I hate to say it but it really seems like these engineers are spending a lot of their time messing around and not making progress. I think by now we should have better examples of artificial intelligence, for example, programs that compose ingenious music, or paint paintings.

@dgontar: Many great things in science happened when people were messing around. People do things best unconsciously, just doing what they love. Don't pressure 'em. :-)
