Just to let you know... nobody can go without eating animals. The dirt that plants (that means your fruits and veggies) grow in is from dead animals decomposed bodies. Dirt moves with water and gets into manure so there's still animals in fertilizers. If you think about it, nearly every thing we use comes from animals.

Everyone is reassured that farm animals live in bliss now and don't even know when they're being killed, and NOTHING is further from the truth. Prop 2 was only very minimal changes, fought tooth and nail by the industry, and doesn't even take effect for several more years. Meanwhile meat production and abuse have increased.

A possible future. I eat eggs, but I have my own free ranging chickens that we never eat. I think I'm a lot healthier than all the people around me eating meat. Physically they are very sickly looking. Growing my own food also keeps me in shape and relaxes me after dealing with many of our societies insanities. Also, there people that I appreciate.

I need to develop more of a conviction about it (I only went Vegan for 3 mo. for diet reasons) but If I really "make myself" sit through the documentaries on animal cruelty maybe that would keep me from eating meat altogether. i agree with a lot of things you said about hunting but vegan is un healthy in many ways and if i went vegan i would die because A. MEAT IS TASTY! and B. I am GLUTEN FREE so I would have to live off of nothing at all and die quickly.

Those on the slaughter diet continually use the distant past to justify what they are doing in the present. What other activity in life do people do this? Vegans have 2x the vulnerabilty to get stomach cancer than meat eaters. Vegans are also 3x as likely to get lung cancer than meat eaters. Doesn't matter the way you eat. I completely agree that humane slaughter is an oxymoron, but that was trying to put it in their (meat eaters') terms. I think it would be a step towards the complete removal of slaughterhouses, though. I often hear people saying that it is impossible, but I don't see why they can't at least make an attempt to reduce or give it a shot.

Everyone is reassured that farm animals live in bliss now and don't even know when they're being killed, and NOTHING is further from the truth. Prop 2 was only very minimal changes, fought tooth and nail by the industry, and doesn't even take effect for several more years. Meanwhile meat production and abuse have increased.

eggs and dairy do not cause death when consumed as part of a healthy, balanced diet which yes does include meat.
Take me for instance. I love eggs dairy and meat and sometimes eat too much of them, but I am in excellent health and am not the least bit overweight.
If someone can produce real hard evidence of a study that has been done by the U.S. Government saying that meat, dairy & eggs are harmful if eaten at all even in the smallest quantity then I will stop eating meat.

Our bodies make due, for as long as possible, and suffer the dire consequences.
But even if we were evolved to consume animal flesh and secretions: it doesn't justify the consumption of. We also evolved to be intelligent and empathetic.

A possible future. I eat eggs, but I have my own free ranging chickens that we never eat. I think I'm a lot healthier than all the people around me eating meat. Physically they are very sickly looking. Growing my own food also keeps me in shape and relaxes me after dealing with many of our societies insanities. Also, there people that I appreciate.

They also say, "I choose to eat meat." But when did they actually make the decision? The didn't. Most vegans consciously made the change. Carnists never really thought about it.

@1221solstice2012 hey i am all for eating meat if it's cow meat and stuff. i mean we have a TON of cows and though i see it's animal killing sometimes you gotta deal. and thanks for the list but i am sticking to meat sorry. i hate hunting wild animals too but what's with the crap with eggs and milk? no animals harmed there and it's good for you actually. like i said i only half agree.

@howltothemoon101 Meaningless excuses and denial of the facts. Anyone even remotely informed knows the unbelievable cruelty in the egg and dairy industries. No more now, I have better things to do than go on and on with this old argument anymore. You don't have to explain your diet to me, but to yourself, and honestly, with the blinders off.

@Olimpia963 inform yourself. there are many ways to eat dairy, and meat that are humane. you don't have to buy it from a grocery or butcher etc. There's small town areas where i live where it is all humane and the animals are well cared for.

@howltothemoon101 No animals are harmed to produce eggs and milk? Male chicks are killed because they can't lay eggs and are no the right breed for fattening up enough to be profitable. Hens are killed when their egg production declines and replaced with younger, more profitable hens.
Calves are stolen away from the mothers' so that humans can take all their milk and sell it. Males are sometimes killed soon after birth or sold for veal or other meat products...to be killed for profit.
