  • Best song Idol ever had.

  • I never saw this version of the video, only the other... This is very reminiscent of the early 80s. Most videos were like this.

  • Good song, but they really abused the heck out of the bluescreen in this video.

  • i wanna go back to the 80's

  • Booker....

  • It should be NYC theme song.

  • Just keep coming back to this... love the hook. I work with two 30 year old women who say they've never heard of him/this... sheesh..

  • BILLY SEXY ROCK GOD!!!

  • great song

  • Some slightly spooky (inadvertent) imagery there. There's a shot of a New York fire truck followed shortly by one of the Twin Towers. And then there's a scene of cars on a freeway followed by tanks passing by, and atomic bomb test imagery...

  • BOOKER

  • Thank goodness Billy Idol made another video for this song. My sister Durga McBroom, friend Roberta Freeman and myself Lorelei McBroom were the background singers in it. Unfortunately it was banned in the US at the time because of the scene at the end with is pregnant girlfriend on a cross, but it is a much better video than this one. It was shot in 1988 I think.

  • @cybersiren7 your full of shit

  • @cybersiren7 So crazy it just might be true!

  • @cybersiren7 You background singer's gave me a boner ! Thank you.

  • @cybersiren7 Thanks so much for the info,I wanted to know who you ladies were. I thought that was your sister Durga , but wasn't sure.

  • @cybersiren7 That is so cool, you girls were "hot in the city"

  • OK heres some trivia for you 80s nuts like me... who can tell me what famous show that this was the theme music for. Hint... It was a spin off of 21 jumpstreet!

  • @therealhardrivedave look at my other video's ;-) it's the 87' remix not this one.

  • @Retrovidz Miami Vice :D!

  • @Retrovidz I know it featured once in Miami Vice :)

  • @MrAsianOne Good Job.. Ha Ha!

  • @therealhardrivedave

    Booker starring Richard Greico..>What did I win?:0)

  • @therealhardrivedave how do you remember a show that only aired for one season?

  • @therealhardrivedave "Booker" starring Richard Grieco.

  • Comment removed

  • @therealhardrivedave The show you are looking for is called Booker if I remember correctly, I used to have mahoosive crush on the lead actor Richard Grieco :D

  • @therealhardrivedave it had Robert Geiko in it right?i can't remember it i use to watch it though.

  • @therealhardrivedave "Booker" starring Richard Greico.

  • The only problem with this song is, it's TOO SHORT. I guess I'll just have to push play again...

  • I think this video wins the award for Billy Idol video with the most clips borrowed from PBS specials.

  • this is one of the greatest pop songs ever made. seriously

  • Its 91 degrees here in New Castle, PA

  • Billy's a superstar and a living legend! He and Bowie are my favorite singers!

  • @charly9927 But his guitarist Steve Stevens is in big demand by a lot of singers. He did a fantastic job on Michael Jackson's song Dirty Diana.

  • love this song, second favorite behind rock the cradle of love

  • Thanks for posting this song - it rocks lol

  • @plastic1492 Yup, one of his better songs definitely.

  • NeW YoarK!

  • Might I suggest this as a great opening theme song to "Hot In Cleveland". We'll leave the New York part out of course.

  • I never knew who played this song, I guess it's cool.

  • mitico Billy

  • this video is so bad it's good

  • EXELENTE

  • great video retrovidz i just suscribed ! thank you for sharing that with us!!!!!!

  • music videos were awsome till 1990.then they sucked

  • Im guessing this was the MTV version!! When MTV was worth lookn' at!

  • BIG!!! :)

  • This explains why the '87 version of wowthe video was included on the accompanying DVD to "The Very Best of Billy Idol". Wow! No wonder I couldn't remember this video.

  • this screams 80's but who cares! Billy rocks!

  • Lol classic music video!

  • billy made us a custom version, where he substituted 'Chicago!' for New York.

  • Love this song .................. !

  • Der lacht sich bestimmt über sich selber tot, wenn er das sieht. Wie kann man denn das Gesicht so verziehen beim Singen. LOL

  • @mrRissato!!

u laugh about the former generation??!!??

    u so fail!!!!

the generations after us learn form us'!!!

like music, art, sports and so on!!!!

so u dont haVE any idea!!!!

    greetz

  • You understood what I meant? If you don't I'm not to blame. Get an asshole 'cause you won't survive by your brain. You'll have to sell your body.

  • You can't feel this song if your era wasn't in that time.Love was beautiful and at the concerts everyone past the drugs around compared to the gun fights and killing at the concerts. Do you serious think that some one will offer you a beer today? Back in those days if it was raining you would be offered to come in and share what we have. today's concerts(if any) you better not ask for a tooth pick without getting cut or killed. now with my parents Fabion was hot with turn my lose and WOODSTOCK!

  • rock concerts werent that safe back then either.. its not like drugs were such a much safer haven then the SELDOM occurrance of gunfights at the concerts. Think about it I believe you'd be quite in dam shock if you looked up the statistics of drunk. beer drivers and related deaths and over doses then gun fights at concertts.

  • At Wood stock there were no rape reported.Murder.Drugs been here so long that these educated doctors was sniffing from that little pouch they would pull out.

doctors in 1899,1900 was sniffing their asses off. This is how the term theory came to be. A doctor wouldn't never say this is what we know. but instead the doctor would come in and say we the doctors come to this theory, here's what they believe, based on the systems....we'll give you this and that to see if it works.

  • Yes but back in the days of Woodstock there was this thing called containery-pondusiaitan-vantana-babin. It was horific. Lots of people who got it never knew they had it and just died on the way home on the coach, sometimes even coach drivers got it and had to pull off the road to die without killing others!

You have to get real. Even back in the early days of Woodstock there was still things like containery-pondusiaitan-vantana-babin.

Let it go....stop trying to live the dream that never was.

  • I'm not living a dream none what so ever.Go to the Goverment,CIA....That's where you need to have your grips with. Any time the world gets so fucked up that you can't drink the water, eat meat, eat veggies,Medications(wrong dose) bad fish.killings in school from elementary, highschool, college, preist with young boys stating Christ...Drugs from the company that will make a pill so that a dead dick motherfucker that beated it to death past 60 rather have a heart attact to have sex. You keep it real.

  • what about before the wood stock?. where it was showed the men in the service fighting our country smoking and getting high and the ones they didn't go back to get. They was just MIA.Today look all around you.The disease the Goverment have but will not tell you.We have to go to other places on the globe to get healed. You don't see anything wrong if they pay a man 20million dollars not to tell use how to heal, cure and live. So that they may make money off of us.while yet we'll still suffer.

  • speaking of drugs, you shouldnt get high and pontificate

  • I'll take pot anyday than what the doctor will give me. All of those side effects come on now.cooking up the Devil's shit in the meth lab. You really got me confused. I'm 48 and never been to jail I keep a nice home/apt.I don't go out every day to do something stupid. I'm humble and at peace with my self.

  • @MsTananda yes, i can see youre confused but it has nothing to do with me.

  • This whole clamity wasn't about you in the first place. if you comment, comment and move on. Don't debate because all eyes doesn't see the same thing. For example every race has their own God. Put a photo on the wall of a God. Turn it left it's your Armish, turn the photo right it's Ala,turn the photo upside down it's your baptise, lay it on a(n) angle (60) it's the Mormon and so on but it comes to this One God One Baptism and One Church. It's on you to decide which way YOU want to hang it.Yes

  • Mr. Modianos it's not all about you. You're just another person walking this earth with your own thoughts about life and how other people should live their lives and your roses doesn't smell so fresh in your own back yard. As long as the police, fire department or ambulance comes to my home I'm fine. So, with all of this in mind i bis you PEACE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOODSTOCK.. you mean the 3 day beatnik haven where no one showered nor brushed their teeth in that time.. people were so dam f'd up on drugs, cocaine and other drugs.. passed out in the mud and grass.. orgies in plain sight. the musicians were to F'D up to play their instruments.. all for a cause.. what cause?.. who benefitted?.. what $ was donated to what? 3 days of a beatnik celebration that went down as just to see how much drugs can one person do... GREAT

  • Remember ; Love was beautiful back then

and they wore flowers in their head in San Fransicso.(lived there)Monies was donated and some bands played for free just to get the press. They even cleaned the park and made a peace sign with the trash. Today we can't even get our trash taken out for politcal reasons. We was born to die and how you choose to live your life on this earth is on you. I know one of the rolling stones band member was found dead in the pool and the who drummer died at the concer

  • At least back then we got high and pass out. look today people get high and start shooting and so on and so forth. If you dare ask some one to share WHAT EVER they would back then but today you'll get shot and be ashamed of the Devil.I trust my luxury cigarettes. over this Country's meat, veggies, milk, water the Ozone layer, global warmingand everthing else that man has/have fucked up. brushing your teeth doesn't really matter they come and they fall out. That's life no matter how much you brush.

  • I trusted those drugs back then compared to the drugs of today. I don't need anyone putting anything in my drink can't you see that I'm already naked(matter of speaking) you wouldn't see me out there wearing hot pants at my age. every one wants the spot light/their 15 minutes of fame. All of that stuff they put on them drugs. you should see them as they come into the hospital. we don't know anything until the test results are back .this is why I don't work the mental ward.PERIOD.not enough money.

  • This great song reached #23 in 1982 (U.S., Billboard) - My #1 favorite of his!

  • bill broad you false elvis lispy git!!..still love ya man...babs..you remember...and i know you even check out your you tube hits...go bill xx

  • The generation of nowadays will always laugh about the last generation. And the future generation will always laugh about us. So shut up, grow up and do something that no one will laugh about.

  • not even kidding he was hot as!

  • que temazooooooooooooo

  • this song was also the theme song to the tv show Booker staring Richard Grieco.

  • That was the 87' Remix

  • Great song, but yes, it is the 87 Remix (you can tell with the addition of the words "New York" which don't appear on the original version. Doesn't matter though, this is brilliant (even if the video technology back then was sh*t!!)

  • You've got that the wrong way round, the 87' Remix doesn't have the "New York" the original one (this one) does. My reply up there was referring to the guy who said this track was used on booker, I said that was the 87' Remix (ie. not this one)

  • Yep, that's correct!

  • wow hes young lol.

  • 1:02

  • Yesterday's sneering punk sounds like today's A/C...except today's should be this good.

  • Amen!

  • the other video is better

  • This song is so fun

  • aw man I love this song. Reminds me of preschool haha My dad always played Billy Idol or Grand Funk Railroad songs on the way there because I was always in such a bad mood and never wanted to go [:

I kinda prefer the other vid though.

  • Oh wow, I remember this cheesy video from when I was young. I still love Billy. Still like the BDSM video to this song better too! :)

  • D+++,loirão gostosão.....

    I <3 Billy Idol!

  • I know where the video was recorded from a Japanese music station idk wot it is but a lot of Jpop songs have that in their vids!

  • This video makes no sense. I think it's a case of making a video for the sake of making a video.

  • 5 foxis fuer dich fuer dich. lg

  • penis

  • Lol its a really bad video but thats what i like about it and alot of 80s songs lol.

Is this an australian video version? seeing as though as the lady goes through the albums you can see the Australian band 'Icehouse' in pile

  • At :59... that is not a long legged lovely.

  • no shit huh!

  • This has got to be one of the worst videos ever. Maybe twenty five years ago all those effects looked cool when you put them together on your Commodore 64, but today they look pretty stupid. Great song though.

  • Aww the dorkiness of it is why I like it! It's kitsch!

  • BIG, my favorite movie with Tom Hanks.

first time i heard the song

  • Big it's from 1988 and is copied by an Italian film of the year before, "Da Grande" with Renato Pozzetto!!!

  • Super geiler song und ein richtig guter B.Idol!!

  • yummyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Silly Idol

  • there is a great video of billy now at 'slim jim 2'. he's pissed as a fart but funny as hell!!

  • Is there a version of the song where he doesn't say "New York" towards the end of the song? I thought I remember there being an alternate version......

  • Yes, there is a longer 'Exterminator Mix' of this song where the "New York!" lyric is missed out.

  • He must have done a bunch of versions for radio play, since there's one where he yells "Cleveland!" which gets played in, well, Cleveland.

  • Thanks!

  • The over use of graphics just adds to what makes this song a classic

  • This is not a remake Billy Idol wrote this.. and it came back out in a later album and there was another video... basically the same song.. and.. still done by him.

  • This video/song is BOSS!
