She didn't dance much on stage, was a little chubby and had her college girl look, with the pony tail, foofy mini skirt etc. She was still exciting to watch tho, a stage presence that was undeniable. Belinda in 1987, when she did this song, was transformed. Svelte, sleek, gorgeous, and making amazing music. The Go-Go's and their music will always be 80's gold, but Belinda needed to go solo to reach her true potential. She succeeded.

In the 80s every girl I went with put time into her appearance before a date. Nice hair, lots of makeup and clean clothes.

Yes,
Women were not necessarily prettier, they just tried harder and succeeded. Girls today are too damned lazy. They don't even wear hosiery which makes them look that much trashier. In the 80s every girl I went with put time into her appearance before a date. Nice hair, lots of makeup and clean clothes.
Girls - the best thing you can do to get the guy you want is look GOOD! So up the big hair, put on makeup and stockings, your feet DON'T look good enough not to wear them.

Allow me to retort. First of all, I can be really patronising if I need to be, but that's not what I was being - poor choice of words on your part.
I AGREE WITH YOU - guys ARE much lazier about their appearance, but I don't think they should be either.
I DISAGREE with you regarding the notion that nobody notices when a guy looks like a frump, women are the first ones to pick a guy apart (not to their faces) if they don't like his
shoes or whatever. Even other guys will cap on a slob.

All I did was support the comment that women were 'hotter' back then made by another guy commenting on this video. I agreed with him and told him why. I am a guy of the 80s and have seen so many devolutions in music and appearance since then it is disheartening. People still look the same. They just aren't trying to look their best. I am partial to the 80s styles and glamour though.
