Where are you finding these videos!!! They're awesome, Freddie is the greatest! And this might be the best version of the Jazz Messengers in the groups history!
I could listen to this all night. Actually a person needs a whole night of listening just to appreciate all it's nuances. It's like a bunch of mini compositions in one. I didn't want it to end!

I truly believe that during Freddie's musical life... he could produce any phrase he wanted to. He had such a spectacular command of the instrument....
I loved the added boost that the trombonist and saxophonist gave in playing under some of Freddie's solo. The trill/shaking effect that the trombone did was effective and well delivered, that Freddie even seemed at one point to feel a little boost of energy from that extra support given.
Freddie is THEE man. I am not the Art Blakey fan I used to be once I found out it was Blakey who turned Lee Morgan and so many other young players that came through his group on to smack. Why?
art blakey was amazing,my uncle saw blakey numerous times and said his drumming was thunderous, especially his press roll to the crash and bass kick, you had to hold your ears.pure stamina
eatsleeptrumpet you did it again giving us a great performance and then telling us to go home. This is Wayne's tune yet no Wayne solo.Stop teasing us man. This one of the best/my favorite Messenger bands. What blows my mind is that Art could play like this every night he took the stand.DAMM.
