from 0:50- Skippy: Oh, SIR! SIR: What DO you want, Skippy? Skippy: May I get out? SIR: No, you may not get out. You're our... lucky volunteer! Skippy: Hauoough.
Such a cute little alien, with the name of my favorite brand of peanut butter. I wonder if Skippy likes peanut butter? Hmmm.
Well parents see Extra Terrorestrial so they think oh it's disney so E.T. should be a fun ride for their kids...NOT!!
I went on this ride when I was eight and I was pretty much tramatized. I have never screamed or cried so loud in my life until this ride. Who knew a ride at Disney World would scare me to death lol
@taylorlauntler123 Not really. While Skippy is still in Stitch's preshow, the overall tone is much lighter. This preshow was meant to be a precursor to the main show, which was incredibly terrifying.
I use to love how on these kind of scary rides my dad would tell me that everything is real and use to tell me "that a little boy my age one time got snatched up on it." it used to make it such an adventure and my parents back then were so cool and how my family traveled and went on rides like these together.... ;D now it brings a tear to my eye.......
When did you film this, incidentally? I remember going on it in 1995 and I'm sure during this pre-show part when Skippy materialised, he wasn't just slightly burnt, but had actually been mutated into a malevolent-looking creature, glowing red eyes and all.
@AdrenalineAddict610 you mean when you hear a liquid sound because the sergeant "oiled himself", or the donut guy? I like the donut guy. He can belch words like I can!
ok i am a HUGE Stitch fan! He's my fav disney character. Ive never been on the alien encounter ride because 1 my parents were smart not to let a 5 year old on but the Stitch alien encounter is GARBAGE!! its disgusting! i almost threw up when he did that chilli burp omg gross. Plus i know its all fake but when he spits his flems on you i felt so disturbed and disgusted ugh i hated that ride. never again will i go on it!! if they had this ride still opened i would probably go on it.! it looks fun
"Please grab you belongings and small carbon based lifeforms" Pretty sure they're referring to kids, wanring sign or not, they know children will see this show.
Someone might say that AE was better than Stitch, or stitch was better than AE. but I think everything in disney world is equally as good as the other because they all have a unique difference. that's the magic.
@MidgetguyII I am working on contacting Disney, because I have a logical idea that will grant your wish! I actually have the letter printed already and now I just need to find where to send it. Do you have any idea about where?
My dad took me on this ride when I was 6. i was fucking scared shitless. I had never even seen anything remotely scary, so I literally was trying to preserve my life. I thought i was going to die
it must have been so damn funny for everyone else. i remember a nice man gave me a high five after that
Dude you DO know thats not the actual ride right? thats the crappy old kiddie one they replaced it with.... I wish I couldve seen the old one but we never went there... What do you mean a nice man gave you a high five after that? :S
what do you define as old, because this is the only one i ever heard about. if there was another one that was scarier, holy trees with dicks i dont want to know. also a really cool guy with a huge beard gave me a high-five cause i was so scared to cheer me up. thats the only other thing i remember from disney world. lulz
This was just the preshow, the actual ride used to be sooooo scary. A huge alien flew around and stuff. Haha. But yeah, I think they were talking about that the actual ride that scared them shitless.
@LtChubbs885 Yeah no kidding. I wouldn't rec. this one for n e one under 9 or 10. I was freaked out in the actual show/ride part. The seats+floor rumble when the alien is moving behind you + when the power 'goes-out' the entire room goes black with the alien running around in the dark. Then a spotlight goes on saying not to make a sound. The seats (which come down over your head & shoulders) imitate the alien's mouth chomping on you in the dark and the alien blows hot breath on your neck.
I LOVED this ride! The first time I went on it was for the YES program at WDW. It was the first time I came across such smooth-moving AA technology too. Bring it baaaaaaack!
Skippy was the only character that returned in "Stitch's Great Escape," but his role in that current attraction was that he jaywalked in another galaxy and was apprehended (explaining why he's in the tube).
I went on Stiches escape this year...and That little frog looking thing in the jar is exactly the same for that. Weird they kept that part in. They kept a lot of it the same. Going on stiches escape and seeing a lot of this stuff "altered" for that ride is kinda depressing.
It was a brilliant idea for an attraction. No two ways about it. But, it wasn't a disney attraction, in any way shape or form. And it certainly shouldnt have been placed in the Magic Kingdom. "I know lets put a ride to scare the crap out of you in the happiest place on earth." GENIUS!! If it had to go in disney then I feel it would be best suited to the Hollywood Studios. The effects are great. Yet it just lacks that disney touch. Something which shows in Pirates and the Late Horizons.
This ride was really one of the only safe havens for the more mature crowds. Everything else in Disney World, especially in Magic Kingdom is awfully child friendly. As far as attractions go, this was the most memorable in Magic Kingdom IMO - followed by Space Mountain.
rumor is they shut it down because it wasn't child friendly since ample amounts of kids came out scared and crying. still, this ride should return cause there were ample warnings about this ride.
Yeah! They should add this at the beginning of the pre-show film: "Please note, smaller carbon-based life-forms may be frightened by our demonstration today. If you wish to leave, please exit through the convention center doors to your left. Thank you, and now here is the story of X-S." This would be more effective than the signs because honestly, who reads every single sign?
People were complaining about how scary it was compared to the rest of the park, despite the 5 million signs around it saying that it may be too intense for small children...
I don't know if this ride would be appropiate for little kids. For one thing the robot is being cruel to Skippy. Second, you are being attacked by aliens who little kids don't know are fake. Finally, kids do not understand special effects and that there are no acutal aliens.
Which explains the warning sign Disney had outside this ride at the begining of the queue. A parent that ignored it at that point only had themselves to blame.
@greyfox918 Yeah not to mention the seats have clamps that come down and lock you into your seat for the entire show. You're not allowed to get up in the middle so any parent who took their kids have to stay for the entire show. Plus they use lasers and stuff to make it look like the alien is coming at you & stuff. I think the seats check your heart-rate too to find which person to "eat" in the audience.
@greyfox918 Well duh. The ride wasn't made for kids. It was made to attract more teens and adults into the park. Warning signs outside warned kids under the age of 12 that it was too scary for them. But parents took little kids on anyway and complained it was too scary for children - when they weren't even supposed to be on it.
Brunodale did'nt anyone tell you that there is no recording allowed on this ride how dum are you: you don't follow the rules when the cast member tells you there is is no taking pictures, or video recording on any of the rides on Walt Disney Rides: Disney has copy rights to everything:
@stitchwanted Actually, he's safe. The only rides you can't tape are film-based shows. Anything that's on a screen like Captain EO or Muppet Vision cannot be filmed. Anything else - knock yourself out.
@Benstudio13 Those are the rides you can't tape because they are 3-D. Every time I go on Stitch's Great Escape, the Cast Member says no use of cell phones, flash photography or video recording.
@Benstudio13 Those can't be taped simply because they are 3-D. Every time I go on Stitch's Great Escape, even when I was the ONLY recruit, the Cast Member in this area says no use of cell phones, flash photography, or video recording. And, being the only recruit, she would have definitely noticed if I had taken out a camera or phone. That time was actually the last time I was on a Disney attraction. It's not as much fun without other people's reactions around you, though.

i am sorry to say but I really really diubt that Disney will bring something back that will scare the crap out of little kids. But it would be awesome if they did bring it back.
Wasn't this illegal to film for an odd reason? I don't think it should be unflimed, that is soooooo boring not to be able to film it and see it again and again
I was 10 when I first rode this--it didn't scare me but I felt so bad for Skippy! I was such a sensitive child. Haven't been on Stitch yet, but I think I'll pass...
Still not sure how anyone could have been scared on this "ride". You know its fake, its just sound effects, water spray and air pressure. It was fun, but not for little kids. The Stitch replacement is sad and weak. I remember going to mars on this ride when I was a little kid. Back when tomorrow land was cool.
i went on this ride when i was 6. My older brother made me go on it. I started to hypervenalate. i was screaming that i wanted to get out of there. horrible experience.
I was about 10 when I went on this ride and it terrified me. I think that it was a good attraction for thrill-seekers who enjoy horror but I beleive that there should have been strogner warnings about the content of the ride.
I cannot believe that they have hardly chaned a thing now that it is the ride about Stitch. The layout is the same and it just seems like they have re-dressed the set :-(
I just realized. they didn't change a single god-damned thing in the Pre-show. they just changed Skippy's name and S.I.R. Isn't his name anymore. it just pisses me off that they made this ride so shitty. I mean. they had a warning up front that the ride saying that it was frigtening for small children. The Imagineers killed a good ride. I loved going on it.
@WannaBeSedated348 Aww Skippy would love to hear that! Go to Stitch's Great Escape and tell Skippy you think he's adorable, and he may break the tube just to give you a hug! <3
this sounds kinda sad but when i was like 6 when i went on that i cried cause i so scared cus my dad let me watch the movie alien and i was afraid of pitch black rooms thinking there was an alien and my dad tricked me on going on that ride and i just kept seeing the alien attacking me than when it ran on the seats i lsot it. it was still ana wesome ride.
I liked this ride and yes something wind touch your neck and legs. I think I remeber them blowing hot air or something like a hummidifier on your neck so it felt like aliens were breathing on you. I think the reason this ride got a bad rep is because they hyped it so much, as much as ToT RnR etc. but obviously cant live up to them. My .02$
Stitch's Great Escape was a pretty cool ride, but man, I never got to go on Alien Encounter. Also, the robot that teleports Skippy, is he voiced by Tim Curry? He sounds like him anyway. ^^;
Man I loved this ride! I only knew about it one single trip to Disney World and I went on it many times. and I'm glad I did or else I'd be super duper pissed about them removing it. I mean I am still pissed, just not super duper pissed. I will miss it thought *sigh* :)
@23jk Would you ride it if Disney puts Alien Encounter back while keeping Stitch like I am suggesting to them? There are two theatres with the big tube, so it wouldn't be too hard to reprogram with a two-show timing pattern. Oh and for the time being, if you go to Magic Kingdom, go to Guest Relations and say that you want Alien Encounter to return, supporting the desire of hundreds of thousands of people that love it and tell them about all these comments throughout Youtube and the internet.
@DisneyfanBeckers oh wow, haha, i made that comment a suuuuper long time ago. i don't even remember leaving a comment! but i actually wouldn't mind riding the stitch ride now :P
@23jk Hey do you like Skippy, or would you rather have Jif peanut butter? I love Skippy the alien and the peanut butter! I loved the peanut butter brand more when I found out about this alien!
I remember this use to be themed of the Alien movies and people would get scared shetless.

@TomChavez Hell no, Stitch is a piece of crap compared to this!

This ride was replaced with Stitch's Great Escape. But they kept Skippy on the ride

ohh! yay! that just raised my spirits. i miss the old version, and i havent made it out to florida to see the new one.

The layout is the same and it just seems like they have re-dressed the set :-(

this ride made me crap my pants

I just realized. they didn't change a single god-damned thing in the Pre-show. they just changed Skippy's name and S.I.R. Isn't his name anymore. it just pisses me off that they made this ride so shitty. I mean. they had a warning up front that the ride saying that it was frigtening for small children. The Imagineers killed a good ride. I loved going on it.

That first alien is ADORABLE ^_^
WannaBeSedated348 5 years ago
@WannaBeSedated348 Aww Skippy would love to hear that! Go to Stitch's Great Escape and tell Skippy you think he's adorable, and he may break the tube just to give you a hug! <3

I love Lilo & Stitch also, but Stitch should not have replaced this awesome attraction.
brunodale 5 years ago
this sounds kinda sad but when i was like 6 when i went on that i cried cause i so scared cus my dad let me watch the movie alien and i was afraid of pitch black rooms thinking there was an alien and my dad tricked me on going on that ride and i just kept seeing the alien attacking me than when it ran on the seats i lsot it. it was still ana wesome ride.

My .02$

Stitch's Great Escape was a pretty cool ride, but man, I never got to go on Alien Encounter. Also, the robot that teleports Skippy, is he voiced by Tim Curry? He sounds like him anyway. ^^;
YamiAiragail 5 years ago
Yes. That is Tim Curry as S.I.R.

This Is One Of The Best Parts Of The Attraction..
Seeing Skippy Appear, Disappear, Reappear, And Disappear Again..
now you can only witness an appearance..
At Least Skippy Is Still There..

Man I loved this ride! I only knew about it one single trip to Disney World and I went on it many times. and I'm glad I did or else I'd be super duper pissed about them removing it. I mean I am still pissed, just not super duper pissed. I will miss it thought *sigh* :)

This is very similar to Stich's Great Scape. The litlle monster that is showed is the same... WOW>. they changed only somethings.. its all the same..
Guizizi 5 years ago
@23jk Would you ride it if Disney puts Alien Encounter back while keeping Stitch like I am suggesting to them? There are two theatres with the big tube, so it wouldn't be too hard to reprogram with a two-show timing pattern. Oh and for the time being, if you go to Magic Kingdom, go to Guest Relations and say that you want Alien Encounter to return, supporting the desire of hundreds of thousands of people that love it and tell them about all these comments throughout Youtube and the internet.
