't care, very sad.

  • FUCK N YOU RULE THANKS:)

  • YW!

  • thank you very much for your practice !!! I hope you have the same with "walking in my shoes" of depeche mode !!!

  • Thanks!

  • if anyone understood the beautiful part from 6:20 can he tell me please? (PM) Cant pause so presise to see what is he playing on the other octave, it makes its sound os beautiful.... partiture or whatever, cant find anythin ont he net :(

  • @Owned6989

I think it's pretty too. I don't read or play music but I learned all the notes, now I have to put it together. You have to keep watching it over and over and over to get the chords. Warrebarreguy is a good teacher but I wish he would go over the chords more than the melody. Now I have to find out which hand or hands to play it with. I am confused about that. Keep trying. I know very little about music and I got it so you can too? Intenta lo mas veces que necesitas! Vale?

  • Yes, gracias. I just kept trying and now i can do it more or less. Thank you.

  • This is really helpful. I love the cords at the end. If you have time could you play it through without pause some day?

  • @canaan1967 Thanks. This is a good song and is probably worth revisiting in a performance again.

  • What is everyone saying?! you practically gave up explaining halfway through the video! You played differently than what you explained!

  • Blocked.

  • There is no such type of chord, it's a triad, the three notes in the manner he played them.

  • 6:49 Was that a mistake?

  • Comment removed

  • tori amos does not do electronica dude.

  • No? To Venus and Back and From the Choirgirl Hotel. Blocked for pretentious tone and being ignorant.

  • @fahqwoah

    Listen to ieee

  • Just wish I had half you talant. Nice sound dude.

  • thank you! you are amazing

  • Good stuff, man. I really liked that. Very similar to the original track. Of course, original track has more electro effects, etc. But as the main melody, it is just brilliant. Thanks for the tutorial and keep going on this.

  • very good

  • Oh! Thank YOU! Do you know how many weird videos I watched before I found yours. This is decent- no, this is very nice.

  • keep doing such a good job man! hope to play piano like u do one day!

  • Practice and stay with it. Take lessons or find real good books and teach yourself as many do.

  • wasnt this song covered by Lacuna coil?

  • yeh but they weren't soo good at it...

  • This original was made 19 years ago and ist lot better!!!!

  • Yeah, but that's probably the worst cover of this song ever.

  • Are you talking about the song itself, or, the way this guy is demonstrating how to play it. He is not very good at the demo at all.

  • @keysB3P No. The song itself is an amazing song! I'm talking about the Lacuna Coil cover of it. Pure and utter crap!

  • @GraveRiot I don't know if I've ever heard that, when did it come out? I have mainly just listened to Depeche when they first came out in the mid to late 1970's I think, it was when the rest of the electronica music was happing.

  • @keysB3P Not really sure when the cover came out. All I know is that they really slowed it down, and tried to make it more "Heavy Metal."...They failed at it, and for anyone who's a real Depeche Mode fan, it's a horrible cover.

  • @GraveRiot My gosh, I can not even imagine Depeche playing Metal, they are an electronica band. In one of Keyboards Mags they show Depeche's collection of keyboards, they have 30 or more boards, they collect them. I've only emassed ten from the 70's, 80's. Just can't em playing Metal, that is so far removed from them. Thanks.

  • @keysB3P Oh yeah! That right there is why the Lacuna Coil cover of the song is crap!

  • 10x!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What does your comment mean?

  • @keysB3P it means thanks :)

  • @adizltk So you spent more time and key strokes typing 10x!!!!!!!!!!! when spelling out "thanks" far less time and fewer key strokes? I'll stick to English thank you. But that is sort of impressive, where did that originate any idea?

  • Thanks to everyone for the comments so far.

  • is there a way you can like write it out? haha i got pretty much the intro & the first verse down, but after that i completely lost you.

  • Won't be able to get around to writing it any time soon.

  • You don't play by ear at all? There are plenty of sites that you can down load the music for this song if you read. I do both.

  • Thanks everyone who left a comment here recently.

  • easy learning, thank you

  • Great job, Sir. You not only showed the keys to be played, but demonstrated music theory knowledge in spelling out the chords. That will help me immensely.

  • Hay thanks, T. A. fab, love her take on this song, she played it live in Dublin Ireland a few years ago 'stunning' as a major DM head I love this song anyways, my brother playes it on Guitar

  • tnx for this!

  • great teacher

  • thanks dide!!! great teacher!

  • I do not speak english. But I could deal a bit what you explained .. thank you

  • Thanks. You are an amazing teacher.

  • i like it

  • Bla bla bla !!!

  • this is awesome, man! I'll try to play it as soon as possible, thanks for sharing :)

It was fun when you skipped a part of the song haha. Oh, and, your hand is very beautiful!

    ps. Tori rocks!

  • Thank you. :-)

  • I like your tutorials, they are very good. Thank you!

Greetings to you from Germany :-)

  • Thank you, I appreciate that. :-)

  • Enjoy The Silence happens to be my most favourite song in the world. Depeche Mode are gods. Tori Amos is god-dess :) You have encapsulated everything I love in a 7min video. God Bless you... rofl

  • Awesome, glad to hear. :-)

  • The Bilding of the Chords C and Bb are not right, because that's root-chords with the basic-root-ton above....

  • You're incorrect and your spelling is terrible. Think before you speak.

  • @DepMod92 A Bb is not a root chord at all, a B is though. If you play guitar, figure the song out on that and then play the same chords on your piano. It does work.

  • what a great tutorial! thanks!

but can someone help me with the c-minor chord at 4:42? i just cant see the pressed keys unfortunately and I have absolutely no clue about notes and plaing piano... i am just starting!!! :)

please help, this is such a great song!

  • c minor is c + Eb + g. Hope that helps.

  • you rock

  • Thank you!

  • thank you!!

  • You're welcome.

  • Thanks mate, you just made my friends jealous! xD

It took my like 3 days to memorize the whole thing, but it was worth it 5/5

  • YW!

  • Nice one mate helping me get better on the keyboard thanks alot :D

  • YW!

  • wicked!!

  • TY!

  • thanks for this, i really appreciate it!

  • Well done. Appreciated. Long term Depeche fan finding the keys....

  • Thank you for letting me know.

  • Thank you Brian !!! Leslie from Hungary.

  • You're welcome!

  • I found this tutorial right on the money, i play by ear a lot but had some difficulty with the chords, and was able to pick it up right after watching this once. Thanks mate.
