"feel the music" is replaced by "sing the music" as a musician grows. I've hear Barrueco say this and many others. It's the same thing, so no reason to belittle someone else for saying your preferred version.
I'll line up with those that prefer this interpretation over Williams, mostly because of the more serene dynamics and expressiveness, that convey much more mystery, in a sense. Still it's not ideal, for me, I would like the dissonant and forte parts much more extreme, it's a romantic piece after all. I feel -as controversial as it might sound- that a lot of these "by the book" classical performers would do well to listen to some heavy metal music, or other contemporary genres as daring as that.
Yes, but first than all I want to be clear that this is just my opinion. FOR ME... Williams is one of the best players, I can't deny that, but sometimes I feel he forget to feel the music and just play everything "perfect" I like better this INTERPRETATION (not necesarly the execution) because this guy projects the idea of the song, you know... the Poe's tale... that's why I said it's better =) I will record it later soon and you let me know what you think about it ok?
"feeling the music" is a meaningless expression that amateurs who don't know what they're talking about use. If anything, this guy does about the same amount expressively as Williams, just in a different way.
well, that's your opinion.. I have been studying classical guitar for 10 years with very good professors, including David Mozqueda, "feel the music" is something that I use because that's what I think.. but whatever, you be upset about what I said of JW, either that, or you have a big ego...
While I still feel this is the best live performance of this piece, and his studio take is outstanding as well, but does this seem a bit fast to anyone?
Most amazing about this interpretation is the sound. The guitar remains musical, not percussive even when most percussive effects are played. Could someone, preferably a professional guitar player explain how could it achieved?
no no nooooo!!!! stronger stronger, not faster, but stronger... doesnt matter if you fail in some parts, maybe is part of the euforia of the song, break the guitar... jump from the yang to the ying, dont take care of the center, you have to feel mad mad MAD...
I agree, it's a wonderful piece, but, please, let people say "how amazing is the power of music!!" is better doing some imprecison than playing steadly! I think this piece this piece needs to be played by a brave man...

fair enough. I hate how people try and say how someone is better than the other, with out being able to explain.

don't worry, I hate that too, it's called being a sheep xD =P what do you think about all this?

I don't think Williams understands the terms rall, rit, meno mosso when playing Usher Waltz!
