Hey!! The William Burroughs cart story at the end is true. So many told me he makes an appearance at the end but I had seen this video when I was young and completely forgot about him so I didn't believe it. But that is defintely Burroughs at 4:06.

This is NOT the original video... at least, the original video did not have the goofy captions. But I love them!!! Sound is messed up, like whoever added the captions didn't record the audio right.

The video never made sense to me, no wonder it's rarely seen! Just some great one-second shots and William Burroughs (why is it everyone U2 works with dies soon after? Burroughs, Orbison, Cash...)

It's extremely easy to do captions like that with video editing software. I think the sound quality gives it away - an 'official' video would have much better sound quality.

I have to disagree. This video is uploaded by Universal Music Group so I think it's clear this is a official music video. And the sound quality doesn't tell anything: I think almost all or even all U2's music videos uploaded by Universal Music Group are in this same quality as well.

Pop is my favourite U2 album... I know, I know, all you hardcore u2 fans would say War, JT, some of your dig Atomic Bomb the most... but for me, as a die-hard synthpop and industrial fan, Pop did it. I wish U2 did more ballsy stuff like this, and not the pretentious, safe, melodramatic rehashes they've been doing since 2001.

Yeah I also think Pop is one of their best albums. It's stupid that many U2 fans and critics say Pop was clearly unfinished. The band worked with Pop very long time. It's true they would've needed a little bit more time to completely finish the record but the outcome would've been just the same, there would only be some additional guitars and stuff, but there wouldn't be any dramatic changes. And those new mixes for Pop songs on the Best of 90-00 are a big joke.

They probably spent 10x more on this promo than Hollywood did on the Omega Man. Even with inflation. So, it's either a great video and an overpriced movie (unlikely) or a great movie and an overpriced video (exactly!).

It's a great song either way.

Mind you, I bought this album the day it came out and loved it immediately. It's underrated.

Burroughs died later that year. Downtown Kansas City was really dead in the mid-90s, but now has opened a new arena and many office buildings and looks very different. I'd never seen the finished product of this video. Thanks for posting!

Yes, thanks for posting! I still hadn't seen this video in the 11 yrs since they made it! I remember when they had all the roads and downtown blocked off for filming. And yeah, back then it was dead enough to do so. Now it's completely different here. But I remember when it was basically a ghost town downtown.

I think they did a massive remodeling of Kemper Arena. That's the only Arena in that area of KC that I know of.
